| Gas prices have been on the rise for weeks, and they’re set to spike in the months ahead. Does this sound at all familiar? Thus far in 2013, drivers have been paying less for gas, on average, than they were a year ago. During the first week of January, for instance, the national average was $3.30 per gallon, or 7¢ less than it was 12 months beforehand. But prices are rising, and the difference between current prices and 2012 counterparts is shrinking. Lately, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report, the average gallon costs $3.42 nationally

Spot on Dog - most of the media in the country is now apparently in ´cheerleader´ territory than any actual examination of ´news´.
The notion that people ´don´t care´ about gas prices is absolutely ludicrous.
What´s far more evident to those paying attention - is how determined this administration is to *prevent* US citizens access to affordable energy. Let´s not forget Obama had a guy named Chu hanging around advocating for ´European gas prices´, saying we needed to pay 9 bucks a gallon for our ´sins´.
Never a dull moment. The sanctimony and ´manufactured consent´ of what *used* to pass for intelligent media in this country has long passed ´shark jumping´ status.
Pravda at this point is a more reliable source for US news...

Let´s see. My husband is unemployed, I haven´t had a raise in three years, I lost my health insurance because my premiums were doubled so of course I am happy that gas is more expensive. Why wouldn´t I be. Happy days are here again. Higher prices will make everything go up even more. Goodie, can´t wait.

It´s because the media hasn´t whipped the low information voters up into a frenzy over oil prices!
It doesn´t take much to see what is happening out there... People don´t care about the homeless, the unemployed, inflation, etc... Nothing.
They only care about BO, gay marriage and taking guns away from legal owners.

I care, even if the MSM media doesn´t (though they would if a republican was in the WH).
Funny this should be posted now. The home heating oil delivery truck just left, leaving a bill for $765.00--170 gallons @$4.50 per gallon.
And it´s 18 degrees outside, so that heating oil will probably go fast.

Has anyone noticed that all the homeless people have disappeared? As soon as we elect a Republican President, they will be back in the news. I MOST certainly care about rising gas prices too. I think Brad needs to go out and find the news, instead of making up news.

What´s really amazing is that gas in November was a little more than double what it was in 2008 and the Stupids in this country still re-elect the Obamboozler! Over the weekend I saw a big white SUV with "I´m NOT a Republican", "Obama/Biden", "I Love Obamacare". "Sherrod Brown" and "Dennis Kucinich" stickers plastered all over the back of the car. I thought to myself "Holly cow! That car´s got rectum written all over it! It´s gotta be a dumbed-down, barely aware, dope-smoking, self-absorbed, media-influenced, celebrity-obsessed, Food-Stamp wielding, Escalade driving, Kool-Aid drinking, government-dependent, entitlement rich, busted-butt, free-loading, Obamaphone carrying, Low-Fo Federal teat-sucker!

He´s missing the real reason.
Back in the late 60´s (when gas was "cheap"), I remember my Dad paying about 30 cents/gallon for gas. That´s about $1.50 in today´s dollars.
But his land yacht got about 16MPG on the highway and 12 in the city (say 14MPG average).
Today, a Nissan Altima (not a hybrid) gets 38 on the highway and 27 in the city (say 32 MPG average).
So you take that $1.50 and more than double it to get from 14MPG to 32 MPG.
So Dad was effectively paying $3.25 per gallon in 1969, which is not much less than the cost of gas today (if you drive an Altima or similar car).
So

# 16: The homeless people have not disappeared. I thought that they had, also, because we have had no media reports on this since Bush left the White House. But, last month I was in Washington, DC, and discovered about a dozen of them camped out in the McPherson Square metro station--about 2 blocks from the White House. But, no media person seems to notice.
Reminds me of the recent election, where no one mentioned that the price of gasoline was %1.85 per gallon when Obama entered the White House, and it was doubled over his four years. Only conservatives seem to notice. Certainly not the media.

Let me remind you ~ the only ones who care about the price of gas are the ones with the cars who drive to work. The other 52% get paid to stay home (unemployment compensation, welfare, etc. etc.) or if they do go out, they use the public transportation which is supported on the backs of the ones who care about the price of gas.

A lot of this perception is media driven, but what choice do we have? Those who still have jobs have to drive to work, regardless of the price.
For a long time, we would near the tipping point price of $3.00 a gallon, and retreat. After a while of being conditioned, we finally went over $3.00, and now we are going to be flirting with $4.00.
Where is the outrage at having adequate supplies and the price per barrel being lower because of a good supply.
Economics 101 teaches that things that are scarce and in short supply command higher prices, and so whatever conceived non-crises are allowed to affect this?
If it weren´t for our friends Canada and Mexico, we would be up a creek!

