The Root Cause of Gun Violence
American Spectator, by Peter Ferrara

Original Article

Posted By:StormCnter, 2/7/2013 6:09:43 AM

Aside from a few, brave, truth-tellers, all of the discussion in Washington boils down to one theme — Why More Power and Money Should Be Transferred from You to Me. Of course, the sophists never say that directly. They always say it is for the children, or the poor, or the middle class, or the elderly, or the sick. But watch what they do, not what they say. In the end, every Washington Establishment initiative, proposal, or campaign is always aimed at the same result — power and money taken from you, to be given to them.

So you might say that the root cause of our predicament is Lyndon Baines Johnson and his Great Society programs, which directly led to the breakdown of the family, particularly the black family.

Thank you! I have been leaving just this message everywhere the "we are taking away your Second Amendment Rights for the children...to reduce violence" etc etc. bs is published.

In reality, they are trying to take away your Second Amendment Rights so they can control the population without fear of retribution...more power to them, no power to YOU.

End of story.

This is where the conversation about violence should begin. The breakdown of the family is the root of many problems we face in this country. However, it won´t be discussed because it puts the source of those problems on failed democrat policies and we know that will never happen. Democrats are uninterested in solutions that don´t entail more control and power. Also, where are the leaders in the entitlement community, both black amd white, who are willing to acknowledge so many of their problems are a result of the breakdown of the family unit? No one wants to talk about this.

Inner city violence - no question, breakdown of the family is the root cause.

Mental illness, however, can strike anywhere. The inner city, the suburbs, rural farms, you name it. Long-time, happily married families can have a child with mental illness. Single moms in the ghetto can have a child with mental illness.

You can´t solve the problem of gun violence in these disparate situations the same way. Making it more difficult for the seriously mentally ill to get hold of weapons will save lives.

This is great stuff - use it to break the propaganda of our enemies. The by-line on the original article is: If Obama & Co. are helpless to prevent gang warfare, what are they doing trying to disarm the law-abiding? Ferrara notes that in Chicago, just this month, 25 young people have been killed with guns - but nobody hears about it because it does not promote the narrative of the politicians. Then he argues - Is is common sense to take guns away from the victims of crimes and yet not be able to take them away from the criminals?

Reply 6 - Posted by: TunnelRat, 2/7/2013 7:57:26 AM     (No. 9163134)

1) The article makes some good points. Unfortunately, these good points don´t show up until well after the author accuses Mr. Obama of being a Marxist. While that may play well with those of us who already disagree with the President, it´s not going to serve to convince anybody else.

2)"But if someone in that parking lot crowd where Giffords was shot by another crazed gunman had a concealed carry permit, and was armed, some of the six people who lost their lives that day would have been far more likely to still be with us."

Sorry, but it is my understanding that there was indeed at least one person there with a concealed carry permit, but did not use his firearm...

Reply 7 - Posted by: Coy860, 2/7/2013 8:15:09 AM     (No. 9163167)

More gun laws will change nothing, except to make the law abiding more vulnerable to gun violence from others.
Congress can make all the laws it wants to prevent house fires, but they will still happen.
Congress can make all the laws it wants to prevent car accidents, but they will still happen.
There over 300 million people in the USA and a very small percentage of them will become violent. I wish it were different, but it´s not.

Here´s a simple fact of life in American politics:

Democrats create problems, so they can be the ones to march in and claim to solve them.

(Of course, what they never - in decades! - seem to realize and understand (or own) are their UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES. The results of their manipulations to GET the problems they want to then solve, always always ALWAYS get magnified, expanded, and enlarged many times over, exponentially.

They are absolutely the stupidest humans on the planet. Without a doubt. THAT´s the root cause of gun violence ... their constant pandering to the lowest common denominator, stirring up their (false) emotions creating REAL emotions in their intended constituency, and creating serious life-and-death situations all over the place.

And they want US to allow THEM ... now?! ... to solve them? ESPECIALLY this one?

Yeah, no.

The stark reality is that Democrats care nothing about the individuals they claim to be helping. No sane person, except the Democrat racists, would claim policies that have destroyed black families have somehow been successful. Democrats continue to have a plantation mentality and believe the black people need to be controlled so they will vote Democrat.

There is no long term benefit to society in making more and more people, black, brown or white, dependent on Democrat instigated give away programs. The Democrat controlled school systems are perfectly happy with so many low income students never learning to read. The whole process is about money that comes back to the Democrats so they can control more and more people. In the meantime, more and more low income students are unable to qualify for jobs that will enable them to experience the American Dream.

The Democrats´ lost decade?

Democrats fell far short of winning the House in 2012, an otherwise banner year for the party, and many are privately glum about taking back the chamber in 2014. But that grim immediate outlook raises a far more troubling longer-term prospect for Democrats: that the newly drawn congressional lines have tilted the electoral playing field so decisively in the GOP’s favor that the party could control the House through 2020. That this, in other words, could be the Democrats’ Lost Decade. Three of the past four elections have produced partisan upheaval, so political forecasting must be approached with caution.

