Chris Wallace Skewers NRA’s Wayne
LaPierre On Gun Violence: ‘That’s
Ridiculous And You Know It, Sir’

Mediaite, by Meenal Vamburkar

Original Article

On Fox News Sunday, following the segment featuring Mark Kelly, Chris Wallace interviewed National Rifle Association CEO Wayne LaPierre about various issues surrounding gun control — ranging from background checks to mental health concerns to armed security at schools. Pressing LaPierre on his arguments, Wallace challenged him on some of his opposition to gun control. Wallace began with background checks, citing the 1.7 million people who’ve been denied because of the checks — but LaPierre argued that most of those people weren’t prosecuted, and we can’t say they “were stopped from getting a gun at all.”

Comments:
What is ridiculous is Wallace completely missed the point that all children should be treated equally. 0bama isn´t King. Isn´t it a shame Democrats don´t receive the same forceful grilling.

CW doesn´t have enough intelligence to "skewer" a cocktail weiner. Or maybe he is a cocktail weiner.

Someone needs to ask these insane people why it is OK to consider giving amnesty to millions of non-citizens breaking our laws, and OK to punish law abiding citizens because of a few nuts?

Should we measure the Dems against just a few of their nut jobs?

Maybe now Wallace will have a chance to get Obama on his TV show.

There has to be a background inquiry of all gun purchasers that has more of a chance to keep dangerous crazy people from purchasing guns that is more effective then we have today. But the NRA man also has a point, because it appears that most of the dangerous crazy people who have committed these mass shootings did not even have to buy the guns that they used, especially if they had criminal records, they either stole them, or the guns were purchased for them by straw purchasers.

The answer is not banning certain modern classes of firearms that would take rights away from law abiding citizens because of the insane criminal actions of a very few dangerous crazy people.

I cannot find the source of the 1.7 million number and Chris Wallace was notably incurious. When John Lott looked at one year (2009) of Brady law INITIAL background checks he found that over 94% were in error.

Wallace was a sympathetic friend to Mark Kelly and then turned into Wallace the Prosecutor for Wayne LaPierre.

Does Chris realize that the people of Newtown voted to have police officers at all their schools?

Are they ridiculous? After all, they´re not as important as Obama´s children.....right???

Stopped watching FNC about a year ago. Haven´t missed it yet.

I´m OK with Wallace´s point and questionning. Since when is it taboo to question someone we may generally agree with such as LaPierre. I generally agree with many of his positions and statements, but I´m OK with Wallace pointing out that the President´s children are quite different from children in the general population. They are much more in danger generally, because of their relationship to a person in power.

We need to question our own spokespersons or persons who represent ideas and positions we generally agree with. It will sharpen their logic and arguments in the long run.

The left and the drive-by media won´t do it to their own. The left´s arguments are the weaker for it.

Chris Wallace finds the idea of an "elite" ridiculous because he thinks of himself as elite but doesn´t want anyone to think he is. Call him whatever you want, he´s the son of Mike Wallace, who was a world-class liberal flake.

Wallace was way off base on this. It´s a crazy thing that any child is denied the best security possible. It does not matter what kind of target level that child or any child is considered. they all should be as safe as possible. They are the most helpless, most defenseless members of our society and it is our God given duty to protect all of them. Wallace should offer an immediate apology!

Precisely why FNS is becoming unwatchable. Not once was the 2nd Amendment even brought up. Wallace was a zealot spouting Obama´s talking points.

Questioning is a good thing. Declaring his answers and position ´ridiculous´ and ´nonsense´ lets us know Chris Wallace´s personal opinions, and therefore we can declare him riciculous too.

As I watched Wallace veer off into the twilight zone as he said if we put armed guards in the schools, won´t the attackers just go hit the malls and movie theaters, I thought him the ridiculous one. it sounded like he believed children should be the target of choice as a protection for other venues. Armed protection in all those places seemed tobe not at all feasible to him.

LaPierre did not take that bait, and I found him the more reasonable person as Wallace rattled on.

Wallace sounded like a nutter!

To #7´s point...chrissy is a product of old fashisoned affirmative action, nepotism...why play into the feel good game of giving Kelly air time to begin with?

Among the first two people killed at Newtown were the counselor (read mini-shrink)who had been on staff for 18years, and her assistant...where was the security/police monitor? Wasn´t one there to protect the babies, but they had plenty of staff to make sure the babies "felt good" about whatever...even the mother who was in a meeting with the principal, counselor, etc, was there to deal with the feelings of an ELEMENTARY school kid....

Somethings wrong with that picture...

I like Wallace, but I was very disappointed with his rude remark to LaPierre. The point is: 0bama´s girls go to a school where they have several armed guards protecting all the children in this school. These guards have real guns and real bullets. On top of these armed guards, both girls have their own secret service detail to protect them individually. I agree with LaPierre of having armed guards in our schools. The left would like us to believe they can control who gets guns, which is impossible. So the rest of us should be able to send our children to a school with armed guards, just like 0bama´s girls get. Being protected by armed guards should not be just a privilege for 0bama and the Hollywood gang.

Chris Wallace is just like his father, little more than a left wing political hack who has attempted, usually, to hide his true beliefs so he can stay employed at FOX. Give it up, Chris, go over to one if the other alphabet outlets where you belong.

LaPierre also attempted to address the tragedy of hundreds of black children murdered with guns every year. With typical liberal racism, Wallace refused to acknowledge these tragedies are caused by failure to enforce current laws. What good will more laws do?

"Skewered" is a term that is too much in excess for the exchange. I was disturbed by Wallace´s repeated replies to LaPierre´s suggestion that the suggestion wouldn´t solve a new problem that he just thought up. "But it wouldn´t..." ran throughout the conversation as if a particular suggestion wouldn´t make all the problems go away, it should not be implemented. I guess that Wallace was trying to prove that LaPierre isn´t God because he can´t wave his hands an make all the problems go away at once. (I knew going in that LaPierre isn´t God.) LaPierre did offer some very practical and useful ideas, the most important of which was to enforce the laws we have on the books.

Wayne did not do a good job of explaining himself. The point of that ad is a good one. It referred to the fact that the school the Obama girls go to has eleven (11) armed guards. They were not referring to the secret service protection.

Leftists NEED for the world to be different.

They need it so badly that they cannot acknowledge how the world really is.

Those who bring the bad news about reality are seen as the bad guys.

Take ANY issue and the dynamic is the same.

That´s why they can snuff you out with a clear conscience....because if you are right then their whole world falls apart.

That´s why they are "Collective" in spirit and action. One person alone cannot support such a big lie.

I wanted to write Wallace after his despicable interview with LaPierre. Who makes a point that if we provide armed guards at schools the killers will go to malls and movie theaters to kill our children.
Unfortunately I could not find an e-mail address for the "elite" Wallace on Fox´s site, only a generic e-mail address for all of Fox, but I did call their comment line , but I don´t know if that will do any good.
With any luck Zucker at CNN will contact Wallace, Beckel and Williams to host programming on CNN. They can start up one program with the 3 of them called "Dumb, Dumber and Dumbest". Should be a hit.

We now know that there are no elites in this country, verified once and for all by a charter, born-into-it, member of that elite.

In my experience, folks that have lived in NYC for all their lives are really, REALLY disconnected from the reality of this country and most of the world. To me, one of the great unwashed in fly over country, NYC is like Disney World - entirely fake, with some interesting rides, but completely disconnected from reality and only digestible in small, short doses.

When the folks in NYC start lecturing about how the rest of us should live and act, I glaze over pretty quickly.
