Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) on Sunday threatened to hold President Obama’s nominees to head the CIA and Defense department unless the administration provides him with more answers on the response to the Benghazi Consulate attack. “I don’t think we should allow [John] Brennan to go forward for the CIA directorship, [former Sen. Chuck] Hagel [R-Neb.] to be confirmed secretary of Defense until the White House gives us an accounting,” said Graham on CBS’s “Face the Nation.” “Did the White House ever pick up the phone and call anyone in the Libyan government to help these folks?”
I may have misunderstood Panetta and Dempsey, as unlikely as that might be, but I thought that each of them said that no one asked them for military support, prior or during the attack. This article makes it sound that they were only talking about the time leading up to the attack. In addition, the special Utah national guard security unit, according to their commander, offered to stay longer in libya, but obese charlene lamb, state department assistant secretary for security at State, said she declined the offer, after consulting with ´senior officials´ at State - instead, she wanted to hire and train more locals in benghazi for security positions. It is, however, becoming more and more clear that in this kenyan klown´s administration, no one seems to be in charge of anything.
OK, Lady Lindsey - - let´s see what kind of guts you have.
Demand - - yes DEMAND - - two things: A minute-by-minute accounting where Zippy was and what he was doing on Sept 11 & 12; The names and contact info for all Benghazi survivors so that Congress can question them in detail.
Anything short of both of those demands will confirm what most of us already think of you - - that you´re a typical, gutless Pubbie wuss.
Why was the "AFRICOM" Commander fired? When was he fired? Who told Susan Rice to go out and lie about the terrorist attack? Why was the CENTCOM Commander fired? When was he fired? Where there ANY air assets within two hours flying time of Benghazi? I´m STILL waiting for those questions to be asked/answered....
American citizens on America sovereign soil were being murdered by heavily armed terrorists, and the president and CIC went to bed. The immediate superior of the diplomatic personnel was never heard from at all throughout the entire attack. While those personnel were placing frantic calls for help, orders were given to stand down. The defense department was never called in.
If this isn´t the place for a select committee, there is none.
Almost as grotesque as the administration´s dereliction, is the MSM´s dereliction in its collective yawn.
Here we go again. a. Talk tough. Well, "tough." Can´t rub the wrong way against all that "collegiality," which is of course far more important than the Republic. b. Remember that Republicans in leadership positions have all been donors in the CDC´s experimental spine-transplant program. c. The Left gets what it wants.
2. Re Benghazi. Never forget, the bigger and more important issue [yes, Benghazi is indeed a big deal, but] is that Obama and the State Department made sure all our diplomatic sites throughout the Islamic nations had no American security, but "relied on" locally-provided "security forces" for "protection." All so those warm, wonderful Muslim gov´ts would see how warmandfuzzy [yeah, one word] us Americans really, really are. And l-o-o-v-v-e us, ever-grateful to Barack.
Stand for your country Graham...this is your time...save the country
WND reporting FBI claims Brennan is a Muslim
Glenn Beck´s interesting assertion that Panetta and Dempsey were doing a quick two step on Thursday... ......Oddly throwing the president under the bus...,making it all but appear to be a dereliction of duty some say ....in not being available as our people were slaughtered at Benghazi...and then .....Panetta happened to comment that he, Hillary and Dempsey wanted to arm the rebel forces for Syria......BUT the president said no....Panetta however didn´t mention the rebel forces are AlQaeda
Now that the arms from Libya are showing up in Syria in the hands of AlQaeda...and in Algeria where Westerners were murdered at the BP facility and reported in foreign press....Obama wants cover for his treaon... ....Obama not only was arming AlQaeda and turning the Middle East over to the IslamoCommunists...he has done these treasonous activities in the open, under the nose of stupid, blind or worse... complicit senators....
Thank God the Seal and this Ranger had the GUTS, the patriotism ...to call foul...when our Generals dishonor their entire careers and hide behind their pensions...WHO are these hollowed souled soldiers who dishonor their country and their oath!
There was gun and missile running....Brennan looks like the arms deler point man for Obama and the shadow head of the CIA...
FAST AND FURIOUS BENGHAZI STYLE....
