No, David Attenborough:
Africa hasn´t warmed by 3.5

It´s not often one looks to the Guardian´s environment pages for an incisive and thorough critique of green propagandising. But hats off--really--to Leo Hickman for this ruthless deconstruction of an erroneous claim made by David Attenborough on his latest BBC nature documentary that in the last twenty years Africa has warmed by 3.5 degrees C. 3.5 degrees C in two decades? That would indeed be a remarkable temperature rise in anybody´s money. (Remember, since 1850 global mean temperatures have risen by about 0.8 degrees C--and we´re supposed to find that worrying and significant). Which is why, you might have thought

Look at the Guardian´s article, if you like, but I´m not yet ready for its pages this morning. Plus de café, garçon!

It never was about climate.

It never was about equality.

It never was about fairness.

It always was and always will be about control.

Most any vehicle will do.

Right you are #1.

"Save the planet" and "for the children" etc are smoke screens, schticks for the gullible, to take tax payer money. "I want it for myself" is illegal; "I want it for the children and to save the planet" is applauded. (So of course they have use some of the proceeds for payola and window dressing, but that´s just "how it´s done").

When one hears such propaganda from a renowned figure, one must question everything else they say.

In other words, has he lied about his professional work too? How many of his documentaries and research projects also are tainted? Can anything he says be believed? Or is he a fraud?

I have noticed many ´scientists´ forgo their professional skepticism, and should be questioned about their professional work also.

The problem for predictors of the eschaton is that either you must finally take your flock to the top of the mountain and risk ridicule when the sun sets, or you must slowly sink into irrelevance.

If there is a global warming problem, the same folks who can´t run the Post Office are unable to do anything about it -- especially with China and India´s development and coal reserves. Legislation concerning global warming is always just a red herring for the Democrats to seize more power.

A pregnant journalist is recovering in hospital today after a pro-Kremlin political leader in Russia told two male aides to ´violently rape´ her at a press conference. Nationalist Vladimir Zhironovsky launched his extraordinary tirade after reporter Stella Dubovitskaya asked him an innocuous question about sanctions against Ukraine. The founder of the far right Liberal Democratic Party began shouting wildly, before suddenly manhandling two young male aides towards the pregnant mother-of-one. He then shouted to them: ´When I say, you run to her and violently rape her.´ The parliamentary reporter, who is six months pregnant, is now being treated in hospital

A huge fire in Gibraltar, caused by a fuel tank explosion, shut down many online betting services and disrupted gamblers during a busy day of sport. Residences near the blaze were evactuated following the fire, which broke out at around 1pm local time. The explosion occurred at Gibraltar´s main power station and the fire shut down much of the area´s electricity. Thousands of residents and tourists were left without power while firefighters battled the blaze. The fire was eventually brought under control at around 4.30pm local time. A Gibraltar Government spokesman said: "The fire is under control and there are no casualties

New accounts emerge of
Charge of the Light Brigade

Immortalised in Alfred, Lord Tennyson’s poem about the “valley of death”, the Charge of the Light Brigade is remembered as one of the most glorious defeats in British history. The documents overturn much of the established wisdom of the battle and provide clues as to how the calamitous attack, during the Battle of Balaclava, in the Crimean War, came to be accidentally launched. [Snip] The charge saw the light cavalry mount an assault into a valley flanked, on three sides, by Russians. Lord Raglan, overall commander of the British forces, had intended to send the Light Brigade to pursue and

What stops the Earth from looking like Pluto is energy from the Sun. The quantity and type of energy coming from the Sun varies over cycles that range up to 1,500 years long. The cycle we can see with our own eyes, in our own lifetimes, is the sunspot cycle that is normally eleven years long. [Snip] It has become established—for those who are willing to look at the evidence—that climate will very closely follow our colder Sun. Climate is no longer a mystery to us. We can predict forward up to two solar cycles, that is about twenty-two years into the future. When models of solar activity are further refined, we may be able to predict climate

Of all the many absurdities of the great climate change non-crisis which has been pointlessly obsessing our planet this last three or four decades, surely the most egregious is this: global warming is good. No really, it is. As a few bold heretics--such as Australian geologist Ian Plimer in his book Heaven And Earth--have long been trying to tell anyone prepared to listen, the human species is designed for warmth not cold. Ice ages are something we should naturally fear; warming periods are something which for which we should yearn. All the historical evidence confirms this--that periods of warming

