| RUSH: I also got an e-mail. I´ve had a couple like this. Actually, more than a couple. This one is the most succinct. This guy lives in Boston. Dear Rush: Why aren´t the Republicans screaming from the rooftops every day about Obama´s middle class tax increases? Rush, my take-home pay has dropped $300 a month due to tax increases, inflation hitting everywhere, especially in my utilities, heating bills going through the roof, food. Everybody I know is getting hit. Everybody I know is getting hit the same way.

I heard this with my own ears today, and the first thing I thought of was the 500 million that went down the toilet for Obama´s friends at Solyndra..same amount of money, folks. (House Progressive Caucus, Jan Schakowsky, Democrat, Illinois, with a press conference to talk about a plan to cancel the sequester. SCHAKOWSKY: It´s time that we take off just the green eye shade and look at the people behind the cuts that have been made: $600 million of cuts to community health centers, $500 million in cuts to the Women, Infants, and Children nutrition program)

Welcome to the ´New Normal´. Or back to the ´Carter Years´.
$85 Billion a month, comes to just over a Trillion a year, in new money printed. M2 has increased from 8.5 Trillion in 2010 to 10.5 Trillion in 2013. Comes to around 23% per year.
Burning food (corn) for fuel, outlawing coal, and other energy restrictions will soon kick in. Higher taxes, higher medical care costs, and increased regulations will also hurt the US.
Welcome back, Carter.

The real blame for these twisted Democrats are the twisted voters, low info and otherwise, that keep them in office. We can complain long and hard about our politicians but at the end of the day is We, the People that puts them in office.

The Democrats, from Obama downward, are united in opposing any meaningful cuts to the bloated national budget. These sequester reductions are likely the only real cuts we will see all year - providing the Republican leadership can resist the compromise traps offered by those who only want to tax more so they can sepend more.

According to Rush yesterday, at the end of 10 years the debt is predicted to be at $44 trillion $$. If sequester is enacted, at the end of 10 years, the debt will be $1.x trillion $$ LESS. According to him, sequester is a nothingburger. Obama is using it to scare the pubbies.

Talk about art imitating life. I landed upon a classic movie while surfing TV channels. Kirk Douglas played a down-on-his-luck news reporter. When I began watching the movie, a man named Leo was trapped in a collapsed cave. Douglas managed to crawl within a few feet of Leo and was chatting with Leo, assuring the scared man that he would be rescued ASAP. But secretly, Douglas had other plans. Keeping Leo trapped for at least seven days could revive Douglas´s career. He had exclusive access to Leo. Writing daily updates could produce tremendous financial rewards;

Over the weekend, I saw an article by Heather Long complaining that Obama has turned out to be a lot like Bush: "This isn´t the president so many took to the streets to cheer on in 2008. And the blame for that can´t be placed solely on partisan politics or the media´s thirst for a good scandal." Miss Long reminisces about the excitement of election night 2008. She saw people in the streets celebrating the coming of Obama. She recalls the anticipation of a new day, here, there and everywhere. Well, I also remember election night 2008.

Film and television stars hit Republicans on Wednesday for their opposition to abortion rights and free access to birth control. Stanley Tucci, Morena Baccarin, Mehcad Brooks and others appeared in a Web video where they slammed conservative positions on women´s health as retrograde. The international Center for Reproductive Rights (CRR) is behind the multi-stage campaign to push President Obama to make women´s health issues a centerpiece of his second term. The group is also raising support for its Bill of Reproductive Rights.

As the old saying goes, beware of Greeks bearing gifts; but as the new saying goes, beware even more of Republicans bearing bribes. In either case, one could get destroyed (or at least corrupted) from the inside by trusting the wrong people. Since 2006, with the beginnings of the breakaway of populist conservatives from the national Republican Party via the Tea Party movement, the GOP has been trying to figure out how to co-opt and capture it once again, just as George W. Bush did with many elements of the conservative movement in the early years of the 21st century.

Major news outlets in recent days have reported that U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius is raising money from the private sector—including from health-care executives—for use by a private entity that is helping to implement ObamaCare. The entity, Enroll America, is run by a former White House aide. The Washington Post quoted an HHS spokesman last week saying, "We requested additional money [from Congress] . . . but we didn´t receive any additional funding for the exchanges. So we had to come up with Plan B." My immediate thought was: Isn´t "Plan B" what got

Every day brings new revelations about who knew what about the IRS targeting conservative groups during President Obama´s re-election campaign, but the overall impression is of a vast federal bureaucracy run amok. While the White House continues to peddle the story of a driverless train wreck, taxpayers are being treated to a demonstration of the dangers of an unwieldy and unaccountable administrative state. Look, Ma, no hands! In his press events, Mr. Obama has said that while he learned about the Cincinnati rogues on the news, he plans to "hold accountable those who have taken these outrageous actions."

Scandal Watch: New evidence makes it clear that the Internal Revenue Service campaign against conservatives wasn´t the result of two "rogue" agents, but was directed from higher up. The question is, how high up? The claim that a couple of workers in the bowels of an IRS office in Cincinnati managed to block tax-exempt applications from conservative groups for more than two years, while subjecting them to outrageous, intrusive and improper requests for information, started falling apart days ago. Last weekend, the Washington Post quoted a staffer saying that "everything comes from the top" at the IRS.

Former Rep. Anthony Weiner, whose career in public life came to an abrupt end when he sent lewd pictures to a college student on Twitter, jumped back into politics on Wednesday by announcing a bid for mayor of New York City. “Look, I’ve made some big mistakes and I know I’ve let a lot of people down,” the Democrat said in a 2-minute video announcing his bid. “But I’ve also learned some tough lessons. I’m running for mayor because I’ve been fighting for the middle class and those struggling to make it for my entire life.

The dam protecting the IRS scandal began to crack today when Lois Lerner, the IRS official who announced, and apologized for, the improper singling out of conservative-leaning organizations by IRS employees under her command, announced through her criminal defense lawyer that she will not testify as scheduled tomorrow before the House Oversight Committee. Rather, she will assert her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. This marks an enormous milestone in the IRS investigation. It can now be taken as more or less established that crimes were committed by Obama administration employees. Lerner’s lawyer tried to minimize the significance

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd. Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight committee Wednesday.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa said embattled IRS official Lois Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights and will be hauled back to appear before his panel again. The California Republican said Lerner’s Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination was voided when she gave an opening statement this morning denying any wrongdoing and professing pride in her government service. “When I asked her her questions from the very beginning, I did so so she could assert her rights prior to any statement,” Issa told POLITICO. “She chose not to do so — so she waived.”

Former Democratic National committee chairman Howard Dean considers the controversy over Benghazi a “joke” and “silly.” “Benghazi is a laughable joke,” Dean proclaimed twice in a discussion with Republican National Committee communications chairman Sean Spicer last week. “With all due respect, governor, when four Americans die serving this country, that’s not a joke, sir,” Spicer responded. “Oh, stop it,” said Dean. The former Democratic presidential candidate also said that there were “no serious questions being asked about Benghazi” and brushed it off as an effort by Republicans to score political points.

There’s really no reason for the press to suggest that the recent slew of scandals involving the Obama administration — Benghazi, the AP phone-record seizure, the snooping in James Rosen’s e-mail, the IRS’s targeting of conservative groups, and so on — are a confusing jumble. There is a very clear thread running through all of the administration’s actions: The U.S. deputy chief of mission in Libya, Gregory Hicks, says that he was told not to speak to a member of Congress about Benghazi without a State Department lawyer present, that he received a phone call from Hillary Clinton’s
