CBS´s coverage of what turned out to be a very exciting football game was the worst imaginable.

My wife and I heard it when he said it. What did they expect when they´re following around a bunch of men who just won the Super Bowl? That´s what the 7 second delay is for.

Probably learned the word from his girlfriend.

Compared to the endless performance of the slut, this was a moment unscripted and understandable.

It´s the way men (and some women) talk in many environments...the problem is cameras and mikes in everyone´s face--whether its football, golf or the battle field--and then the expectation that the environment meets with someone´s definition of political correctness...

I´m with #5. This is a complete waste of bandwidth, and I just made it worse.

1. Well, it was about 95% empty, pointless "spectacle" and a few percent football. Too bad.

2. W-a-a-y-y-y too much "Lookit me!" thug preening going on, not just in this game, but all across the NFL. But -- the NBA is even worse [don´t watch, but get exposed to occasional clips looking fruitlessly for something on Sportscenter, etc.]. Uhhh, guys? If you´re down 21 points, and you manage to make a catch or a tackle or a sack, pretend to be an adult with some perspective. Because guess what? There have been 50,000 other catches in the NFL. 5,000 sacks. Oh, and you´re still down 21, you moron. And the scoreboard number matters more than the name on the back of your jersey. ´K? And as a college coach once said, "Act like you´ve been there before."

[Wish Coach Lombardi had been cloned, and the clones turned loose on these less-than-no-class jerks.]

3. Tip for play-by-play guys and "color" guys especially: there´s something much worse than dead air, and it´s deadening air. Yes, Phil, Yes, Troy, he went off right tackle to the 32 yard line. We all just saw it on our 46-inch Hi-Def TVs, and your partner just told us what we saw as we saw it. Shut up! And go learn some basic English.

Hey, I worked in an office culture where that word was part of almost EVERY sentence spoken by some supervisors. Who is kidding who here ?
´F´ and the "D" word ( DARN ) are now interchangeable and the first is used 100 times more than the second in everyday life.

No need to be rude, #5. BTW, who hasn´t heard, or even contributed to, discourse of that nature?

It might be commomplace in every day life but that doesn´t mean that everyone likes to hear it. It wasn´t too many years ago that manners existed. Today though, if men and women alike aren´t down to that level, they are the odd ones.
I was raised in a housefull of boys and never once did I hear that kind of language. Our mother would have washed their mouth out with lye soap. My dad did swear sometimes but never the way they talk today.

Relativism - "everyone does it", "we hear it everywhere", "we probably do it" - seems antithetical on this site, where I have always thought self-control and decency were admired and encouraged.

OP was entitled to her opinion. A courteous disagreement would have sufficed. A blanket slam of her posting was unwarranted.

The error of thinking something that´s commonplace or acceptable in one circumstance makes it acceptable in all places is exposed when suggesting that a useful material like... "fertilizer" be spread on our Thanksgiving tables.

I don´t use that kind of language and I don´t want it in my home. However, I presume the young man in question cleans up his language in polite society, and I will not pretend I´m shocked to hear the word in venues where it has become acceptable.

The article asks "Why is this news?" Some people seem to think it is not. Whatever it it, it found its way to the Drudge Report.

For me, there are two essential questions about what happened, neither of which we know the answer to:

1. Did he know his comments would be broadcast; and/or

2. Did the CBS censor -assuming there is one- deliberately allow this remark to get through?

It´s understandable to disagree with the poster, but why attack her? She´s expressing a conservative viewpoint, after all. I agree with No. 12-14.

I heard it, but it was barely audible and was Flacco talking to his teammate. It would have been nice if he hadn´t used the word; it would have been nice if the word had been bleeped, but to me it would have been nicer if the youngsters in the audience hadn´t seen the interminable line of dancing dominating mock-prostitutes.

He was the quarterback for the winning team, on his way to be given the MVP award. The likelihood that there would be a camera with sound nearby was in the very high 90th percentile.

With greatness comes responsibility.