With her twinkling eyes and beaming smile, it is hard to believe Her Majesty will mark her 88th birthday tomorrow. This portrait of the Queen, taken by celebrated British photographer David Bailey CBE, was released today ahead of the occasion. It shows the monarch smiling at the camera - while donning a pearl necklace, earrings and a brooch. Her jewellery is accompanied by a simple dress by Angela Kelly, who has served as the Queen´s personal assistant and senior dresser since 2002. The black-and-white photograph was taken at Buckingham Palace in March and commissioned on behalf of the Government´s GREAT

At least six Birmingham schools accused of harbouring a Trojan horse plot run by Muslim fundamentalists will be placed under special measures by Ofsted. The action is understandable. The unsubtle attempts to insert Islamist ideas--representing an extremist, politicised form of Islam--into the curriculum of those schools makes for frightening reading. Equally unsettling was the liberal establishment’s failure to correct it. According to a special report by the Education Funding Agency, radical Muslims have tried to take control of teaching by first taking control of school governorships. Excellent head teachers were either reduced to the status of figureheads or forced out

For Hillary Clinton, having her own baby grandchild to kiss on the campaign trail, could be one of the biggest boosts to her possible presidential election campaign. Although the former Secretary of State and First Lady has not said if she will run in 2016, the arrival of her first grandchild will soften her image, analysts have said. While Chelsea only revealed her pregnancy on Thursday, supporters of her mother have already started cooing over a possible baby in the White House. With the Clintons having a near-royal status in the U.S., the announcement of a new arrival due this fall has sent

That was quite a victory dance President Obama did Thursday while claiming Obamacare is “working” because eight million people have now supposedly signed up for the health care program. He even indulged in some less-than-subtle mockery of Republicans - and by extension the majority of Americans who have disapproved of Obamacare since before it became law. "The repeal debate is and should be over,” Obama said, taking a dig at Republicans who are “going through, you know, the stages of grief … anger and denial and all that stuff …” But a president who is viewed by most Americans as less

GREENSBORO, Ga. — Golf holes the size of pizzas. Soccer balls on the back nine. A mulligan on every hole. These are some of the measures — some would say gimmicks — that golf courses across the country have experimented with to stop people from quitting the game. Golf has always reveled in its standards and rich tradition. But increasingly a victim of its own image and hidebound ways, golf has lost five million players in the last decade, according to the National Golf Foundation, with 20 percent of the existing 25 million golfers apt to quit in the next few years. People under 35 have especially spurned the game, saying it takes too

Hi, everybody. For millions of Americans, this time of year holds great meaning. Earlier this week, we hosted a Passover Seder at the White House, and joined Jewish families around the world in their re-tellings of the story of the Exodus and the victory of faith over oppression. And this Sunday, Michelle, Malia, Sasha, and I will join our fellow Christians around the world in celebrating the Resurrection of Christ, the salvation he offered the world, and the hope that comes with the Easter season. These holy days have their roots in miracles that took place long ago. And yet, they still inspire us, guide us, and strengthen us today. They remind us of our

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that a family of dissident ranchers and their supporters in his home state of Nevada are ´domestic terrorists,´ citing this week´s standoff with the federal government´s Bureau of Land Management. Cliven Bundy has refused to pay grazing fees for land where his hundreds of cattle roam every day. The land is owned by the federal government, which says he owes more than $1 million. Bundy, however, insists that since his family has been using the land since the 1870s, Uncle Sam can´t collect the grazing fees. A tense standoff developed this week after

In a speech earlier this week, Lisa O. Monaco, President Barack Obama’s assistant for homeland security and counterterrorism, insisted that American parents must be vigilant because their “confrontational” children could be on the verge of becoming terrorists. Monaco’s full, prepared text is available here. She presented the speech, entitled “Countering Violent Extremism and the Power of Community,” at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government on April 15. Monaco began her remarks by eloquently describing the lives tragically lost last year during the Boston Marathon bombings. Interestingly, the Harvard grad failed to mention the religion or the motive of brothers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan
