Ben Carson for President
Wall Street Journal, by Editorial

Whether this weekend finds you blowing two feet of snow off the driveway or counting the hours until "Downton Abbey," make time to watch the video of Dr. Ben Carson speaking to the White House prayer breakfast this week. Seated in view to his right are Senator Jeff Sessions and President Obama. One doesn´t look happy. You know something´s coming when Dr. Carson says, "It´s not my intention to offend anyone. But it´s hard not to. The PC police are out in force everywhere."

Comments:
And he proceeded to lay into everything Obie holds near and dear. PC control of anything that sounds like dissent, penalizing the rich with unfair taxation, Obamacare (not by name), and on and on. All the while reminding "I don´t want to offend anyone." Obie appears to turn to stone.

A self-admitted difficult underachiever in school, Carson credits his mother for keeping at him and turning his life around. He is now the director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins and probably the most renowned in his field.

Do read the article (better yet, view the video - you´ll be glad you did). His words on the flat tax, which start with a Biblical reference to tithing, are terrific. He is incredibly eloquent.

I´ve known and read about Dr. Carson for many years. He is a great and good man. Comparing him to Obama leaves Obama far, far behind. Dr. Carson´s story is the story they´d like you to believe is Obamas. It isn´t. Dr. Carson´s story is true and real and amazing. This is the man all of our young black people should be looking up to and admiring and aiming for. Not Jay-Z and Jamie Foxx and Chris Rock....yuk.

Get ready for the flying monkey assault on this fine man. He´s about to get Tebow-Palin-Borked. I can hear the wheels grinding on both coasts. Conservatism must NEVER be allowed to appear and sound obvious, pleasant, fashionable and never ever...attractive. This will not stand.

I´d vote for him. A few years back I watched him give a virtual tour of a downtown area. On his tour he pointed out everything that had been invented by an African-American. It was an incredible list. Obama would have said you didn´t invent that.

I heard Dr. Carson´s speech and watched him as he spoke with the President sitting right. There was an obvious devide of good and evil there...in the man speaking, and the other. Dr. Carson should be heard by everyone. He brought God into the mix with our country and founding fathers!! What novel approach!!

On TV this AM, Doctor Carson, said we now have a fourth branch of government, the "Special Interest Branch". The good Doctor makes a lot of sense but how many will listen and act.......

I had heard a great deal about this speech but had not watched it until now. All I can say is "WOW".

I would vote for him in a heartbeat. He needs to do a speaking tour at every inner city school in the country. He is amazing!

I, too, have known of Dr. Carson for many years. We have several copies of "Gifted Hands" in our school library and urge the students to read it. As a matter of fact I have it displayed right now for Black History Month. If you like Dr. Carson´s book try reading "We Beat the Streets" by Sharon Draper. Similar story about three young black men. Two become doctors and one becomes a dentist. Well, back to the subject at hand. I would vote for Dr. Carson in a heartbeat. Let´s see Dr. Carson or President Skeeter? No choice. Loved the look on Skeeter´s face. He was most assuredly thinking bad thoughts about Dr. Carson. Oh, and by the way, no one has the right to go through life believing they should never be offended. Affirmative action, self esteem and PC silliness is ruining this country.

The left are bringing out the scalpels to use against Dr. Carson now as they cannot let a conservative, black man speak this way as it is bad for their propaganda. Anyone they perceive as a threat, has to be taken down.

If the blacks in America are to be saved from modern liberalism we must have a conservative black president....and soon. While we all may be doomed by 2016 we surely cannot survive if Hillsry follows Barry. And certainly not if we can´t sweep away the Republican establishment.

I don´t know much about Carson but what I heard in his speech was most comforting.

My biggest disappointment in this speech was the cameraman. While it was fun to watch Barky squirm , I would have enjoyed watching the Wookie. Toward the end of this wonderful speech, Skeeter was getting ready to give Dr Carson the Ryan/Hillary salute upside the nose but thought better of it.

The tea party needs to put the good doctor Mr. Carson on the tour for President; with Alan West as Vice -President. I would bet that the country would love this. The democraps would be looking under every rock to find some way to destroy the man. We could also add Mr. Cain to be Treasury Secretary

Enjoyed the article. It´s pretty euphemistic to call the Communist thought police "the PC police"... but that´s about as frank and direct as anybody could dare to go without putting a drone target on his forehead.

A flat tax, like tithing, would be fair. But power, not fairness, is the real aim of confiscatory taxation systems.

If the Republicans had any smarts at all, they would write a bill, have Dr Carter edit it and agree to be the spokesperson. It must be no more than ten pages. It must repeal Obamacare and replace it with Carter´s approach. Call it "The Ben Carter Healthcare Reform Act".

Then, do the same for taxes.