If true that Stevens was kept in the dark...and had met with Senator Inhoef the week before his death...Benghazi looks to be a set up....LameChery called it long ago... .And the why of the Lochkeed official that resigned when Petraeus did ...also for an affair...That Lochkeed Chief Operating Officer had TRIPLED sales at Lochkeed in ONE year, in 2011..Explain that...Mr COO. If we´re fighting a war, let the American people know...
The President, as Chief Executive and Commander-in-Chief, has a right to the cabinet of his choosing. These confirmation hearings are cheap political theater for B-list politicians like Graham. The President won the election; his nominees should be confirmed absent serious evidence of malfeasance. The GOP are foolishly squandering political capital, making it easy for Democrats to tar them as obstructionist, and all for what purpose? To spare the President from being held accountable for his administration. End this foolish business regarding the President´s nominees! Graham is a fool and if he is on your side you should be doing some real soul searching.
#15 asserts "The President, as Chief Executive and Commander-in-Chief, has a right to the cabinet of his choosing."
No, he doesn´t.
1. The Constitutional requirement of nomination, advice, and consent clearly and obviously invalidates that claim. Ooops!
2. Beyond that, reason can very shortly produce a long list of patently-disqualifying factors. Start with: a. foreign citizenship; b. criminal history; c. previous impeachment and removal from office; d. unauthorized [read: illegal] possession of over 1,100 FBI files; e. ah, nuts -- any honest examiner of the issue can come up with plenty more.
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is spending an additional $55 million to “bolster” the healthcare workforce, as Obamacare contributes to shortages in the industry. HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced last week that her agency will provide over 270 grants “from diversity to dentistry” to address worker shortages in the healthcare industry. The funding includes $45.4 million to support the nursing workforce, $5.2 million of which will go towards “improving nursing diversity.” The grants also provide $2.4 million for training of doctoral-level psychologists to “address the behavioral health needs of vulnerable and underserved populations,” and $3 million to
"Mr. President, I think I need to resign." In July 2003, six months after President Bush falsely declared in his State of the Union Address that Saddam Hussein had tried to buy yellowcake uranium powder from Africa, Stephen Hadley wanted to take the fall. The CIA had told him prior to the address that the evidence was dubious, and it was his job to vet the speech. "Ugh, Hadley," Bush said, brushing off his deputy national security advisor. According to Peter Baker´s book "Days of Fire," Hadley persisted. He explained that the president should expect the highest standards and those
John Podesta, a former White House chief of staff under Bill Clinton, will join the Obama White House as a senior counselor to President Barack Obama. The New York Times first reported the move late Monday, followed soon after by the Associated Press, who cited two people familiar with the move. Those people asked not to be identified because the announcement hadn´t been made official. Podesta served as Clinton´s fourth and final chief of staff between 1998 and 2001 before founding the Center for American Progress, a Democratic think tank with close ties to the Obama White House, in 2003. Podesta will take
JOHANNESBURG — One of the ironies of the praise from world leaders for the late Nelson Mandela at a state memorial service Tuesday is that the former South African president frequently irritated the United States and others with his positions and loyalty to longtime supporters such as Cuba and Libya. Both Cuban leader Fidel Castro and Libya’s Moammar Gaddafi had long supported the African National Congress (ANC). And as president, Mandela did not abandon them, despite their human rights abuses and despite Libya’s involvement in the 1988 Lockerbie bombing in which a Pan Am transatlantic flight was destroyed over Scotland, killing
BEIRUT — Syrian government troops supported by the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah took control of a strategic crossroads Monday in far western Syria and reopened the country’s main highway to the coast, according to state-run Syrian media and rebel activists. The capture of the town of Nabek from rebels trying to topple the government of Syrian President Bashar Assad is considered critical to transporting the remnants of Syria’s chemical weapons stores out of the country for destruction. Syrian state television claimed the capture happened on Sunday, but Assad-sympathetic news outlets in neighboring Lebanon said that the town was brought completely under control
A bill set for fast-track passage in the South Carolina Senate in January aims to eliminate Obamacare in the state. The law could become a model for other states fed up with the federal health-care law. House Bill 3101, titled the “South Carolina Freedom of Health Care Protection Act,” passed the state House of Representatives last April by a 65-34 vote. The bill now heads to the GOP-controlled Senate with special-order priority, setting up the likelihood that South Carolina will become the first state to exempt citizens and businesses from all participation in the Affordable Care Act. State Sen. State Sen. Tom Davis, the bill’s sponsor
There are plenty of reasons this is the lowest point of Barack Obama´s presidency. He hasn´t fulfilled a major legislative campaign promise, his signature second-term immigration initiative is paralyzed, and the administration may never entirely recover from the unforced errors surrounding the Affordable Care Act´s rollout. But don´t blame these problems alone for Obama´s record-low 40 percent approval rating. In truth, his agenda went off the rails on a crisp December morning last year, when Adam Lanza strolled into Sandy Hook Elementary and killed 20 children and six adults. Obama hasn´t gotten back on track since. The Connecticut massacre set in
On his way to the podium at the memorial ceremony for former South African president Nelson Mandela, President Obama walked down the line of dignitaries, greeting other leaders there to pay their respects. Among the hands shaken: that of Cuban leader Raul Castro. Obama neither made a special effort to shake Castro’s hand nor to avoid him. A snub might have been awkward: In his speech, Obama praised Mandela’s “greatest gift” as “his recognition that we are all bound together in ways that can be invisible to the eye; that there is a oneness to humanity; that we achieve ourselves by
The Obama State Department has finally released a second round of photos revealing the harrowing devastation wrought by a terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012. The new photographs depict rampant damage to the consulate. They show charred walls, smoldering fires, Arabic graffiti defacing exterior walls, and scattered debris throughout. The extent of the damage would lead any reasonably serious person to conclude that this was a cold, calculated attack, carefully coordinated to mark the 11th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001. Unfortunately for the American people, the Obama-Clinton-Rice cabal that led to the Benghazi cover-up was
A black fashion student says he was brutally attacked by a gang of Hasidic men who shouted anti-gay slurs at him while he was walking through Williamsburg after a night of partying, the Daily News has learned. Taj Patterson, 22, was headed home to Fort Greene around 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 1 when he says more than a dozen ultra-Orthodox Jewish men began assaulting him on Flushing Ave. and yelling, “Stay down, f----t!”
A “presidential selfie” featuring President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister David Cameron, and Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt at Nelson Mandela’s memorial service began making the rounds this morning, but it’s the person not included in the frame who caught everyone’s attention: As anyone with two eyes and a Twitter account has noticed, Michelle Obama does not appear amused. Of course, though a picture says a thousand words, not all of those words are necessarily true. FLOTUS might not have even known the photo was taking place. Or she could disapprove of funeral selfies. Either way.
US President Barack Obama may have moved the masses attending Nelson Mandela’s memorial service with his stirring eulogy, but it was his grinning "selfie" with the Danish and British premiers that set social networks abuzz. In a candid moment captured by a photographer, Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt can be seen holding up her smartphone, with Obama lending a helping hand, as they pose for a picture with David Cameron, all three of them smiling broadly in their seats at Soweto’s World Cup stadium.(Snip)Mashable, the news and technology website, ran the photograph under the headline: ‘‘Dear Obama: Funerals are no place
Just how much do many Hollywood liberals hate conservatives? In an interview with Playboy, Ben Affleck said, "When I watch a guy [on film] I know is a big Republican, part of me thinks, I probably wouldn’t like this person if I met him": PLAYBOY: You developed a political profile campaigning for presidential candidates Al Gore, John Kerry and Barack Obama. How did that come about? AFFLECK: I grew up in a house with a mother who was a teacher and a Freedom Rider—very left-wing Democrats living in a heterogeneous working-class neighborhood. I picked up a lot of those values there, and I
MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry opened her program over the weekend with a commentary about the Affordable Care Act’s colloquial moniker: “Obamacare.” She said that the word was originally created as a “derogatory term,” designed by white men as a way to delegitimize President Barack Obama and his achievement. However, she said that the term will soon be synonymous with all of Obama’s accomplishments and she urged her audience to use the term with pride. “I want to talk today about a controversial word. It’s a word that has been with us for years, and like it or not, it’s indelibly
