| (Jerusalem) - A research center that Syria said had been hit by an Israeli air strike last week appears to have remained unscathed in the attack, according to satellite images broadcast by Israeli television on Wednesday. Diplomats, Syrian rebels and security sources said Israeli jets had bombed a convoy near the Lebanese border last week, apparently hitting weapons destined for the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, which fought a 34-day war with Israel in 2006. Syria denied the assertions, saying the target was the Jamraya military research complex on the northwestern fringes of Damascus, 8 miles from the border.

Comments:
Observers in the area saw Israeli jets flying over the region from 4:30 Tuesday afternoon to 7:30 the next morning. That would seem to indicate they were looking for something other than a fixed target. Any damage done to the facility was done by rebel mortars.

It is difficult to rely on any info from the Arabs. They view lying as an art form. During the active Afghan fighting I got so tired of hearing that the U.S. just bombed another wedding. You would think that they had a wedding at every house every day. And another camera shot...where two guys carry a "wounded" comrade in a mad rush at the camera veering off at the last minute while the "woundee" does a Betty Davis routine with fake blood... Of course, our media dutiful run those stories straight up.

Al-taqqiya cuts both ways. One reason why arabic armies haven´t done as well in modern warfare with Israel is that they sometimes get tripped over by their own propaganda in wartime & commanders do not provide accurate & reliable information to their own leaders and militaries of other arabic allied nations. Thus far... This may change if al-Mahdi unites both Sunnis & Shiites in their last genocidal attempt AKA Armageddon.

Iran and Hezbollah, its Lebanese proxy, are building a network of militias inside Syria to preserve and protect their interests in the event that President Bashar al-Assad’s government falls or is forced to retreat from Damascus, according to U.S. and Middle Eastern officials. The militias are fighting alongside Syrian government forces to keep Assad in power. But officials believe Iran’s long-term goal is to have reliable operatives in place in the event that Syria fractures into separate ethnic and sectarian enclaves. A senior Obama administration official cited Iranian claims that Tehran was backing as many as 50,000 militiamen in Syria.