I love Dr. Carson & his speech - what an answer to prayers! I prefer that he stay where he is & talk to young brainshed Americans as a conservative model for our Republic. I would like a Rubio/DeMint ticket cause both are strong Constitutional conservatives - Rubio can talk straight to young & old alike & DeMint even though quiet speaks truth very well that can be understood. Rubio would be strong with young students,Hispanic & the poor while DeMint will be strong with even some of the Rino elites as well as conservative Tea Party types. We are going to have candidates for 2014 & 2016 who can talk "plain language" & not a 3rd Party - if you go 3rd party you will lose!!!

Watching Ben Carson speak at the Prayer Breakfast and seeing President Obama’s reaction was a great way to spend a half-hour on Sunday morning. Carson exudes goodness and hope. His anecdotes were humorous and relevant. His reasons for supporting the adoption of a flat tax and establishing a pre-tax personal health savings account for every American were apolitical and very compelling. We are fortunate to have men like Mr. Carson among us.

Dr. Carson was on Hannity Friday night. During that segment - which was very good - Dr. Carson said he´d welcome the opportunity to debate anyone in the Obama adminstration about health care. Hannity will try to bring in economist Austin Goolsbee for an appearance with Dr. Carson next week. Stay tuned...

Evangelical Christians have known of and followed this great man. He speaks in many churches. He has been on Christian TV programs for years. He makes no bones about being a devoted Christian first and foremost. I read a little article where his Mother was interviewed. Wow. She refuses a lot of accolades - she says All Glory to God for what she was able to do as a mother. She credits trusting God and obeying Him for EVERYTHING. She said any mother in any manner of dire poverty CAN do what she did. No, Dr. Carson is right. She has no sympathy for the victim mentality especially as its always conferred on single mothers now.

On-the-Job-Trainee Barack Hussein Obama, now in his fifth year – HIS FIFTH YEAR of OJT, was taken to the woodshed at last Thursday morning’s Annual Prayer Breakfast. Dr. Ben Carson was the one who took him there. Dr. Carson is known internationally for confronting challenges, accepting them and ultimately accomplishing them. Mr. Obama is known internationally for avoiding challenges, ducking them and ultimately shirking them.

With an incompetent OJT for a leader, we Americans are now facing four more disastrous years of living in Never-Never Land. God help us!

The difference in having a mother who helped her son work to acheive what he was capable of through work and responsibility. While the other mother abdicated her own responsibility to her son. One is helping people and one is destroying a country.

What an incredible man. He just draws you in when he speaks and has such a calming influence. Of course he´s the antithesis of what we now have in Washington, with the exception of a few. He´s on Laura Ingraham´s show right now and said that it´s obvious that there´s a groundswell from the people who want common sense and and for their politicians speak the truth. He was on Fox & Friends yesterday morning and he said when asked about running for president he said he was an Independent. The link is below. He will also be in Neil Cavuto´s show this afternoon.

I was just wondering how he came to be speaking at the prayer breakfast. Did the powers that be just assume, because he was black and a doctor he would be endorsing o-bomb-a-care? How did he slip past the resident´s shield?

People ARE hungering for common sense and for political leaders to speak the truth. RNC, are you listening?

Watching Obama´s rude deportment regarding Dr. Carson was certainly an eyeful. The contrast was clear and unmistakable. The good doctor represented America, the real America with graciousness, wit, and brevity. It can be done easily when these are the speaker´s core values and beliefs.

If Dr. Carson can disect Obamacare in two paragraphs, why can´t Boehner or McConnell? Why didn´t Romney? The same can be said for taxes and the toxic PC. The answer for the GOP is to go simple. Craft policy solutions based on the Constitution and our God given liberties, and communicate them with confidence. However, I have little hope that the GOP will do so because I´ve seen little evidence that these are their core values and beliefs.

Re #38, he was invited. This is not Obama´s party. Here is an excerpt about the National Prayer Breakfast - I didn´t know this before so happy to find and share:

The National Prayer Breakfast is hosted by members of the United States Congress and is organized on their behalf by The Fellowship Foundation, a conservative Christian organization more widely known as "The Family". Initially called the Presidential Prayer Breakfast, the name was changed in 1970 to the National Prayer Breakfast.

It is designed to be a forum for the political, social, and business elite to assemble and build relationships.

More here, including the fact that the breakfast itself is just one in a series of events over several days:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Prayer_Breakfast

It appears that the change in name from the "Presidential Prayer Breakfast" to the "National Prayer Breakfast" was done for a good reason - to prevent misunderstandings about who was responsible for it.

When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

What´s so interesting about 60 tea partiers protesting the IRS in San Jose, California on Tuesday, May 21st? The fact that this bit of information was conveyed to the protesters by a Department of Homeland Security officer who was also in attendance. What was a DHS agent doing at the San Jose Tea Party protest? (snip) they weren´t just spying on us in San Jose and monitoring us in San Francisco, they were watching us throughout the entire state

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa said embattled IRS official Lois Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights and will be hauled back to appear before his panel again. The California Republican said Lerner’s Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination was voided when she gave an opening statement this morning denying any wrongdoing and professing pride in her government service. “When I asked her her questions from the very beginning, I did so so she could assert her rights prior to any statement,” Issa told POLITICO. “She chose not to do so — so she waived.”