There´s been a lot of discussion lately about what Detroit needs. Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder appointed Kevyn Orr emergency manager over Motown several months ago. If Orr can´t get the books in order in the next six weeks, the city faces possible bankruptcy, reports Reuters. Why is the once-glorious birthplace of the automobile in so much trouble? On Monday, May 27, PBS Independent Lens airs an important film, "Detropia," that explores the crisis in Detroit. Here are some issues presented in the documentary. "Detropia," a Loki Films project, is not just a film drive-by of Detroit ruins.

Hillary Clinton for president in 2016? Husband Bill says, "Relax." Let his wife enjoy a bit of a private life for the first time in two decades. But as far as the pollsters are concerned, the 2016 race is underway. And Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul is certainly acting like he´s in the race. The latest poll out of Iowa has former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton beating Florida Sen. Marco Rubio handily (48 vs. 37 percent), but could face a tougher race against Senator Paul (46 vs. 42 percent), according to a new poll by Quinnipiac University.

KABUL, Afghanistan -- Taliban gunmen launched a coordinated attack on an international aid group’s guesthouse in an upscale Kabul neighborhood Friday, setting off a furious firefight that lasted several hours and renewing fears of the insurgents’ ability to strike virtually at will in the heart of the capital. The late-afternoon attack took place in Kabul’s Shar-e-Naw district, home to numerous heavily fortified compounds housing international aid groups and Afghan governmental and security entities. The assault began with a powerful car bomb detonated at the gates of the guesthouse used by workers for the International Organization for Migration

A Bronx teacher fired after a student complained about her use of a racial slur says the whole thing is just a ridiculous case of meaning lost -- literally -- in translation. Petrona Smith, 65, was a non-tenured teacher at the bilingual school PS 211 until March 2012, when she was fired after a student complained of being called "negro" and "a failure." But Smith, who is black and a native of the West Indies, said the student misunderstood her meaning: she was using the word "negro," the word for the color black in Spanish

The murder of a soldier in south London on Wednesday has prompted fears of a backlash against British Muslims after the English Defence League staged an impromptu rally in the capital and two mosques were attacked. The BNP leader, Nick Griffin, has also reacted to the killing with provocative tweets calling for a protest in Woolwich and claiming the crime is the result of "mass immigration". Farooq Murad of the Muslim Council of Britain said the EDL´s rally in London on Wednesday night was cause for concern. "When attacks like these happen there´s always the danger of far-right extremism

Washington rumor has it that Obama wants to be U.N. Secretary General. There are several reasons that make that likely, and if it´s true, it throws new light on a lot of Obama´s oddities -- including his Royalty Bows, his Apology Tours, his Muslim Sellout, and the Benghazi Cover-Up. But first -- why would Obama be planning to become the chief of the U.N. before he has even finished his second term?

On Wednesday, Drummer Lee Rigby of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, a man who had served Queen and country honorably in the hell of Helmand Province in Afghanistan, emerged from his barracks on Wellington Street, named after the Duke thereof, in southeast London. Minutes later, he was hacked to death in broad daylight and in full view of onlookers by two men with machetes who crowed "Allahu Akbar!" as they dumped his carcass in the middle of the street like so much roadkill. As grotesque as this act of savagery was, the aftermath was even more unsettling

Why didn´t Chairman Camp, all Republicans, hold an investigative hearing a year ago, and all the other tripping over themselves right now? I´ll tell you why. Because the establishment Republicans, the RINO Republicans, despise the Tea Party. They despise the conservative movement. We exist to be managed, to be shuttled to the polling place, to vote for their candidates. The Karl Roves of the world, and all the rest of them. Abuse Of Power: Any scandal investigation that expects a "Eureka!" moment, a White House e-mail, or Oval Office smoking gun will be misguided. In fact, the dots are already connected directly to the president. Barack Obama is not foolish enough to have a tape recording system hidden in his desk. And his administration staff are not careless enough to send one another incriminating e-mails. If the president was behind the IRS unlawfully harassing conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status, we can be sure the communications were all sotto voce and in persona, like any good Chicago political operator.

A Washington state Democrat is accusing Republicans of “throwing American infrastructure … under the bus” after a bridge collapse there this week. The portion of Interstate 5 in Washington that runs over the Skagit River collapsed on Thursday after a truck hit an overhead support structure, but Rep. Jim McDermott (D-Wash.) cited the incident in an interview as proof Republicans were blocking infrastructure investment to hurt President Obama politically. “Well, they have clearly spent the whole last five years trying to tear the president down, but they have done it by throwing the American infrastructure and
