MIAMI - A Florida judge has approved the adoption of a 22-month-old baby girl that will list three people as parents on her birth certificate -- a married lesbian couple and a gay man. The decision ends a two-year paternity fight between the couple and a friend of the women who donated his sperm to father the child but later sought a larger role in the girl´s life. The ruling means the child´s birth certificate will include a biological father and both women as parents in an unusual arrangement approved recently by a Miami-Dade Circuit Court judge. Headline split by staff.
I too am adopting a child - - along with a Nicaraguan banana picker, a Louis Vuitton handbag, and a 1968 Buick Electra.
All four of us will be listed on the birth certificate - - and we´ll rotate custody among us. Three months with me - - three months with the banana man - - three months with the pocketbook - - and three months with the Buick.
Lets see the logic of this gay man (doesn´t want to have sex with woman) has sex with gay woman (doesn´t want to have sex with man) and yet they produce a child that the two gay women want both of their names on the birth certificate as saying they are the parents of this baby, but only one of them has donated DNA to the child and now the child has 3 count them 3 parents.... the slipper slop has now been slicked with Axel grease and the whole thing is a ugly mess. Wonderful these judges who rule from the bench unconstitutionally.
FTA: "We want Emma to have it all, and we believe by doing it this way, including him in a birthday or Thanksgiving, it´ll be a nice addition for her. We believe the best interest for Emma is for him to have a role in her life, but not as a parent," she said. "The role is this is mommy´s good friend who helped your moms have you because they wanted you so badly."
"mommy´s good friend" - the redefining of "family" and the marginalization of fathers is a perversion and a travesty. Nothing good will come of this.
Each living human being gets half their dna from each parent. Three parents means 3/2 (three halves) dna. Not possible. A "judge" can make whatever political he/she wants to, but that just flies in the face of genetic science.
What an unmitigated disaster. Talk about opening up a can of worms! The legal implications of this travesty are endless. Here is a link to the story from the Miami Herald with the judge posing with the happy family: http://tinyurl.com/bap6ueb Stunning. Just stunning.
This December 6, 1993, article by Robert Fisk of The Independent titled, "Anti-Soviet warrior puts his army on the road to peace," is stunning to consider 20 years later. Osama bin Laden, fresh off the US-backed mujahadin´s victory over Russia in 1989, flew his men, materials and money down to Sudan, ostensibly to start public works projects.-Snip-"I am a construction engineer and an agriculturalist. If I had training camps here in Sudan, I couldn´t possibly do this job."
Scientists have found the oldest DNA evidence yet of humans’ biological history. But instead of neatly clarifying human evolution, the finding is adding new mysteries. In a paper in the journal Nature, scientists reported Wednesday that they had retrieved ancient human DNA from a fossil dating back about 400,000 years, shattering the previous record of 100,000 years. The fossil, a thigh bone found in Spain, had previously seemed to many experts to belong to a forerunner of Neanderthals. But its DNA tells a very different story. It most closely resembles DNA from an enigmatic lineage of humans known as Denisovans. Until
SPRING CITY, Pa. — Frank Schaefer gets to keep calling himself a Methodist pastor — at least for the next 30 days. The United Methodist clergyman convicted of breaking church law for officiating at his son´s same-sex wedding was suspended late Tuesday, and ordered by a jury of his fellow pastors to surrender his credentials in a month if he can´t bring himself to adhere to the laws of the church´s Book of Discipline. Schaefer said he had no intention of changing his mind about the church´s teaching on homosexuality, declaring he would perform more gay marriages if asked.
Tuscaloosa, Ala. - Alabama´s football team is steaming toward Saturday´s showdown with rival Auburn and a possible third consecutive national championship. The team has lost only two games in the past three seasons. But here in Tuscaloosa, there is one small pocket of dissatisfaction—and it´s an important one. It is located inside the home shared by Terry Saban and her husband of 42 years, Nick, the team´s head coach. The first couple of Alabama football may be standing on top of the world, but it isn't necessarily thrilled by the view. "You come to a crossroads and the expectations get so great,
Virginia State Sen. Creigh Deeds -- who was stabbed Tuesday morning in his Bath County home -- was upgraded to fair condition Tuesday afternoon. Democratic sources tell News4 that his son, Austin "Gus" Deeds, attacked him before fatally shooting himself.-snip-State police would not comment on reports that Gus Deeds was released from Bath Community Hospital Monday following a mental health evaluation performed under an emergency custody order. The Richmond Times-Dispatch reported a psychiatric bed could not be found for him over a wide area of western Virginia.
