Obama to visit Israel in
spring for first time as president

Jerusalem Post, by Hilary Leila Krieger

US President Barack Obama is scheduled to visit Israel this spring, the White House confirmed Tuesday evening, which would mark his first trip the country since he assumed the White House in 2009. “The start of the President’s second term and the formation of a new Israeli government offer the opportunity to reaffirm the deep and enduring bonds between the United States and Israel and to discuss the way forward on a broad range of issues of mutual concern,” said White House spokesman Tommy Vietor. He pointed to Iran and Syria but did not mention the Palestinians.

Check his passport.
Russia had a problem with it during his visit in 2005.

Trip is surely timed to the kids´ spring break. Mooch, mother-in-law and one or both daughters will visit Israel and possibly Turkey. May be too "Arab Springy" for Egypt, but security costs aren´t a concern to Pharoh O.

Trip will prove to be as much a failure as Obama´s 2009 speech at Cairo University, where women, Christians and Jews still are not welcomed

Does anybody really care......He is not my President ....And never will be...

I´m sure it will be very convenient for him but for all of us over in Israel trying to get ready for Passover, it will be a miserable inconvenience, mucking with traffic (when George Bush visited, it was so bad people stayed home from work and school) and freedom of movement. Might not be so bad if he would just fly into Ben Gurion, have his discussion with Bibi and leave. That´s besides any damage he does from trying to pressure Israel into more concessions for the PA to pocket in his idiotic quest for a return to the negotiating table. You know who´s happy about this visit. Tzipi Livni. That already tells you what a rotten idea it is.

#5, I´m afraid this is going to be more than just a little trip...expect Air Force One full of Dims in Congress, his transport planes, as well as Kerry and Hagel bringing in their own US govt planes and an aircraft carrier group coincidentally transiting the Red and Med seas.....it´s just prior to Passover, so also expect several charters for the media and big $ donors...

Will the Mooch and every family friend be tagging along too?

Why does he need to go over so early ? The temple has not been built yet.

I recommend that he be required to enter through a rear entrance, since he is so fond of leading with (Or is it ´from?´) his rear. In fact, I recommend that he be photographed exclusively from the rear, his best, side. It is my opinion that the utterances from his backside are short, clear, trustworthy, to the point, and do not require a Teleprompter. These qualities are in sharp contrast to releases from his mouth.

A mother and daughter dubbed the ´Angels of Woolwich´ because they bravely risked their own lives by comforting a soldier left dying in the street stepped forward ´because no man should die alone´. (Snip) He said: ´My mother was just driving past and she saw something and wanted to try and help. ´She just showed a bit of motherly love. She just did what any mother would have done. ´She felt that could have been me lying down there in the street. She just felt for the poor guy. ´No man should have to die like that in the street

Senators may confirm Penny Pritzker next month to lead the Commerce Department, a top Senate Republican said after a drama-free hearing Thursday. Commerce Committee senators on both sides of the aisle largely shied away from the controversies surrounding the family of Chicago billionaire and Hyatt Hotel heiress Pritzker, despite GOP criticism centering on the use of subprime lending practices and offshore bank accounts. (Snip) The hearing was surprisingly cordial with questions ranging from cybersecurity to the National Weather Service to creating manufacturing jobs to fisheries. Only three questions, two from Thune, related to Pritzker’s family.

Raymond Maxwel --one of the four State Department officials disciplined over security lapses that led to the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, last year -- is also a prolific poet. And he´s been publishing provocative verses since he was put on administrative leave December 18. Some of the poetry represents scathing commentary on the post-Benghazi fallout and implies that he feels like he´s been made a scapegoat. In "Trapped in a purgatory of their own deceit," Maxwell writes in part: "The web of lies they weave / gets tighter and tighter / in its deceit

Whatever else happens as a result of the multiple controversies that have engulfed the administration, one thing is clear: President Obama has failed to meet one of the most important goals he set out when he was first elected, which was to demonstrate that activist government could also be smart government. (Snip) As he put it then: “I think what you saw in this election was people saying, ‘Yes, we don’t want some big, bureaucratic, ever-expanding state. On the other hand, we don’t want a state that’s dysfunctional, that doesn’t believe in its mission, that can’t carry out

Washington – Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-MO, issued a video statement Friday in response to reports that the Internal Revenue Service unfairly targeted conservative nonprofit groups. We apply the law equally.” “We should not only fire the head of the IRS, which has occurred, but we’ve got to go down the line and find every single person who had anything to do with this and make sure

Richmond, Va.—Virginia´s activist conservative attorney general has won the Republican Party´s gubernatorial nomination by acclamation. At the GOP´s statewide convention, thousands of conservatives and tea party followers who dominated the Richmond Coliseum on Saturday roared their unanimous support for Ken Cuccinelli. He was unopposed for the nomination and is generally beloved by the tea party for his aggressive challenges to federal mandates. Cuccinelli is an abortion foe who was the first state attorney general to challenge President Barack Obama´s health care reforms in 2010. He faces former Democratic National Committee chairman and Clinton family protege Terry McAuliffe

Legions of Wimbledon fans may find it hard to credit in the man who once defined bad behaviour on the tennis court, but Jimmy Connors says he ‘turned on the charm’ the first time he chatted up Chris Evert.(Snip)Although she has since bitterly regretted giving up on a ‘good, solid marriage’, what some have described as her mid-life crisis struck in 2006 when she divorced Mill after 18 years. The Evert pendulum had swung back again towards an assertive Alpha Male: she had fallen in love with Australian world golfing champion Greg Norman. He was Mill’s best friend

When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

Conservative radio host Mark Levin is very skeptical of the idea that President Obama had absolutely no idea about the IRS tea party targeting before the story broke in the news mere weeks ago. Levin declared adamantly that it is a “flat-out, bald-faced lie” that Obama didn’t know beforehand, citing prior reports by a few conservative news outlets picking up on the news well before the 2012 presidential election. Levin said, “I don’t believe for two seconds that Obama wasn’t aware of this.”

President Obama on Thursday nominated Victoria Nuland, a State Department official involved in the editing of the administration´s talking points on Benghazi, to be the next assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs. Nuland, a career foreign service officer who was until recently State´s top spokesperson, had long been expected to be nominated the post to replace Philip Gordon, who Obama picked to serve as Middle East coordinator for the National Security Council. Nuland´s nomination -- which requires Senate confirmation -- could come under scrutiny from Republicans who see her as playing a central role in shaping

What´s so interesting about 60 tea partiers protesting the IRS in San Jose, California on Tuesday, May 21st? The fact that this bit of information was conveyed to the protesters by a Department of Homeland Security officer who was also in attendance. What was a DHS agent doing at the San Jose Tea Party protest? Anthony Weiner’s New York mayoral candidacy was only made more improbable today after he revealed that he visited a Houston psychiatric facility following his resignation from Congress in 2011. Haunted by scandal surrounding his sexually explicit online communications with women, the Democratic former congressman sought treatment for his compulsive behavior from mental health professionals at the Gabbard Center. According to its website, the facility provides “3-day outpatient psychiatric evaluation,” particularly to “professionals who are in personal or professional crises.” While Weiner did not disclose

On “Fox News Sunday” last weekend, White House aide Dan Pfeiffer was asked about President Barack Obama’s whereabouts the night of the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi. This was the night when we lost our first ambassador in 30 years, and when three other Americans were killed in an attack that lasted all night long at multiple locations within the eastern Libyan city. Since the president is commander in chief, one would think where he was and what he did during such an event would be of obvious public concern.
