Sotomayor says she’s no
Democrat, eager to show
her independence on court

Washington Times, by Jessica Chasmar

Original Article

Sonia Sotomayor appeared on “The Colbert Report” Monday night to talk about her new memoir, “My Beloved World,” but she stumbled upon an interesting confession in the process: She claims to be an independent. Citing her history, Comedy Central funnyman Stephen Colbert asked the Supreme Court justice, “Why aren’t you a Republican if you believe in self-reliance?” “How do you know I’m not?” Justice Sotomayor responded. “Because Obama appointed you,” the host shot back, gaining laughter

Bull. She´s independent because the Dems are too right wing for her.

If it walks like a duck, talks like a duck, looks like a duck ... it´s a Democrat "Wise Latina" Supreme Court Justice.

She´s a libtard who has decided to call herself ´not-a-democrat´.

All demonrats are socialists - - but not all socialists are demonrats.

So, yes - - she has credibility.

Colbert had it right, Barack Obama has not and will never appoint someone to an administration office unless that person has stellar liberal credentials. Even Hagel votes left of center most of the time.

Bingo..."enemy of the constitution"

She is all LaRaza...so a socialist or a communist...intent on disabling America and her constitution...with diversity punishments...God help us...the LoVo´s gave us a Manchurian with Obama

I saw her appearance and it was so scripted (on her part) and rehearsed she sounded like a robot. I believe NOTHING liberals say, so it makes more sense for her to say she´s NOT a dimocrat, since lying is what they do.

She´s a liar. Ergo she´s a ´RAT.

She is a Latina. Enough said!

Don´t agree with any of the above. What Sotomayor says of herself is just how she always looked to me - serenely independent. I don´t think Obama understood her. I think he goes by stereotypes, especially where women are concerned.

Reply 14 - Posted by: dvc, 2/5/2013 11:47:02 PM     (No. 9160887)

Wouldn´t it funny if she actually did believe in the Constitution?

I am supremely skeptical, and like that butthead Colbert, I think that the fact that Zero appointed her is nearly ironclad proof that she will be a reliable, intellectually dishonest, leftist.

But, wouldn´t it be hilarious if she actually does secretly believe that the Constitution means what it says?

Not impossible, just very highly improbable. OTOH, Zero IS delusional and not particularly bright.

Reply 15 - Posted by: steveW, 2/6/2013 2:03:30 AM     (No. 9160947)

Actually, none of the Democrats are Democrats, since they all think independently and don´t base their pro-socialist policies on a destructively neurotic anti-Americanism and the emotional immaturity of pre-adolescents. They all just want to help people and are so concerned about stuff, like helping people!

And the sky is green. Sotomayor isn´t very good at pretending, apparently.

Reply 16 - Posted by: 4Justice, 2/6/2013 2:47:55 AM     (No. 9160963)

No, seriously...I always thought she was a bit of an independent because, even though she leans somewhat far left on certain issues, she has not been as hard left and robot-like in agreement with the party line as I expected. I don´t think she is a Republican by any means...but she might not be a Dem either. She has not always voted or had an opinion that was lock-step with the left. I always thought there was a little hope for her.

Why in the wide world of sports is a Supreme Court justice appearing on television to push a book, especially a joke show such as “The Colbert Report?”

If Saddlebags believes in the constitution, then how come she voted that BarryCare was constitutional?

Reply 19 - Posted by: Spidey, 2/6/2013 5:39:39 AM     (No. 9161018)

What she´ll do is cast meaningless votes which favor the right once in a while to prove her independence but when it comes down to a hardcore liberal issue, she´ll fall in line.I´d actually like to see her be independent but it just won´t happen.

But kagan is the bigger joke by a long stretch.Kagan called Obama her hero after he won the Chicago senate seat. That should have disqualified her from the court.

The latest reporting in the matter of Fox News Channel’s James Rosen indicates the Obama administration fought to keep the search warrant for Rosen’s private email account secret, arguing that the government might need to monitor the account for a lengthy period of time. Thank you, Ryan Lizza. And one more thing. Despite Eric Holder’s his protestations of ignorance regarding the Rosen matter, NBC reports that Holder himself authorized the warrant application. Hmmm. Does that mean he might not have been entirely forthcoming about the matter in his testimony

WASHINGTON — Haynes Johnson, a pioneering Washington journalist who won a Pulitzer Prize for his coverage of the civil rights movement and migrated from newspapers to television, books and teaching, died Friday. He was 81. The Washington Post reported he died at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Md. In a statement to the Post newsroom, Managing Editor Kevin Merida said Johnson died of a heart attack. Johnson was awarded a Pulitzer in 1966 for national reporting on the civil rights struggle in Selma, Ala., while with The Evening Star in Washington. He spent

