On Monday’s broadcast of Fox News Channel’s “Special Report,” Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer predicted that tomorrow night’s State of the Union address will be the political counterpart to President Barack Obama’s fundamentally “ideological” inaugural speech. “Well, I’m not sure it will be a speech about ideas or programs,” Krauthammer said. “In fact, if the inaugural address was this sort of extraordinarily ideological address, I think the State of the Union is going to be extremely aggressive and partisan. Obama is still campaigning. He hasn’t stopped.
Comments: Obama isn´t interested in the economy. It´s going to be guns and immigration, chocked full of anti-Republican vitriol.
Will not be watching. I have to muck out the barn then. My head is about to explode. Can there be a day without bammy in my face? My goodness, dear hubby said that there isn´t enough booze to get make him watch the kenyan lie to us for an hour.
Paul Ryan gave his first political speech since the election at his home district´s Lincoln Day dinner. He said that despair is a mortal sin and he´s giving up despair for Lent. I am going to try to do the same.
Cannot and have not watched the President for over two years. History will show he may have been the worst President in our history. Has no idea he is supposed to be leading the WHOLE Country, which means everyone. he is a law unto himself.
The complete transformation of this country is an Obama pipedream because at least half the country is against him. Secondly he doesn´t have the money to buy off every voter and money will be come more scarce once Obamacare starts killing jobs.
Bernake is maxed out on money creating gimmicks. All he´s basically doing right now is adding zero´s to the feds accounts to mask the deficit. There´s no hard backup to Bernake´s printing,in fact he should just resign.
Obama has miraculously avoided a tipping point action so far.Even though he hates republicans,he wants their fingerprints on his schemes.
One thing that´s puzzling to me is republican ran states seem to be doing fine but it´s not helping the party image overall. How could states like Wisconsin,Michigan and Ohio elect republican governors then turn around and re-elect Obama unless it´s pure cheating. An Ohio poll workers bragged about voting for Obama twice and no eyebrows raised.
Somebody suggested in a column that Republicans ought to get up and walk out en masse if he uses the occasion to excoriate them. I agree. But they won´t. Instead, Obama will make an outrageous claim, some House guy will not be able to contain himself and yell, ´´That´s BS,´´ and Obama plays the victim.
Surprise me, Pubbies: if this turns out to be a campaign speech full of scorn and derision, stand up, turn your back on the creep, and leave.
Charles, with all due respect, put a sock in it. Until you come out and say you were wrong about Obama -- wrong, say it, Charles: "I was wrong" -- I don´t want to hear from you. Krauthammer, Noonan and Parker: a triumverate greatly responsible for the state we are in now. Thanks loads.
Gee his air time has conflicted with Jeopardy. I will not be able to see the High School Competition final now. I rather watch smart and bright teen agers than a POTUS who has divided the USA ethnic groups, he and congress has spent us into oblivion and hear his lies along with his propaganda cohorts in the MSM and with a crowd of gunshot victims.(My greatest sympathy). IMHO BHO is a waste of time. I need to paint the loft ceiling anyway.
Doc is probably right on this one. What would benefit Obama most? Of course, it is that which has benefited him in the past -- class warfare and scare tactics.
What better venue to disseminate his socialist, anti-capitalist, anti-white agenda than to stir the racial and class pot? He will talk about starving children, killing off granny through medicare cuts, riots in the streets, bridges and roads that fall apart and kill people, "the rich" who protect their $ in the Caymans (as he does), "workers" of America not being given a "fair shake" -- in short, Hitlerian rhetoric aimed at dumbed-down, low-information citizens, legal and illegal.
Obama wants war on our soil, preferably, black against white, unions against non-union workers. Taking away guns is central to his war room plans.
I´ll give Doc this one, even though he sometimes gets it wrong.
