| As he continues to fill out his cabinet, a report emerged late Wednesday that President Obama is "close to choosing" Chicago billionaire Penny Pritzker as America´s next Secretary of Commerce. There´s only one problem. She and her secretive family have been caught up in some pretty dodgy commercial ventures including but not limited to dodging taxes and running a bank that specialized in subprime mortgages. A company I worked with decades ago had close dealings with the Hyatt Pritzkers, but steered clear of Penny. She was considered to be "shady" and dishonest back then.

Folks, I´m beginning to believe that Obama has an unconscious drive or pull to behave in a way that will cause us (the American public) and HIMSELF a lot of trouble. Surely, to Heaven, he realizes (at some level) how contentious these choices are!

Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.
