| WASHINGTON—House Republicans will pursue legislation aimed at overhauling immigration and federal education policy, streamlining student-aid funding and making it easier for highly educated foreigners trained at U.S. colleges to stay in the country, Majority Leader Eric Cantor said Tuesday. The Virginia Republican, in a lunchtime speech to the conservative American Enterprise Institute, urged fellow Republican lawmakers to embrace policies aimed at helping American families rather than focusing solely on the nation´s fiscal challenges. No, we are not just bashing anyone. What we object to are so-called "leaders" with horrible PR skills and another list of priorities. Solutions. We already know what the priorities should be. We want you to lay out bold, fresh solutions! The first sentence tells you all you need to know.

Anything but focusing on jobs. That will never come up any more. How is that? Now the GOP is onto things that Americans could provide for themselves, if they had jobs, but they don´t, so the GOP is going to make some deals with Reid and guarantee they will be challenged in the primaries and fired.

I have a close friend who lives in Cantor´s District. Last fall, before the election, I visited her and she told me that 90 percent of that district votes GOP. It sure was nice not seeing any campaign signs for the Won. Perhaps it gave me a false sense of hope.
Personally, I don´t care for Cantor. He seems fake to me, kind of like Algore. I don´t trust him either.

A federal court in San Francisco Tuesday struck down Arizona´s ban on abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the law violates a string of U.S. Supreme Court rulings starting with Roe v. Wade that guarantees a woman´s right to an abortion before a fetus is able to survive outside the womb. That´s generally considered to be about 24 weeks. Normal pregnancies run about 40 weeks. Several states have enacted similar bans starting at 20 weeks. But the 9th Circuit´s ruling is binding only in the nine Western states

South Side rapper Chief Keef was arrested at a hotel near Atlanta this week for disorderly conduct after hotel security smelled marijuana smoke coming his room, police said. The disorderly conduct arrest comes two months after he was released from custody in Chicago for a probation violation. Chief Keef, 17, was arrested Monday afternoon at the LeMeridan Hotel located at 111 Perimeter Center West in Dunwoody north of Atlanta,(Snip) The hotel security alerted police shortly before 3 p.m. about illegal drug activity at the hotel.

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew was told about a government watchdog´s investigation of the Internal Revenue Service in mid-March but did not learn the full extent of its findings until they were released earlier this month. Lew told the Senate Banking Committee on Tuesday that he first learned about the possible problems during a "getting to know you" meeting with the Treasury´s inspector general for tax administration, J. Russell George, on March 15. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”

One of the questions was whether he/she was concerned about unsecured weapons in the home.