And nobody will give a damn! The Press certainly won´t. One has to wonder what it would actually take to shake a Brian Williams, or Diane Sawyer or Bob Scheiffer et al. from their slobbering agreement on any and all. We already know how Chris Matthews stands (still on the air despite ratings that pretty much encompass his family and a few zealots).
I already know the state of the union. I don´t need someone with a God complex to lie to me about it. Therefore, I will not be watching. Obama will be lauded by the media as a president with vision and boldness. I know what he is and what he is trying to do. He is attempting to do what the communists promised they would do, destroy us from within. My heartbreak is realizing that there is no one with the courage to oppose him. There is so much infighting in the Republican Party over who will wield power that they are ignoring the real threat to this country. They should be ashamed. Obama is winning because we have no army on the battlefield.
The Republicans have him in a vice on sequestration. The only way out he knows is to successfully lay the blame on them. That will be the single theme of this SOTU. How he does it is open and unimportant.
I´ve never watched zippy give any sort of speech and I certainly don´t plan to start now. That said, I wonder if he will mention North Korea and their nukes and threats. Probably not as it doesn´t serve his own self interest.
If I were going to watch it I would go back to Rush´s suggestion for the SOTU from the Clinton Era - put a sign across the bottom of your TV screen saying, "This man lies".
Two Americas indeed; those who support Obama and those who oppose.
Remember how under the Eastern bloc and the Soviet Union, if you did not fully support the State you became an Enemy of the State?
It still annoys me that so many of the talking heads on "our" side rarely (Mark Levin being the exception) if ever, come right out and say that Obama is intent on changing/destroying this country for the worse; he´s not in over his head, ignorant about economics, etc. He´s destructive.
"He shall from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such Measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient;" - U.S. Constitution Article 2 §3. Remember that the Constitution only requires notification, not necessarily a formal speech where Congress is required to attend.
I would change my opinion of the GOP if they would stand up and walk out - or not show up in the first place. If only we conservatives had a party with a spine to represent us.
Our local ABC affiliate was playing a teaser just before they went to national coverage. They asked if you could guess which person in the Line of Succession would be absent at the SoTU show tonight. I didn´t care enough to guess.
I won´t be watching. I have watched any of his speeches and doubt if I could make it all the way through one if someone forced me to listen.
I would be thrilled if even one Republican walked out. I would be even more thrilled if none of them went in the first place. They could hang out in the hallway to be seen, even go in, but leave to go to the restroom and never come back. What a waste of time and effort. I´ll be watching some movies on the DVR. It´s much better for my blood pressure.
"The state of the nation is good!" Will be the biggest lie in American history. North Korea just gave the world a wake up call that they have a nuke and they will share the technology with the highest bidder. At the same time Obama will vow to cut our nuclear arsenal and push his Marxist domestic agenda. At what point do the adults take over? ... Maybe after a mushroom cloud over DC.
You can ask me to expect any number of things, but I will most definitely not be listening to Fauxbama´s lies. Anyone who consistently and flagrantly contradicts himself is not worth listening to; he´s not a serious person, just an ideological hack, manipulating LoFo´s and takers.
Here´s another citizen who won´t be watching. But I will say that the President speaks in the House at the invitation of the Speaker. Rather than getting up and walking out en masse as some have sugested, what should be done is that the moment Barry´s TelePrompter reading turns partisan, the Republicans who control the House should immediately cut the power in the House, bringing the whole affair to a screeching halt, and then they should chuck Barry´s scrawney behind out onto the Capitol lawn. But alas, we all know Boehner lacks the gonads to take such a bold stand.
I´m with you #41. Having to listen/watch this profound hate America muslim liar as cameras pan to Big Moo with her lantern jaw and six inch teeth benevolently smiling at the masses while her cold as ice eyes sweep the room is more than I can handle. I´ll be watching the Westminster Kennel Club. I´d far rather see the wonderful dogs competing at Madison Square Garden than see the curs competing in DC at the SOTU.
Sidebar: Anyone who brings an ILLEGAL alien as a, ´guest,´ to tonight´s State of the Union Speech should be immediately arrested for breaking EXISTING Federal Immigration Law. It is currently ILLEGAL to transport ILLEGAL alines!
Enforce EXISTING FEDERAL IMMIGRATION LAW. ...That is not too much to expect, especially inside the beltway and in the American citizen´s very halls of Congress.
Obama has made it very clear that he is not really the President of the United States. He is the Messiah to the liberal toadies and low information masses who are dumb enough to believe him. Count me out.
"Extremely aggressive and partisan" Chuck? Really. Jeepers Chaz, I could swear that´s what you called those of us who tried to expose Obama for what he was, is, and will always be back in early 2008. Thanks to you, Kristol, Barnes, Noonan, Will, ad infinitum at the Weekly Standard, unbelievably brilliant ones, you get to tell us what we´ve known and warned about since 2007. That Lincoln chalice just keeps on giving.
I did not listen to the speech. He is still lying every time he opens his mouth, so why bother? Obama is in an "I won" mode and he thinks he is the greatest thing ever, in this country. He thinks he is MR. PRESIDENT OBAMA now and no one can take that feeling away. He is going to rule like a king and no one will stop him. The Republicans act like scared mice and are running for the hills and saying nothing, nothing...absolutely nothing......
Obama gave old Krauthammer a head fake. Obama´s mission with his speech was not to come over as being extremely aggressive and partisan as Krauthammer supposed, but to come over as a reasonable politician who cared more about the average American then the wimpy Republicans. Just claiming that the minimum wage should be raised to $9.00 an hour will get Obama the votes of millions of low information people, even though it is not politically doable, and if enacted would cause employers not to hire more workers and to layoff a lot of people.
Despite first lady Michelle Obama’s healthy living push, American eating habits deteriorated in the first 10 months of 2013, compared with 2012, according to a recent survey. According to a Gallup survey released over the Thanksgiving holiday, the percentage of adults reporting that they ate healthy all day “yesterday” has been consistently lower all 2013 compared to 2012.
The bungled rollout of President Obama’s signature health care law might have kept the president away from Gettysburg, but it has not kept him off the links or away from the fundraising circuit. Since the launch of the HealthCare.gov on October 1, Obama has gone golfing five times and attended ten fundraisers — with five more scheduled for the beginning of this week — while Obamacare’s favorability has hit all time lows.
Left-leaning Daily Beat columnist Kirsten Powers, who recently revealed how she lost her health coverage under Obamacare, slammed the Obama administration’s efforts to deal with the metastasizing Affordable Care Act Tuesday night. On Tuesday’s “Special Report” on the Fox News Channel, the “All-Star Panel” weighed in on the administration’s responses to the disastrous Obamacare rollout. Washington Post columnist George Will blamed the widening crisis on President Barack Obama’s lack of managerial experience. “Well, everyone is talking about extraordinarily complicated act as though it’s a tinker toy,” Will explained. “If you don’t like this part, just plug in another part.
Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer slammed Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius’s congressional testimony as “pathetic” in an interview set to air on Wednesday’s Hugh Hewitt radio show. The author of “Things That Matter: Three Decades of Passions, Pastimes, and Politics” said Sebelius’ performance before the House Energy and Commerce Committee left much to be desired, even if viewers took into account there wasn’t much she could have said. “To her credit — and it was a pathetic, horrible, mortifying performance. She wasn’t holding a lot of cards,” Krauthammer said.
Washington Post columnist George Will said he wants Obamacare to fail, pointing the impossibility of controlling one-sixth of the economy with central planning after his co-panelist Juan Williams declared Republicans did not want the law to work. Williams accused Will and his other co-panelists on this weekend’s “Fox News Sunday” during the show’s online-only “Panel Plus” segment of “schadenfreude” in voicing their reactions to the failure the HealthCare.gov launch. “[Y]ou know, I just think there is a lot of schadenfreude on the panel this morning,” Williams said. “ And people, ‘Oh yeah, you know, isn’t it terrible —
Fox News senior political analyst Brit Hume told Hugh Hewitt Tuesday that the President Barack Obama and other Democrats’ partisan rhetoric is unprecedented. “There’s no doubt about that, and you know, I’ve never seen, actually, partisan attacks, where you simply are attacking the other party outright by name, calling the other party out, is something a little unusual,” Hume said. “I’m accustomed to seeing, I mean, it’s done in one form or another, and it has been for years. But I’ve never seen it done by a president himself to the extent that it’s been done by this president
Conservative talker Mark Levin has a stern warning for President Barack Obama and his administration: Don’t mess with the World War II veterans. Levin, author of “The Liberty Amendments: Restoring the American Republic,” told his audience on his Wednesday radio show should there be any action taken against those veterans for visiting the World War II Memorial on the National Mall, even with the government shutdown, he would bring 500,000 people to march on the Washington, D.C. in response. “I want to tell you folks something — I want to say this loud and clear to the people
More young men in California rise in pitch at the end of their sentences when talking, new research shows. This process is known as "uptalk" or "valleygirl speak" and has in the past been associated with young females, typically from California or Australia. But now a team says that this way of speaking is becoming more frequent among men.The findings were presented at the Meeting of the Acoustical Society of America in California. "We found use of uptalk in all of our speakers, despite their diverse backgrounds in socioeconomic status, ethnicity, bilingualism and gender," said Amanda Ritchart, a linguist at the University of
DAVID CORN: I saw a president who remains frustrated with the political-media culture that he has to work within, and that he´s looking to rally people, students here, and supporters, and people within the media. CHRIS MATTHEWS: But David Corn, you skeptic. He came to us today. He came amongst us. CORN: He´s trying to rally people behind this vision that he´s been promoting for a couple years. FINEMAN: By the way, he did it the end here, today, Chris, not by defending specifics, but by explaining why he´s in the game to begin with. And I don´t know about you, he´s
The most curious thing of all about the November jobs report released on Friday was the huge drop in the unemployment rate — and the fact that the Labor Department chose not to disclose that the data going into that figure are under investigation for falsification. On Nov. 19, I broke the news in my column that the Census Bureau, which collects data that goes into the jobless rate on behalf of Labor, had caught one of its enumerators fabricating interviews in 2010. The culprit said back then (and to me during an interview) that he was told to do so by
Denver - A baker who refused to make a wedding cake for a same-sex ceremony must serve gay couples despite his religious beliefs or face fines, a judge said Friday. The order from administrative law judge Robert N. Spencer said Masterpiece Cakeshop in suburban Denver discriminated against a couple "because of their sexual orientation by refusing to sell them a wedding cake for their same-sex marriage." The order says the cake-maker must "cease and desist from discriminating" against gay couples. Although the judge did not impose fines in this case, the business will face penalties if it continues to turn away gay

Former President Bill Clinton shared an anecdote regarding Nelson Mandela and the aftermath of his impeachment Friday on CNN. Clinton revealed shortly after the “impeachment business” finished on Capitol Hill, Rep. Henry Hyde (R., Ill.) who managed the impeachment trial requested a meeting at the White House. The former president granted the meeting out of lessons of humility and forgiveness he learned from Mandela, he said: BILL CLINTON: I remember one day, oh, about a month after the whole impeachment business was over, Henry Hyde, who had run the whole show, unbelievably enough, maybe a few months after, it was
One definition of a pathological liar is someone who lies where the truth would serve just as well. When President Obama’s uncle, Onyango Obama, was arrested in 2011 for drunk driving, the truth — that Obama had stayed with his uncle years earlier for several weeks as a Harvard law student — would have served the president just fine. No potential Obama voter would have held it against him that an uncle he had stayed with two decades earlier was picked up for DUI. Yet the White House went with a lie, claiming that Obama had never met his uncle. Now that