The FBI has arrested a San Antonio man on charges he lied to get into the United States and tried to get a sensitive Defense Department position. Wissam Allouche, 44, appeared for an initial hearing Friday afternoon, and shook his head when U.S. Magistrate Judge Henry Bemporad read the charges leveled in a federal indictment. The judge ordered him held pending a bail hearing and his arraignment Tuesday. “He allegedly tried to cover up his affiliation with Hezbollah,” said special agent Erik Vasys, spokesman for the FBI in San Antonio. “It is believed

A FREE press in a democracy demands a delicate balance. The First Amendment means the media must have the right to inquire without hindrance. The government has a legitimate interest in keeping some national security information secret. When these come into conflict, the balance often has been struck this way: The media are free to pursue secrets, but it is up to those in government to keep them. When the media come into possession of information that, if disclosed, could be damaging, the government can plead the case for secrecy — and the media generally are open to persuasion.

The brutal murder of an off-duty soldier by two Muslim activists continues to dominate the news in Great Britain. The scene was utterly bizarre: in broad daylight, in a busy section of London, the two Muslims apparently ran the soldier down with a car, within a block or two of his barracks, and then attacked him with knives and a meat cleaver. They attempted to behead him, apparently not quite successfully, as hundreds of passers-by looked on. No one stopped them–private ownership of firearms being illegal in the U.K.–but three random women

A day after insurers complained that Kathleen Sebelius and the Obama administration had pressured them to fund Enroll America, a House committee sent them a request for more information on the matter. The Energy and Commerce Committee had already begun looking into whether Sebelius had broken any laws by attempting to get donations from an industry that will be heavily regulated by her under ObamaCare, and now The Hill reports this new request as a widening of that probe (via Rare): House Republicans have widened their probe of Health and Human Services

President Obama delivered an address today at the National Defense University called “The Future of our Fight Against Terrorism.” Actually, part of the speech was about the past, including much self-congratulation and some shots at President Bush. This part of the speech is revisionist rubbish. As Max Boot explains: Obama said, for example, that after he came into office, “we unequivocally banned torture, affirmed our commitment to civilian courts, worked to align our policies with the rule of law, and expanded our consultations with Congress.” Umm, actually all of that happened in Bush’s second term.

Conservative radio host Mark Levin is very skeptical of the idea that President Obama had absolutely no idea about the IRS tea party targeting before the story broke in the news mere weeks ago. Levin declared adamantly that it is a “flat-out, bald-faced lie” that Obama didn’t know beforehand, citing prior reports by a few conservative news outlets picking up on the news well before the 2012 presidential election. Levin said, “I don’t believe for two seconds that Obama wasn’t aware of this.”

President Obama on Thursday nominated Victoria Nuland, a State Department official involved in the editing of the administration´s talking points on Benghazi, to be the next assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs. Nuland, a career foreign service officer who was until recently State´s top spokesperson, had long been expected to be nominated the post to replace Philip Gordon, who Obama picked to serve as Middle East coordinator for the National Security Council. Nuland´s nomination -- which requires Senate confirmation -- could come under scrutiny from Republicans who see her as playing a central role in shaping

Anthony Weiner’s New York mayoral candidacy was only made more improbable today after he revealed that he visited a Houston psychiatric facility following his resignation from Congress in 2011. Haunted by scandal surrounding his sexually explicit online communications with women, the Democratic former congressman sought treatment for his compulsive behavior from mental health professionals at the Gabbard Center. According to its website, the facility provides “3-day outpatient psychiatric evaluation,” particularly to “professionals who are in personal or professional crises.” While Weiner did not disclose

Why didn´t Chairman Camp, all Republicans, hold an investigative hearing a year ago, and all the other tripping over themselves right now? I´ll tell you why. Because the establishment Republicans, the RINO Republicans, despise the Tea Party. They despise the conservative movement. We exist to be managed, to be shuttled to the polling place, to vote for their candidates. The Karl Roves of the world, and all the rest of them. They fight us in the primaries, they fight us at the grassroots.

WASHINGTON —In a dramatic departure from existing White House procedures, President Obama requested today that his staff start cc’ing him on stuff. “Look, I know a lot of you think I’m really busy and you don’t want to bother me,” the President reportedly told his staff in an Oval Office meeting. “But cc me anyway. It’s good for me to keep up on what’s going on around here.” “It’s not good when I turn on the news and they’re talking about something at the White House and I’m like, whoa, when did that happen?”
