WH stung by inaugural
coverage, expect a less
partisan SOTU

Washington Examiner [DC], by Michael Barone

The well-sourced Ron Fournier of National Journal reports that White House aides say they and the president were “stung by the coverage of the inaugural address.” They were evidently surprised that the feisty liberal speech was seen as a feisty liberal speech. And so, they say, Barack Obama is going to be less partisan in his State of the Union address Tuesday and will talk more about jobs and the economy than about gun control and immigration. Sounds like still another pivot to jobs, which we’ve been hearing about for nearly four years. This apparent failure to anticipate

It is darn near impossible for him to be non-partisan. Regardless of the subjects he talks about, he will slam Republicans and everyone else his petty mind visualizes as a threat.

I think are leaking this "info" in order to throw Rubio and Rand Paul off their games -- tell everyone he´s going to be Mr Nice Guy and make Rubio and Paul soften their responses. Then, BAM, he comes out full-on Marxist at the SOTU and Rubio and Paul are stuck with their pre-prepared Mr Nice Guy responses.

I don´t care... I don´t care... I don´t care, I don´t care.....

Some comedian, whose name now escapes me, sang these words in one of his gigs - and that ditty is truly my sentiment on the SOTU address. I will not be listening to it because I have an abhorrence for LIARS!

One data point does not a trend make. If 0bama were to soften his approach for the next four years, it would hardly make a dent in his entire "career" as a community organizer.

Obama´s not going to use this speech about the economy but an excuse to hammer republicans over spending cuts he´ll claim are hurting the economy. The problem is the economy has been bad for 4 years before there was any spending cuts,in fact his spending spree did no good.

He´s trying to make a case he needs the House back next year to get anything done.

Who is really going to waste time listening to the "State of the Union" address that this fellow will regurgitate. It will be the same hollow promises of better economy, how he has done so much in the face of Republican adversity, and how Bush screwed up the world that he has yet to straighten out, since he is the one and only "Messiah"., and more blah, blah, blah. All empty words, no substance, no real plan for the American public other than to admire his magnificence. (Hurling at this point).

obama is a big believer in the 1st Amendment - for himself. And you are entitled to your own opinion as long as you agree with his beliefs. This man simply cannot tolerate the fact that someone, somewhere might not agree with his genius. he truly believes that he is the smartest person to ever walk the halls of our WH. The state of the union sucks. We don´t need him telling us anything different. After all he is an accomplished liar.

A major tea party group is planning protests at Internal Revenue Services nationwide Tuesday following revelations earlier this month that the tax agency had flagged organizations with the words "tea party" or "patriot" for additional scrutiny. The protests were originally scheduled only for Cincinnati, where the IRS has said employees responsible for the targeting were based. But Tea Party Patriots head Jenny Beth Martin tells Whispers she received requests to protest across the country. A call to action on the group´s web site tells supporters that "the IRS is out of control" and so

President Obama will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping in California on June 7-8, the White House announced Monday. It will be Mr. Obama’s first meeting with Mr. Xi since he became president of China in March. They previously met in Washington in 2011 when Mr. Xi was vice president. The talks come amid heightened U.S. tensions over cyberattacks reportedly originating in China. But the Obama administration said it has been pleased with Beijing’s cooperation in trying to persuade North Korea to reduce its belligerent military actions this spring.

The Indiana attorney general’s office confirmed Monday it is investigating a security breach in which Social Security numbers and other personal information were posted online for roughly 44,000 low-income Americans who applied for a federal program that provides discount Internet and phone service. The program was nicknamed the “Obamaphone” during the 2012 election, though it actually started long before President Obama took office. Indiana reportedly has the highest number of applicants, roughly 17,400, who were signed up by TerraCom Inc. and the affiliated YourTel America Inc. Applicants from at least 26 states were exposed to the security breach,

WASHINGTON- Apple Inc. has used an elaborate web of offshore subsidiaries to avoid paying billions of dollars in U.S. taxes on $44 billion in foreign income over the past four years, a Senate investigation has found. Many of the tactics, such as cost-sharing arrangements, are common among large multinational corporations seeking to shift profits to countries with lower tax rates. The investigation did not find Apple violated any laws. But three of its subsidiaries in Ireland claim to have no responsibility to pay income taxes to any country, according to a 40-page, bipartisan report released Monday

Monday afternoon, ABC News released a chilling report that details what journalists have faced while trying to get some answers from the Cincinnati IRS office, which is where a majority of the Tea Party targeting took place. According to ABC, an "armed uniform police officer with the Federal Protective Service" "escorted" reporters through the public building. ABC says if the intent wasn´t to "scare off" employees who might talk, "it was the effect." ABC News is also hearing conflicting reports from Cincinnati IRS employees and the IRS Headquarters in Washington.

CINCINNATI- Few workers know the IRS Cincinnati office better than Bonnie Esrig, who worked there for 24 years. She retired from her job as a senior manager in January. Esrig said she did not recall any discussion of politics in the office. "Politics and religion were things people generally didn´t talk about at work," she said. Esrig did not work on political cases and was not connected to the applications at the center of the controversy. But she worked in the same office where fewer than 200 people were dealing with 73,000 applications for exemptions last year.

What did President Obama do on the evening of 9/11/12 when our men were under attack in Benghazi? The invaluable Andrew McCarthy reminds us that Obama and Secretary Clinton had a 10:00 p.m. phone call of which many (including, I think, Chris Wallace) have lost sight. This morning when Wallace asked Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer what Obama was up to that evening, Pfeiffer declared the line of inquiry “offensive.” Translation: Obama and his minions would prefer to “move on” and are warning the likes of FNC off:(Snip for video)The Weekly Standard’s Daniel Halper has posted the rush transcript

But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

A senior adviser to President Obama mounted a combative defense of the administration on Sunday, saying the controversies enveloping the White House were the result of Republican lawmakers’ trying to “drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped-up hearings and false allegations.”The remarks came from Dan Pfeiffer, a member of the president’s inner circle, as he appeared on all five major Sunday morning talk shows in an effort to move the administration past what commentators have described as a “hell week” of controversy and missteps.

One of the questions was whether he/she was concerned about unsecured weapons in the home. Another asked whether he/she was "in a relationship in which you have been physically hurt or are you afraid of your partner?"
