| There are those who will dismiss Fox News personality Geraldo Rivera’s announcement that he is considering running for the U.S. Senate in New Jersey in 2014 as a Republican as just one more publicity stunt in a career replete with them. Rivera’s public record is mixed, as it has combined serious advocacy on a number of issues with the sort of foolish excess that has given a bad name to tabloid journalism. If people think of him more as a celebrity than a journalist, it is his own fault and not something that he has seemed to mind very much.

When Geraldo comes on, it´s a positive thing for me because it gives me the opportunity leave the room and do something productive. I defy anyone to produce a list of 10,000 random subjects and find anything on that list on which Rivera is not an expert.

I have a shameful secret about Rivera. I was watching him on Fox News during the first Iraqi election (Jan 30, 2005). There were two women who had been killed on their way to vote. Geraldo was talking about it and he was outraged (of course).
He seemed sincerely despondent (if that´s the word I want) about the incident, not crying or doing anything for show, just very, very sad. It was good professional, though heartfelt, reporting.
At that moment I liked him.

Geraldo considers himself a Republican and would run as such. Would probably have a shot in NJ. Whatever it takes to get a Senate majority is fine with me. Let´s face it, Republicans like Scott Brown, Chris Christie and Rudy Giuliani are the best that we can get out of the North East. They´re just part of the puzzle.

Perhaps when he enters the political arena, he will have to answer for all his actions that crossed the line. I look forward to hearing him explain his conduct and activiity in Oklahoma City at the Murrah Federal building site. The man is a self promoting sleaze with no moral character, principles, or value to this nation, therefore he would make the consummate politician.

He’s actually getting worse. This president will not admit that we are in a war, as President George W. Bush defined it, with various terrorist organizations and with countries that support them. In his overlong, rambling speech to the National Defense University on terrorism and national security, the president never even mentioned Iran, which happens to be our main enemy and the world’s leading sponsor of international terrorism. Not one word. You may well ask how it is possible for the president to talk about his counterterrorism “strategy” without addressing the main source of terrorism.

Attorney General Eric Holder personally signed off on the warrant naming Fox News journalist James Rosen a “possible co-conspirator” in violation of the Espionage Act, Michael Isikoff reported yesterday. Which is sort of awkward, because Barack Obama also yesterday told the country (the whole country) that he didn’t want to criminalize reporting, and that he was going to ask his Justice Department to make sure not to do that anymore. Rosen wasn’t charged. In truth, the government never really intended on charging him. Longoria, 38, took home a real degree (not an honorary one) in Chicano studies from Cal State Northridge, where she physically attended classes for three years, according to TMZ. "Big day today!!! Conservative radio host Mark Levin is very skeptical of the idea that President Obama had absolutely no idea about the IRS tea party targeting before the story broke in the news mere weeks ago. Levin declared adamantly that it is a “flat-out, bald-faced lie” that Obama didn’t know beforehand, citing prior reports by a few conservative news outlets picking up on the news well before the 2012 presidential election. Levin said, “I don’t believe for two seconds that Obama wasn’t aware of this.”

What´s so interesting about 60 tea partiers protesting the IRS in San Jose, California on Tuesday, May 21st? The fact that this bit of information was conveyed to the protesters by a Department of Homeland Security officer who was also in attendance. On “Fox News Sunday” last weekend, White House aide Dan Pfeiffer was asked about President Barack Obama’s whereabouts the night of the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi. This was the night when we lost our first ambassador in 30 years, and when three other Americans were killed in an attack that lasted all night long at multiple locations within the eastern Libyan city. Since the president is commander in chief, one would think where he was and what he did during such an event would be of obvious public concern.
