| The officers´ radio crackled with an urgent warning: He could be coming your way. It was around 5 a.m. in Torrance on Thursday and police from nearby El Segundo had seen a pickup truck (Snip) officers opened fire, unloading a barrage of bullets into the back of the truck. When the shooting stopped, they quickly realized their mistake. The truck was not a Nissan Titan, but a Toyota Tacoma. The color wasn´t gray, but aqua blue. And it wasn´t Dorner inside the truck, but a woman and her mother delivering copies of the Los Angeles Times.
|
Comments: *Angel Jennings and Andrew Blankstein
The (wrong) truck was said to be near the residence of a high level LAPD officer, which was already under police protection.
No matter how much Chief Beck tries to paper over this (bad pun), I´d bet my last buck that no warning was given to these poor women. One report (only one) said the elder woman was hit in the spine and was paralyzed. She was sitting in the bed of the truck, handing papers through to her daughter who was driving and throwing them. We´ll see.

Give any LA cops the least bit of justification, and they fire dozens of shots in your general direction.
I know it´s not all, but there is just incident after incident after incident. Six guys firing all around you, are you really going to hold back? I know cops are just human, but come on guys.
Gotta salute all those TV cops who (almost) never go trigger happy.

I´m in agreement with the neighborhood resident. How could they possibly mistake two Hispanic women for a black guy? The truck was the wrong make. These idiots had visions of justice due a cop killer and they were going to provide it. I hope those women own downtown Los Angeles when this is settled.

Unbelievable that the paper and the LAPD would even attempt to explain this away! What in the world were those officers thinking? You don´t just start firing shots at a truck in the dark with no idea who is inside!
The officers involved should be in jail right now. If you or I started firing a gun at a truck, with zero evidence of any crime committed by the person in the truck, we would be in jail. Why should these police officers be treated any different? Tell it to the judge...and the jury.

Yep, and don´t forget that the Department of Homeland Security has 1,600,000,000 hollow point bullets they can use to protect us - just like the polic protected these women. I´m sure the DHS workers are of similar quality of character to these LAPD officers.

The police chief is already discredited.
He says there were two firings, one from a single officer and the second came from several who opened fire as the truck sped up towards them.
Look at the photo. There are a couple of dozen holes in the BACK of the truck.
So where could there he been a command to surrender? Why would a driver not heed police who threatened her? Be sure there will be a fantastic alibi constructed.

Every cop whose weapon was discharged in this disgraceful, dangerous incident needs a felony conviction, thereby forfeiting their right to ever own a weapon. How could you be so stupid to fire on an elderly woman driving a vehicle with the wrong make, model, color and license plate? And all those shots in the back and the driver shot in the back - there are no excuses so they should shut up and get ready to do jail time. Oh wait, it´s the police so they´re held to a much lower standard than the rest of us.

The LAPD has a "Shoot-to-kill-on-sight" order out for Dorner. This is in violation of the Law. Dorner is undoubtedly a dangerous psychopath, but so are the cops shooting up innocent people. I´ll bet there´s a lot of truth to Dorner´s claims about the LAPD.

The attempt to minimize attempted homicide by emphasizing the stress the officers were under is interesting. Perhaps the next gang member shooting up a neighborhood and bystanders can use the "stress" defense.
The police in some jurisdictions seem to lose all discipline when they feel threatened. It´s a tough job and it´s tougher when this is tolerated or encouraged.

LAPD has long had a reputation of shooting first and asking questions later.
This incident won´t foster confidence or trust in them from the public, and it´s too bad, since a truly bad man´s on the loose.
I hope these women´s survivors sue and are financially compensated for this tragedy. I hope Dorner´s caught soon as well.

Some LEO´s marksmanship skills are better than others. Not a blanket criticism by any means, just an observation based on personal experience at the range.
Obama´s brownshirts will likely be worse and less disciplined, which will be helpful when/if SHTF.

Normally a huge supporter of LEOs, they have a very difficult job. But this is too much.
Clearly very poorly trained, undisciplined cowards who are tempermentally unsuited to the job.
Not only failed to attempt to arrest the "subject", they got the kind and color of truck wrong, obviously had NO view of the occupants, so no threat was present, yet they panic like a bunch of 10th grade girls and start spraying shots.
The good news is that their marksmanship matches the rest of their training - completely incompetent. Of course, they did manage to shoot holes in the entire neighborhood, but fortunately not what they were aiming at. The Chief and training officer need to be gone. Libs in charge, this is what you get.

Kind of terrifying that the trigger-happy cops poured such a fusillade at unknown subjects--and just a bit less frightening that out of all those rounds only one was reasonably on target. Then there´s the lame attempt at a coverup. All in all, just another example of why only the police and military are to be trusted with firearms, right?

Incredible.
I read this article and saw the photo of the pick up. I counted 30 bullet holes in the back of the pick up. The article says that the police opened up on the pick up when the pick up sped away from the first volly, unfortunately towards another group of police, I am assuming that as many rounds hit the front as the back. According to the residents of the area, their cars, houses, trees and even the street itself were peppered liberaly with bullets. From these accounts, my guess is around 120 rounds fired and I think this is a conservative count. All of this to stop two poor dears trying to get by delivering newspapers. I would have thought that hanging out a window throwing newspapers while driving slowly is a pretty good indication that you are not a large black man.
Now here is what I have a problem with: the chief of; police says that he will have to wait for the results of their (I´m guessing internal) investigation to determine whether the officers involved require disciplinary measures or training. Training? Training? What does the chief want? Better grouping of the shots? What kind of pathological disconnect from morality and ethical behavior do theese people suffer from?
I am saddly reminded of something Adolph Hitler said, he said that when he took over a country the only group he did not have to worry about were the police. Hitler could always rely on the police to inforce the law, no matter what Hitler said the law was.

I hate to say it but most big city police departments are full of immature, undiscplined cowards with attitude problems nowadays, esp. in California. Just like here in SJ., I trust the Sheriffs but not the police. It seems that the kind of people they hire for the job are no longer public servants...they are power-mongering bullies who think their weapon is an extension of ther manhood (and that includes a lot of the women too). They think everyone is a criminal who just hasn´t been caught yet, but they do everything they can to avoid the truly dangerous criminals. I could tell you all sorts of stories that would curl your hair! Corruption among law enforcement is rampant, to say the least!

Gen. John Allen has been appointed special U.S. envoy on security issues in negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority. He will not mediate between the parties; his work will almost exclusively involve contacts with Israel. Allen will deal with the U.S. position on Israeli security needs and the security arrangements that would accompany the establishment of a future Palestinian state. Senior U.S. and Israeli officials note that while U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel made the appointment it was coordinated with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, who is leading the effort to restart Israeli-Palestinian negotiations.

Washington rumor has it that Obama wants to be U.N. Secretary General. There are several reasons that make that likely, and if it´s true, it throws new light on a lot of Obama´s oddities -- including his Royalty Bows, his Apology Tours, his Muslim Sellout, and the Benghazi Cover-Up. Abuse Of Power: Any scandal investigation that expects a "Eureka!" moment, a White House e-mail, or Oval Office smoking gun will be misguided. In fact, the dots are already connected directly to the president. Barack Obama is not foolish enough to have a tape recording system hidden in his desk. And his administration staff are not careless enough to send one another incriminating e-mails. If the president was behind the IRS unlawfully harassing conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status, we can be sure the communications were all sotto voce and in persona, like any good Chicago political operator.
