Outgoing Defense Secretary Leon Panetta reportedly believes the military should receive a pay cut in order to respond to the budget cuts facing the Pentagon — a position that might strengthen the Republican push to reverse President Obama’s executive order raising the salary of Vice President Joe Biden and other federal officials. “Panetta will recommend to Congress that military salaries be limited to a one percent increase in 2014,” CNN reports, explaining that Panetta is “effectively decreasing troop salaries next year . . . The decision comes as the secretary is stepping up the rhetoric about dire cuts at the Pentagon if sequestration goes into effect.”

The Military´s pay (an all of our pay) ha already been cut, whilst the leeches in D.C. live like royalty. Everything we own is worth less and everything we need to live costs much more, so (in essence) everyone´s pay has been cut. But, those in DC take care of themselves first, of course.

Actually, the bigger issue is not Panetta proposing to cut military pay, but in the fact that Obama has apparently increased the pay for federal workers, INLUDING THE VICE PRESIDENT, by Executive Order.
Increases to the compensation of the President and Vice President are the sole responsibility of Congress. This is a clear usurpation of power.

When you compare what we pay members of our military - to that of your local police person - it´s a pittance.
Members of our armed services can barely put food on their tables, nevermind keep the lights on.
Cut EVERY elected officials pay, along with Federal govt employees - first.
Beginning with Obama.

STOP welfare right now..they do nothing for what they get.

Why not? They´re doing away with breakfast for our fighting forces overseas. It is obvious that if it wasn´t for donations from the people, our returning injured vets would not be receiving all the care they should get. I love the charities that take care of wounded vets, and gives college scholarships to children of our vets who were killed. American people are wonderful, kind and generous and that is the first and foremost reason I stayed in this country.

The lawmaker leading the charge to investigate the Benghazi terror attack on Friday subpoenaed the co-author of a report that slammed the State Department but didn´t interview Hillary Clinton. House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) formally demanded that retired ambassador Thomas Pickering submit to being deposed by the committee next Thursday. The subpoena comes in the wake of a series of acrimonious public exchanges this week between the two men. Issa didn´t issue a subpoena to former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Michael Mullen, who co-authored the Benghazi report with Pickering.
