#3 might have the best option. If half the room were empty it would be obvious, but that would open the door for Obama to make even more insulting comments than the ones he has planned.

Republicans really can´t win either way on this one. They should sit and not clap or stand when others do. This is going to be a long four years and we have to endure three more SOTU addresses from Obama. Maybe the subsequent years sould be the ones in which to not show up.

I´d almost pay money to see them all walk out. They aren´t going to be treated any better by his most royal africanship or the media so what difference does it make? Act like men instead of sitting there and taking it.

I´ve always been partial to indifference as the best form of revenge under most circumstances. It drives the recipient crazy when the only reaction they can provoke is a blank face. I mean, can you imagine anyone complaining, "Look at that indifference! They don´t give me the respect I deserve."

The Repubs should be indifferent--check their watches or cell phones for the time, study their fingernails, pick a bit of lint off their suit, cough a little now and then, but don´t overdo.

To walk out would require the congress to grow a pair. Boehner would go back to his office and cry like a girl.

I would love to see all the Republicans walk out tonight. I think this would send a stronger message than not showing up next year.

Think people are underestimating him. He is running a very successful propaganda compaign. The Republicans should not be setting with the Dems. They need to figure out a strategy, but that would mean getting rid of the consultants that have so incompetent - and that´s not likely. Nor is it likely that they really want to fight for our country rather than just getting alone and maintaining the money they are getting for their efforts.

In addition, the Republicans should give no response to the speech other than to say it doesn´t deserve a response.

If they don´t have the guts to get up and walk out, perhaps they can all just sit there texting on their smart phones like zippy did during Dr. Carson´s speech.

#15 is wise. Smile at him the way you would at a misbehaving child. Make it clear neither he nor his insults are to be taken seriously. Republicans don´t get it. He wants a reaction and is trying to provoke it. It feeds his narrative and mobilizes his media allies.
