Pope Benedict XVI Still
Unnerves the Media

True to form, CNN, Reuters, and other media outlets used the announcement of Pope Benedict XVI´s retirement to dwell on ancient sex scandals, opposition to gay marriage, and a host of other things the media have never liked about a Pope who would not hew to whatever worldview the chattering classes embraced at the moment "As a Catholic, I´m not buying this," tweeted hysterical chatterer, Piers Morgan, a "modern world" Catholic

No one should have been as crippled and ill as Pope John Paul II was before he "left" his post by his death. If the current Pope is unable to carry out his duties, it is right that he should step aside. I am betting he thought he was too ill to deliver the upcoming Easter message.

I am not Catholic, but I pray that a strong defender of their faith will be chosen, not a "historical" choice like a black or Latin-American. Unless those choices happen to embrace traditional church teachings.

As our faith gets watered down, church attendance dwindles, no matter what your particular religion is. If nothing is considered sinful anymore than what point is there in having a conscience? Or is that why a lot of younger people raised in secular homes don´t seem to have a conscience in the first place?

I watched some MSM´er intereview Timothy Dolan last night and he actually asked the question whether a new Pope would change the church´s position on abortion, gay marriage and female priests.

The MSM bows before the trinity of abortion, gay marriage and women priests. The Catholic church will not cave on these beliefs. Therefore according to Pope MSM, the church is filled with infidels and must be destroyed. That´s their story and they´re sticking to it.

I suspect the French animosity toward Cardinal Ratzinger had more to do with the fact that he is German than Ratzinger´s position on issues. Though they have been at peace for sixty five years, the thousand year mutual hatred between the two countries persists below the surface. Then again, France, once the most Catholic of countries, is now one of the most secular, and socialist to boot. It may be that their opposition to B16 may be just a reflection of their general disdain for religion.

From what I have read so far on the internet, there are two Italians and a French Canadian in the running for Pope. One of the Italians, whose name escapes me at the moment, is thought to be the favorite choice of the current Pope. None of them is black.

I think the media wants a black choice for Pope simply because it would make their guy Obama look better. The College of Cardinals should not cave to social pressure on this very important selection.

An old saying goes: "He who enters the Conclave as Pope exits the Conclave as a Cardinal."
The election of a Pope is inspired by God himself and its results are almost always what we do not expect.

Barry and Shelley, accompanied by colleens Malia and Sasha, have landed in Belfast. While Dad "faces off" with Vladimir Putin over Syria at the G8 Summit in Enniskillen, Northern Ireland, the wife and kids flew south to visit Dublin´s Trinity College in hopes of learning all about Dad´s Irish roots. Excited to find out that her daughters are related to white men of European descent, Michelle and the girls perused the Irish ancestors´ birth registry

I caught Sarah Palin on Fox & Friends this morning. Wow, talk about a breath of fresh air! While listening to Palin speak on various issues and Obama´s scandals, something occurred to me. Palin on TV fills a desperately needed void. Sarah Palin communicates in plain English, free of the usual guarded TV political speak. Palin fearlessly nailed Obama and company with the truth. Folks, I cannot express how good and hopeful I felt.

The Consequences of Liberalism

Here we are at the midpoint of the Obama years, assailed on every side by looming consequences of liberal hubris and liberal corruption. But the Obama Scandals don´t get me all riled up with partisan outrage. What´s the surprise? If liberals in the media, in the academy, and in politics stigmatize conservatives as monsters, racists, sexists, homophobes, why be surprised that little Lois Lerner wants to please her teacher? Why wouldn´t the Democrats want to do immigration reform and never mind the consequences to low-paid Americans?

There exists a certain real pathos inherent in the NSA´s PRISM program -- and not only because of its attempt to undermine American principles. PRISM, along with its doubtlessly enormous support structure, is based on a worldview that no longer exists among serious intellects (snip) PRISM is much like the other elements of Barack Obama´s great progressive crusade -- ObamaCare, quantitative easing, green economics -- elaborate and expensive systems apt to cause a lot of misery and waste while accomplishing nothing. Liberals like to boast that they are the rational party. But it´s an obsolete rationality

Superman was created in 1938 by Jerome Siegel and Joe Shuster, designed as an adolescent anodyne and savior, in large part, from the hitlerian juggernaut that had sent so many surviving graphic artists and novelists over the oceans for succor. (snip) The Brit Henry Cavill, who plays American Man of Steel without a lapse back into English (joke intended), is certainly handsome enough, but lacks the smooth, seamless facial planes and hauteur of his predecessor. Certainly, Cavill´s physique is peerless, but he seems querulous and even hesitant onscreen as often as he seems commanding.

Every year, like clockwork, Mrs. Obama exploits the president´s official business responsibilities to squeeze in a pre-summer vacation, otherwise known as a PSV. A PSV is where vacation junkie Michelle finds a way to finagle a series of trips at the taxpayer´s expense. Here is how it´s done: The president announces his plan to attend the G8 summit at the Lough Erne resort in Northern Ireland. Michelle convinces Barack to schedule some sort of secondary sideshow so the family can use it as an excuse to travel in the highest possible style, cost-free, compliments of the American taxpayer.

Race discussion may crowd out

Get set for a Supreme Court decision that could alter or even end affirmative action. Or not. Predicting SCOTUS decisions is hazardous, but Fisher v University of Texas could plunge the nation into heated discussion of the role of racial preferences in education and beyond. Oddly enough, a decision that would please conservatives, an outright rejection, would also serve the interest of President Obama, firing up his base and diverting attention from his mushrooming scandals and the corruption of federal bureaucracies. It looks as though the Court is saving Fisher for last

Amid a steady rise of backlash, Edward Snowden, the 29-year-old former National Security Agency contractor who was the source of a spring of leaks about the agency´s surveillance methods, conducted a live chat on The Guardian´s website Monday morning. Judging from some of the pointed questions he´s been asked and the reaction to newly leaked revelations over the past few days, it´s clear that much of the sympathy and support Snowden had built up for his early exposures is eroding. Many Americans supported his decision to leak information about a pair of National Security Agency surveillance programs, which, he detailed, gathered information

As NewsBusters reported last week, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin called out vulgarian comedian Bill Maher for referring to her Down Syndrome son Trig as "retarded." On ABC´s The View Monday, co-host Barbara Walters astonishingly defended Maher saying, "I don´t think he intended it to be mean-spirited" (video follows with transcript and commentary): WHOOPI GOLDBERG: At a recent standup show in Las Vegas, comedian Bill Maher apparently called Sarah Palin’s five-year-old developmentally-challenged son Trig retarded. Jeb Bush says he’s not worried that his work toward comprehensive immigration reform and his ties to the GOP establishment will alienate conservatives and negatively impact a potential 2016 presidential campaign, referring to critics as “the chirpers.” “If I decide to run for office again, it will be based on what I believe, and it will be based on my record,” the former Florida governor said in an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network’s David Brody. “And that record was one of solving problems completely from a conservative prospective.” Bush (R) pointed to his conservative

Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.

Marco Rubio. Paul Ryan. The IRS. Illegal immigration. And fraud to the tune of billions.. Now there’s a combustible mix. Let’s start with the IRS, illegal immigration and fraud. We’ll come back in a minute to Senator Rubio and Congressman Ryan. For those who came in late, a year before the IRS scandals burst onto the scene in early May of 2013, an alert investigative reporter for WTHR-Indianapolis (Channel 13), Bob Segall by name, produced a stunning piece of journalism. Segall’s video report is found here and we will quote from his story for the basics.

It is understood that a contingency plan is in place for the unlikely event that an attempt would be made on the President’s life. The Secret Service also have diplomatic immunity which will allow them to shoot to kill a would-be assassin without fear of prosecution. As part of the “evacuation route” plan, they would be able to spirit the President by chopper to one of the carriers where a jet is on standby to take him back to the United States.

The Obamas never miss an opportunity to mingle with the stars and during a two-day trip in Dublin, who better to have lunch with than iconic Irish rocker and philanthropist Bono? First Lady Michelle along with daughters Malia, 14, and Sasha, 11, started Tuesday with an hour-long visit to picturesque Glendalough in the Wicklow Mountains--but the two girls looked like they would have rather slept in at their luxury hotel. Glendalough is famous for its Medieval monastic settlement founded in the 6th century by St Kevin, the hermit priest. After appearing less than thrilled on Monday while viewing Medieval manuscripts
