| ‘We’ve got to get rid of the immigration issue altogether,” said Sean Hannity in the aftermath of the election. “It’s simple for me to fix it . . . it’s got to be resolved . . . first secure the border, pathway to citizenship, done, you know whatever little penalties you want to put in there, if you want, but then it’s done.” (Snip)The real problem is that many Hispanics feel that Republicans don’t respect them. That feeling of disrespect — amplified by the liberal press —emerges from many things that Republicans say, and rhetoric on immigration
|
Comments: This is what Rubio keeps trying to tell us. And, if you listen to Ted Cruz, he agrees. We can´t keep referring to Hispanics as if they are all illegal border-crossers and welfare addicts.

I just spent 1 and 1/2 hours listening to local talk radio discuss this issue. With the exception of ONE hispanic, ALL had chips on their shoulders. The attitude is "we´re here now, so what are you going to do about it"? The callers really rubbed me the wrong way. Instead of being sympathetic, I now think they should go back and take La Raza with them. None had anything positive to say about being here. Talk about mind-numbed robots!

I don´t give a damn what Rubio says. Virtually every new border crosser will be a democrat voter and a burden on our resources. Heck no. No ILLEGALS getting citizenship with all the attached benefits. No, ALL are not bad but too many illegals are drug smugglers, human traffickers, gang members, and petty criminals. Even the ones that are just good people are very low skilled and we do not need them or the privilege of paying for their education, food stamps, health care, etc. Unemployment is 7.9. We need to add to that???? FOR WHAT? Keep Importing mexicans and make them legal voters and the country will be nothing but another bananna republic in no time. So quit the bull. This is ONLY about getting votes for the Dems and RINOS. Just who the heck are these petty tyrants to give our country away?

Here´s the problem. There are two types of Hispanics. Those like Rubio, Cruz, and Colon and then there´s the LaRaza illegals. Guess who makes their case in the media? If Rubio gets a national audience to hear him after the State of the Union address, maybe just maybe, he´ll be heard

It is not all about illegals. Think of the Hispanic citizens who live here and have lived here for generations. It is offensive and insulting to them for us to consider all Hispanics an offensive lump of intruders. They are proud members of the Armed Forces, legislators, Scout leaders, teachers, neighbors.
There is a difference, my friends.

He is barking up the wrong tree. Jeb Bush speaks fluent Spanish, has a Hispanic wife. If he is nominated do you think Hispanics are going to flock to the Republican ticket in droves? Don´t hold your breath. Mr. Roy is right in the statement that you must understand where they ´live´ in their minds and their consciousness. That does not bode well for anyone preaching secure borders first (your cousin cannot get through), limited government (lack of services you ´deserve´), low taxes (you don´t pay any), individual liberty (just a free license for whitey to discriminate and get rich at your expense). We need a great communicator like RR. But then what else is new?

If you bother to read the article without your bias leading the way, it´s a very good, level-headed analysis.
Lumping anyone hispanic in with illegal immigrants is the problem many conservatives have, and the contempt that accompanies that pre-judging comes across as We Don´t Like You. Why would a legal citizen of any stripe vote for a group a candidate who represents a mentality like that?

Even more simple: Enforce the laws already on the books. In fact, I would like to read just what the laws say and ask the question; if we already have immigration laws and they are being ignored, what is the point of new laws? I think the only objective of certain people pushing this issue, an issue that does not benefit the average American, is to open this country to an onslaught of economic migrants, for their own nefarious purposes. Therefore my answer to the problem is; Enforce the Laws, now! That really would get rid of the issue, Sean.

Hey 7. Nobody said ALL and you know it.
Just because there are good legal hispanics here does not eliminate the issues of criminals crossing the border every day. And giving them the grand prize of legal status doesn´t make them model citizens or make them like conservatives. How about the hispanic community standing up for the rule of law instead of La Raza tribalism?
You want respect, then respect the laws and respect the borders. This is nothing but amnesty pure and simple for no other reason but political power.

These folks disrespect us by demanding that we ignore our own borders and own laws. When they steal across our borders, steal our SSNs and identities, steal our public benefits, they are nothing more than thieves. Thieves don´t get my respect, neither do people who support thieves for political gain.

This is a fake issue. Some of the politicians who created this problem are no longer living, for example Ted Kennedy. This entire issue is between politicians and US citizens. That is, politicians must admit they intentionally ruined our country and our lives sometimes causing death by refusing to secure the border. People who cross Mexico´s border are do not expect respect. They´re lucky to get out without being beaten up or killed.

I´m supposed to "respect" illegal aliens who broke into my country and now demand to be treated exactly like the honest, law abiding people who came here the right way?
Never. Immigration "reform" is an immoral redistribution plan in disguise, cooked up by politicians. It asks nothing of Mexico´s wealthy. It allows Mexico to wash its hands of millions of its own poor, and transfers the responsibility for their care and feeding to struggling Americans. It´s designed to lower our own standard of living in preparation for more global control at the expense of American sovereignty. And our politicians are in on it. God save us from the Bush family.

I personally have no respect for people who break our immigration laws, and, by extension, I have no respect for any American who does not respect our immigration laws. I don´t care if you´re hispanic, greek, or an Icelander.
It´s pathetic that we have republicans (Rubio, for one), turning their backs on our laws, refusing to instead call unwaveringly for enforcement of our laws.
If anyone thought republicans were the last bastion of fairness and upholding the law, well, obviously, you can forget about that!

Don´t forget it is virtually impossible to enter this country if you came from overseas - but it is so much easier when you have a lovely long land border and your goons control 90 miles of the USA north of the border. Come here legally, or not at all.