Men´s Wearhouse no longer likes the way George Zimmer looks. Zimmer, the founder, chairman and the public face of the discount apparel chain, has been terminated by the company, according to a brief statement from the company. Men´s Wearhouse gave no reason for Zimmer´s departure -- which surfaced on Wednesday, just hours before the company postponed its annual shareholders meeting. A company spokesman declined comment but said Zimmer´s departure would not affect operations.

Obama to Charlie Rose, yesterday: I’ve stood up a privacy and civil liberties oversight board made up of independent citizens, including some fierce civil libertarians. I’ll be meeting with them and what I want to do is to set up and structure a national conversation not only about these two programs but also about the general problem of these big data sets because this is not going to be restricted to government entities. The board Obama is referring to was created in 2004. Nominations and confirmation delays prevented the board from being particularly effective,

Obama never fails to enlist children in his secularist crusades, whether at home or abroad. Last week he trotted out two nine-year-old girls to introduce him at a White House event celebrating “LGBT Pride Month.” “We could not be prouder of Zea and Luna for the introduction,” he said. “Zea and Luna are here with their moms, and also I think with Grandma and Grandpa — correct? And so feel free to congratulate them afterwards for their outstanding introduction.” Zea and Luna proved useful to Obama not only as props for LGBT rights but also as mouthpieces for his gun-control agenda:

With dozens of Democratic lawmakers struggling to live on a food stamp budget to protest GOP cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, a Republican staffer says he is living on a SNAP budget without problems. Texas Republican Rep. Steve Stockman’s communications director and agriculture policy advisor, Donny Ferguson, says he has been able to eat well on $27.58 for a week, less than the $31.50 House Democrats have limited themselves to for their “SNAP Challenge.” “I wanted to personally experience the effects of the proposed cuts to food stamps. The ongoing saga of Edward Snowden has at least been moving in the right direction for President Obama. Snowden may once have tried to position himself as a whistleblower, but he has since devolved into ingratiating himself with authoritarian regimes by plying them with American national security secrets. While Pete is correct that the NSA story seems to be hurting voters’ opinion of Obama’s trustworthiness, Americans are by now realizing that they would be foolish to go the other extreme and place that trust in Snowden. It is also (understandably) distracting the public’s attention from the scandals that preceded it,

In two contexts the Obama administration has revealed its complete confusion about high-stakes negotiations and the interrelation of soft and hard power. In Syria, after dragging his feet for two years, trying to fudge over his own “red line” and coming up with a half-hearted move to give small arms to the rebels, President Obama discovers that he can’t budge Russia, which has backed Bashar al-Assad to the hilt. The Post reports that at the Group of 8 summit: Obama has demanded that Assad relinquish power as part of any negotiated peace settlement, a condition Putin rejects.

A group of whistleblowers, including a number of aviation experts, have come forward in a new documentary to claim that the official explanation for the crash of TWA Flight 800 was wrong and a gas tank explosion did not bring down the flight off the coast of Long Island 17 years ago. However, the six whistleblowers, all part of the original investigation team, stopped short of saying the plane was shot down. Flight 800, a Boeing 747, had just taken off from JFK airport with 230 people aboard on July 17, 1996 enroute to Paris when it exploded

An attorney whose firm represents two Benghazi whistleblowers said Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, lied to the Senate when he said there was never a “stand down” order during the Benghazi attack on Sept. 11, 2012. “What was fascinating is that he explained his lie to them,” Joe DiGenova, an attorney representing one of the whistleblowers, told CNSNews.com. “He actually said they were sent to Tripoli. They were needed in Benghazi,” said DiGenova, a former U.S. attorney, now with the Washington firm of DiGenova & Toensing.

Amid a steady rise of backlash, Edward Snowden, the 29-year-old former National Security Agency contractor who was the source of a spring of leaks about the agency´s surveillance methods, conducted a live chat on The Guardian´s website Monday morning. Judging from some of the pointed questions he´s been asked and the reaction to newly leaked revelations over the past few days, it´s clear that much of the sympathy and support Snowden had built up for his early exposures is eroding. Many Americans supported his decision to leak information about a pair of National Security Agency surveillance programs, which, he detailed, gathered information

Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.

Marco Rubio. Paul Ryan. The IRS. Illegal immigration. And fraud to the tune of billions.. Now there’s a combustible mix. Let’s start with the IRS, illegal immigration and fraud. We’ll come back in a minute to Senator Rubio and Congressman Ryan. For those who came in late, a year before the IRS scandals burst onto the scene in early May of 2013, an alert investigative reporter for WTHR-Indianapolis (Channel 13), Bob Segall by name, produced a stunning piece of journalism. Segall’s video report is found here and we will quote from his story for the basics.

The Obamas never miss an opportunity to mingle with the stars and during a two-day trip in Dublin, who better to have lunch with than iconic Irish rocker and philanthropist Bono? First Lady Michelle along with daughters Malia, 14, and Sasha, 11, started Tuesday with an hour-long visit to picturesque Glendalough in the Wicklow Mountains--but the two girls looked like they would have rather slept in at their luxury hotel. Glendalough is famous for its Medieval monastic settlement founded in the 6th century by St Kevin, the hermit priest.
