Barbara Walters, who’s battling the chicken pox, says she expects to miss another three weeks on “The View” — and revealed she suffered a concussion when she fell in DC last month. Walters, 83 — who’s been off the air since she fainted and hit her head during an inauguration-weekend party at the British Embassy — called into her ABC morning show this morning with an update on her condition. “What happened was that I had a temperature and had chicken pox and didn’t know it,” Walters said. “So when I was in Washington for inauguration weekend, I fainted

I know this is kind of master of the obvious stuff, and I don´t wish ill of Ms. Walters, but wouldn´t a concussion with actual results leave here MORE qualified to be on The View?

more than likley she really has Shingles.

She could do a great service by calling attention to it and awareness of the vaccine available.
Most people are uneducated toward Shingles.

I can´t think of a reason she would hide this. Same virus as the chicken pox but it would be rare indeed for her to have the pox instead of Shingles.

Own it girl.

If indeed she does have chicken pox and a concussion, I feel for her. I don´t like her, but I don´t wish bad things for her. And either of those conditions are not handled well by the elderly body...she´s 83, and even though she doesn´t look it, it´ll take her longer to recover then it would us younger folks.

#19, the story in the New York Post is that she went to some social event a while back, spent time with someone who had shingles, and never having had chicken pox, contracted it from that person with shingles.

I asked a medical person if that is possible, and they said it is.

Here´s the problem. The story told (just like Hillary´s) may or may not have a shred of truth. A TIA or say, some sort of stroke is connected in folks´ minds to "elderly." BW needs to retire, that´s fairly obvious. She appears ancient and acts like it. Everyone is covering for her. There is no telling what part of the story is true.

I had chicken pox as a young adult. It does happen, though it´s rare. I was very ill, ran a fever almost 105 and it took weeks to fully recover. If she has that, I feel for her. Someone at her age would likely be a lot more ill than a 23 year old. I wouldn´t be surprised if news of her retirement follows shortly.

Isn´t having a brain a requirement in order to suffer a concussion? Baba Bow Wow has been demonstrating for years that she doesn´t have a brain so this must be a misdiagnosis by the doctors. Let´s hope this signals the end of her trashing up the airwaves.

The Central Park Conservancy, the nonprofit organization that manages the city’s most famous greenspace, is coming out against a proposal backed by Mayor de Blasio to replace the horse-drawn carriages with replica old-time cars. Doug Blonsky, the conservancy’s president & CEO, told the Daily News that introducing the electric vehicles to the park would be a bad idea. “Forty million people visit Central Park each year, including runners, bicyclists, kids and dog owners,” Blonsky said Wednesday. “Adding vehicles to the mix will make the

BISMARCK, N.D. — A federal judge on Wednesday overturned a North Dakota law that bans abortions when a fetal heartbeat can be detected, which can be as early as six weeks into pregnancy and before many women know they’re pregnant. U.S. District Judge Daniel Hovland said the law is “invalid and unconstitutional” and that it “cannot withstand a constitutional challenge.” The state attorney general said he was looking at whether to appeal the decision by the Bismarck-based judge. North Dakota is among several conservative states that have passed new abortion restrictions in recent years, but abortion rights supporters called

Charlie Rose offered a puff piece on Alyssa Mastromonaco, Obama´s deputy chief of staff. The CBS This Morning co-anchor on Thursday offered no tough questions and instead repeatedly underlined just how important she is. Rose marveled, "You know what somebody called you? Scary powerful." The co-host narrated, "We recently spoke to her about her low profile, high power role. Every time I read a piece about you, it talks about power."

When it comes to tracking the cost of Obama family vacations, there are two primary challenges. First, the Obamas are prolific jet-setters, so there are many details to track. Second, the Obama administration, clearly embarrassed by these lavish and frequent family vacations, stonewalls the release of records at every turn. People love that Scottish brogue so much, they don’t mind that he has it when he plays Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez, an immortal Spaniard in Highlander.