Hispanics will never vote for Republicans in large numbers-never. Even Reagan, who gave them amnesty, still didn´t receive a majority of their votes in his re-election. They are no different from the Black community whining about "victim hood" and demanding entitlements. Illegal Mexicans are used to being subjects not citizens and the government doing everything for them, this a cultural attitude that we can´t change. illegal Cubans are a different story altogether, they are less likely to be on welfare and more likely to vote GOP.

Hannity is stupid on this issue. If the wimpy Republicans ever give the liberal Democrats the political cover they need to put just about all the 11-20 million illegal aliens here now on a special path to citizenship, as Hannity appears to be happy to go along with, something that has never been done before in the history of US immigration law, before the wimpy Republicans figure out what is happening, the liberal Democrats through their political allies, the many very liberal ethnic and immigrant rights groups who operate in immigrant communities across the country will have already signed up 10 million or so new Democrat voters.
Once the liberal Democrats have that many new voters on line, they will be able to change the political balance of the country and send the wimpy Republicans on a long-term slide to political suicide. After that happens, you have to wonder what Hannity will propose next?

We supposedly took care of this problem in the 1980´s with Simpson-Mazzoli, but as usual, the government didn´t do its due dilligence to follow the law it passed.
So now rather than solve a problem, we want to open another can of worms that will further be disregarded as some quick and easy solution that has to be resolved so fast that a bad idea will become law.
Ever since Hannity began putting his stamp on this, I have stopped listening to him and all his ´pals´ like Juan Williams.
Guest workers, anchor babies, lawlessness are much more serious issues than in trying to pander to "instant voters" for either party. Certainly nobody can be against someone trying to better themselves, but right now, its money and jobs taken out of US citizens´ pockets.....

I´d like to see the source for all these conservatives who are lumping all Hispanics in with the illegal immigrants & welfare addicts. I listen to Rush just about every day & have never heard it from him or any of my local conservatives - Edd Hendee, Michael Berry, Dan Patrick, or Chris Baker.
Sean says "first secure the border" - 0bama has already nixed this so that´s a non-starter. Still want to have immigration reform without it?
FTA: According to some conservatives, Hispanics are a natural liberal constituency, owing to their lower income and education levels
Actually, I frequently hear they are natural social conservatives due to their Catholicism.
FTA: How many of us talk politics with our Hispanic friends? How many of us have Hispanic friends?
I do. I have several conservative Hispanic friends. Only 1 is Cuban-American & all the rest are Mexican-American. One interesting insight I learned from one of them was that many Hispanics respect Hillary for staying with her unfaithful husband in contrast to many Anglos who see it as a sign of weakness & lack of self-respect.

FTA: Republicans could probably boost their performance with Hispanics simply by requiring any Republican candidate for Congress or statewide office to take a beginner’s course in the language of Latin America.
Seriously? "Requiring"? Our Republic is in crisis but please take time away from trying to come up with ideas to keep us from turning into Greece so you can study Espanol? This sort of thing is why the term "Hispandering" was invented. I´d rather they take a course in the U.S. Constitution - preferably taught by Ted Cruz.
The GOP showed all kinds of respect to Hispanics at their convention, but the media quashed any coverage of it - deliberately cutting away to commentators when anybody not lily white took the stage.

There’s a huge red flag in the Benghazi mess, but conservatives are letting the media get away with using a red herring to avoid it. Give the establishment media credit for obstinacy: Once it settles on a standard narrative or explanation for a particular subject, it shows remarkable discipline in explaining away any evidence that contradicts its own approved spin. So it has been with the media’s 250-day old determination to downplay the scandalous nature of the Obama administration’s treatment of its outpost in Benghazi before, during, and after the terrorist attack there that took four American lives.

Lawmakers across the country are tussling over the Obama administration´s plans to create a small army of assistants to guide millions of Americans as they sign up for new health-insurance options available this fall. Backers of the health-care overhaul face an uphill battle to spread the word about the law, in the face of consumer research that suggests most uninsured people know little about it and are skeptical about the value of health insurance generally. Some Democrats have openly worried that the administration is doing too little to make sure the enrollment process goes smoothly. That is where the "patient navigators"

Labor unions are breaking with President Obama on ObamaCare. Months after the president’s reelection, a variety of unions are publicly balking at how the administration plans to implement the landmark law. They warn that unless there are changes, the results could be catastrophic. The United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW) — a 1.3 million-member labor group that twice endorsed Obama for president — is very worried about how the reform law will affect its members’ healthcare plans. Last month, the president of the United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers and Allied Workers released a statement calling “for repeal

Since Hillary Clinton last came up to Capitol Hill, we’ve learned senior State Department officials sought to scrub references to terrorism from the infamous Benghazi talking points to insulate Foggy Bottom from political criticism — citing concerns of their “building’s leadership” to justify the demands. The rising temperature of the scandal means it’s possible that Hillary could be asked to return and testify again. If she comes back, she had better be prepared, says House Oversight and Government Reform chairman Darrell Issa. “We are interviewing lots of people, most of them under oath,” Issa says, describing the “methodical” approach his committee

We hear a lot, these days, about how President Obama is not like Lyndon Johnson and thanks be to heaven for that small mercy. The point seems to be that the president doesn´t know how to arm twist, sweet talk, bribe, and emasculate both friend and enemy (of which he truly had neither) in order to further his agenda. Since many among the chattering class believe, still, in that agenda, his is generally regarded as an excellent presidency. More whistleblowers will emerge shortly in the escalating Benghazi scandal, according to two former U.S. diplomats who spoke with PJ Media Monday afternoon. These whistleblowers, colleagues of the former diplomats, are currently securing legal counsel because they work in areas not fully protected by the Whistleblower law. According to the diplomats, what these whistleblowers will say will be at least as explosive as what we have already learned about the scandal, including details about what really transpired in Benghazi that are potentially devastating to both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”
