| President Obama in his State of the Union address Tuesday will announce that 34,000 American troops will return from Afghanistan within a year, according to a source familiar with the president’s speech. That figure represents roughly half of the U.S. troops now in Afghanistan. Obama will tout the winding down of the war there as part of his commitment to lessen the U.S. footprint in the volatile Middle East. Last month, Obama and Afghan President Hamid Karzai announced a plan to speed the transition of combat operations to Afghan forces.

Damn - America SHOULD NOT have started "nation building" in Afghanistan! Bush was wrong. Bush should have used the Afghanistan Northern Alliance ethnic tribes (Tarjiks, Uzbeks, Turkomen and others) to fight the Pashtun Taliban. Five years from today Afghanistan will be an ethnic battleground. Dari speakers fighting Pashto speakers of the Taliban. The Afghanistan nation is a Myth.

From the beginning, Obama´s actions have been devoid of strategy or concern for our national interest. The number he chose came from a hat, chosen for its political sound and nothing more. Pray for those left behind as targets, trying to survive on MREs.

Although White House Chief Counsel Kathryn Ruemmler claims to have learned about the IRS audit scandal only last month, she had three unprecedented one-on-one meetings last year with the Treasury Department’s chief lawyer, who has known about the inspector general’s investigation of the Internal Revenue Service’s targeting of conservative nonprofits since at least June 2012. The Treasury lawyer in turn has a long history of extreme left-wing agitation. Christopher J. Meade, Treasury Chief Counsel, met with Ruemmler on September 27th, December 11th, and December 13th, 2012, according to White House Visitor Records requests.

President Barack Obama condemned “in the strongest terms the appalling attack" that killed an off-duty British soldier in a London suburb. “There can be absolutely no justification for such acts, and our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victim, the police and security services responding to this horrific act and the communities they serve, and the British people,” Obama said in a statement the White House released Thursday. When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. One of two men allegedly being questioned in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings was shot and killed by an FBI agent in Florida on Tuesday, (Snip)A friend of Ibragim Todashev said he and Todashev were being investigated as part of the Boston bombings. He said Todashev, 27, knew bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev because both were MMA fighters. The man claims he and Todashev were interviewed by the FBI for nearly three hours on Tuesday. The friend said he left the interview, and when he came back to the apartment he found that there had been a shooting.

What´s so interesting about 60 tea partiers protesting the IRS in San Jose, California on Tuesday, May 21st? The fact that this bit of information was conveyed to the protesters by a Department of Homeland Security officer who was also in attendance. What was a DHS agent doing at the San Jose Tea Party protest? (snip) they weren´t just spying on us in San Jose and monitoring us in San Francisco, they were watching us throughout the entire state

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa said embattled IRS official Lois Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights and will be hauled back to appear before his panel again. The California Republican said Lerner’s Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination was voided when she gave an opening statement this morning denying any wrongdoing and professing pride in her government service. “When I asked her her questions from the very beginning, I did so so she could assert her rights prior to any statement,” Issa told POLITICO. “She chose not to do so — so she waived.”