Criminals take note; You´re taking a chance if you try to ply your trade in the Dodge County town of Rhine. Local law enforcement is praising townspeople for some de facto community policing, after tracking down and helping catch an armed robbery suspect. For 60-year-old Ken Lowery the commotion began around 2:30 Thursday afternoon as he stepped inside Aden´s convenience store and encountered the store clerk in distress. "The lady screamed at me and said ´I´ve been robbed, he´s got a gun, and I gave him all the money,´" Lowery recalled. Lowery says he saw the suspected gunman, identified as 24-year-old Damien Durham
The family of an abducted Louisiana woman rescued her and killed her abductor Friday, according to news reports. Bethany Arceneaux, 29, was kidnapped Wednesday by Scott Thomas, 29, as she picked their child up from daycare, police said. Police and family members in Lafayette Parish began searching for her immediately.-snip-“We did what we had to do. We did not wait for authorities. We did it our own self,” said Harold Carter, Arceneaux’s older brother.
The question all week long was this: Who are you going to believe, an illegal alien or the president of the United States of America? Obviously, if it’s a president who once went by an alias, Barry Soetoro, you go with Uncle Omar, 100 percent, no questions asked. And so it was that the White House finally admitted to another, uh, misstatement — despite previous denials, Barack/Barry did sleep on his beloved Uncle Omar’s couch in Cambridge when he first moved here to attend Harvard Law School (speaking of which, we’re still waiting to see the president’s grades and his LSAT scores). But the
More young men in California rise in pitch at the end of their sentences when talking, new research shows. This process is known as "uptalk" or "valleygirl speak" and has in the past been associated with young females, typically from California or Australia. But now a team says that this way of speaking is becoming more frequent among men.The findings were presented at the Meeting of the Acoustical Society of America in California. "We found use of uptalk in all of our speakers, despite their diverse backgrounds in socioeconomic status, ethnicity, bilingualism and gender," said Amanda Ritchart, a linguist at the University of
How do you get your arms around the catastrophe known as Obamacare? Is it even possible? At this point, I’m not sure it is. The list of individual disasters which threaten to ruin one-sixth of the U.S. economy and what has been, up until now, the best healthcare system in the world is exhaustive, and exhausting. The examples I will identify here barely scratch the surface. First but by no means foremost, we have the supposedly new and improved HealthCare.gov. Except it’s not, even the visible part. Stories still abound of people still failing to get in or to get through the enrollment
DAVID CORN: I saw a president who remains frustrated with the political-media culture that he has to work within, and that he´s looking to rally people, students here, and supporters, and people within the media. CHRIS MATTHEWS: But David Corn, you skeptic. He came to us today. He came amongst us. CORN: He´s trying to rally people behind this vision that he´s been promoting for a couple years. FINEMAN: By the way, he did it the end here, today, Chris, not by defending specifics, but by explaining why he´s in the game to begin with. And I don´t know about you, he´s
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced a new five-year strategic plan to improve safety for elderly drivers and passengers. Although they are statistically among the safest on the road, the number of older drivers is increasing dramatically — and with it, that group´s numbers of injuries and deaths. Since 2003, the population of older adults, defined as age 65 and older, has increased by 20% and the number of licensed older drivers increased by 21% to 35 million in 2012, according to NHTSA. Last year, NHTSA reported that 5,560 people older than 65 died and 214,000 were injured
The most curious thing of all about the November jobs report released on Friday was the huge drop in the unemployment rate — and the fact that the Labor Department chose not to disclose that the data going into that figure are under investigation for falsification. On Nov. 19, I broke the news in my column that the Census Bureau, which collects data that goes into the jobless rate on behalf of Labor, had caught one of its enumerators fabricating interviews in 2010. The culprit said back then (and to me during an interview) that he was told to do so by
