What Our Society Has Become

Today’s democrats are often called “socialists” by their opposition, and though that is probably true, what today’s progressive liberals truly are is something worse. These people are statists, which are people who believe that only the ruling elite understand how a society should be run, and that it is up to them to engineer that society so that eventually it becomes a peaceful utopia equipped with equality, fairness, and a share-and-share alike attitude. Heaven on Earth, I suppose you could say. Samuel Adams called the concept “utopianism.” Karl Marx called it communism.

After reading this you easily see why the words of Dr. Benjamin Carson are so very refreshing.

State-worshipers are those who love "humanity", but hate people.

Unarguable.

Our laws are largely social engineering efforts, our bureaucracies and foundations long-since taken over by leftist social engineers.

BTW -- "Utopia" translates to "nowhere."

Well, "nowhere" that has actual human beings in it. Humans are flawed, you see. We aren´t real good at this free will stuff. But the Left will solve that, if they have to kill us to do it.

Renaming the process where a few elites want to control all of us makes no difference. IT´s all about their arrogance to think they are smarter than everyone else.

These people will be sadly mistaken when this all blows up in their ugly faces and no one ´complies´.

Leftists/Statists/Progressives truely believe that a utopia on earth is possible and they have killed 100+ million in the 20th century trying to prove it.

#5 has the right ideas but all due respect, your numbers are flawed by a long way: since 1973, more than 50 million lives have been butchered in America, alone.
When you factor all the Progressive murders of children worldwide, and all the lives taken in Socialist wars from Hitler to Mao to Stalin to Pol Pot, the numbers have to be bordering on a billion people.
How many abortions in China per year? 300 million?

Liberalism is the leading human cause of death. In all of history.

Our Society has not "become" this, because it cannot, any more than a car can run with an engine full of water and hope. They can try to implement such empty values, but it will never function. Their failure will thus be as utter and total as people allow it to be, before finally taking back control over their own lives.

I read a study done a few years ago comparing modern day USA to Nazi Germany at it´s most horrible- we had, at the time of the writing, many times the number of regulations and laws on the books at the federal level alone than the entire Nazi state had combined!

My heart break for our nation and our people. We have become what we most hated.

The FBI is probing past legal work done by Texas gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis, according to a report her Republican opponent’s campaign calls a “bombshell.” The Dallas Morning News reported Friday that documents “related to Sen. Wendy Davis’ work as a lawyer for the North Texas Tollway Authority are part of an FBI inquiry of the agency.” The news outlet said it’s unclear how much this investigation revolves around Davis, the Democratic nominee for governor. “It’s not clear whether Davis’ work for the tollway authority is a focus of the FBI or only part of the material collected in connection

Researchers at Princeton and Northwestern universities have pored over 1,800 US policies and concluded that America is an oligarchy. Instead of looking out for the majority of the country’s citizens, the US government is ruled by the interests of the rich and the powerful, they found. No great surprises there, then. But the government is not the only American power whose motivations need to be rigourously examined. Some 2,400 miles away from Washington, in Silicon Valley, Google is aggressively gaining power with little to keep it in check. It has cosied up to governments around the world so effectively that its chairman,

Steve Lynch is a Democratic Rep. from Massachusetts who doesn’t hesitate to buck the party line from a centrist point of view, and to speak openly about problems in the party and with party positions. Lynch ran for Senate to fill John Kerry’s seat, but lost in the primary to now-Senator Ed Markey. Lynch recently was interviewed by The Boston Herald about upcoming Obamacare problems and how devastating they will be for Democrats. That runs contrary to cut current news cycle Democratic spin that (allegedly) meeting sign up goals means electoral problems related to Obamacare are over. U.S. Rep. Stephen Lynch, the

Then-Sens. Joe Biden and John Kerry were both opposed to Hillary Clinton’s 1993 health-care reform program, according to documents released by the Clinton presidential library. Clinton marked a handwritten “No” beside Biden’s name on Clinton’s list of Capitol Hill lawmakers that she needed to win over for her universal health care law, known as the “Clinton health plan” or “Hillarycare,” to pass. John Kerry, meanwhile, was marked with a “Probably not.” “Hillarycare” ended up dying in the Democratic-controlled Senate in 1994 without coming to a floor vote. As vice president, Biden has been a loyal supporter of the Obama administration’s

Wayne Crews of the Competitive Enterprise Institute and Alexis de Tocqueville, author of the classic Democracy in America, were born in different times and places. But the French aristocrat and American think tanker have the measure of the federal behemoth in the age of Obama. Writing in 1835, Tocqueville eloquently predicted how it would function, while Crews today supplies in his annual compilation of federal rules and regulations, “10,000 Commandments,” the hard numbers that describe the behemoth´s contemporary reach and costs. It is always worthwhile to revisit de Tocqueville’s description of what he called the

For Hillary Clinton, having her own baby grandchild to kiss on the campaign trail, could be one of the biggest boosts to her possible presidential election campaign. Although the former Secretary of State and First Lady has not said if she will run in 2016, the arrival of her first grandchild will soften her image, analysts have said. While Chelsea only revealed her pregnancy on Thursday, supporters of her mother have already started cooing over a possible baby in the White House. With the Clintons having a near-royal status in the U.S., the announcement of a new arrival due this fall has sent

That was quite a victory dance President Obama did Thursday while claiming Obamacare is “working” because eight million people have now supposedly signed up for the health care program. He even indulged in some less-than-subtle mockery of Republicans - and by extension the majority of Americans who have disapproved of Obamacare since before it became law. "The repeal debate is and should be over,” Obama said, taking a dig at Republicans who are “going through, you know, the stages of grief … anger and denial and all that stuff …” But a president who is viewed by most Americans as less

These are some of the measures — some would say gimmicks — that golf courses across the country have experimented with to stop people from quitting the game. Golf has always reveled in its standards and rich tradition. But increasingly a victim of its own image and hidebound ways, golf has lost five million players in the last decade, according to the National Golf Foundation, with 20 percent of the existing 25 million golfers apt to quit in the next few years. People under 35 have especially spurned the game, saying it takes too

Hi, everybody. For millions of Americans, this time of year holds great meaning. Earlier this week, we hosted a Passover Seder at the White House, and joined Jewish families around the world in their re-tellings of the story of the Exodus and the victory of faith over oppression. And this Sunday, Michelle, Malia, Sasha, and I will join our fellow Christians around the world in celebrating the Resurrection of Christ, the salvation he offered the world, and the hope that comes with the Easter season. These holy days have their roots in miracles that took place long ago. And yet, they still inspire us, guide us, and strengthen us today. They remind us of our

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that a family of dissident ranchers and their supporters in his home state of Nevada are ´domestic terrorists,´ citing this week´s standoff with the federal government´s Bureau of Land Management. Cliven Bundy has refused to pay grazing fees for land where his hundreds of cattle roam every day. The land is owned by the federal government, which says he owes more than $1 million. Bundy, however, insists that since his family has been using the land since the 1870s, Uncle Sam can´t collect the grazing fees. A tense standoff developed this week after

In a speech earlier this week, Lisa O. Monaco, President Barack Obama’s assistant for homeland security and counterterrorism, insisted that American parents must be vigilant because their “confrontational” children could be on the verge of becoming terrorists. Monaco’s full, prepared text is available here. She presented the speech, entitled “Countering Violent Extremism and the Power of Community,” at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government on April 15. Monaco began her remarks by eloquently describing the lives tragically lost last year during the Boston Marathon bombings. Interestingly, the Harvard grad failed to mention the religion or the motive of brothers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan
