Hagel will only be a figurehead if he is confirmed. He´ll assume Hillary´s role of wasting massive amounts of Air Force jet fuel by flying to an endless number of countries for reasons never quite clear. If an actual crisis occurs, Obama will dispatch a more trusted "regional specialist" to the area.

Hagel´s real role will be as the Republican who stripped our military of men, weapons, especially our ever smaller nuclear deterrent, and bases. Won´t be Obama´s fault, but the Republicans.

Hagel will be Obama´s yes man at the Pentagon, as Obama sets out on a progressive plan to transform the DOD to the point where the USA will no longer have the strategic military expeditionary capabilities to get involved in future foreign wars. That is not good at a time that potential adversaries are modernizing their military capabilities.

Now the leader of the American Empire has adopted a similar weak and self-destructive policy, as the appointment of Chuck Hagel officially demonstrates.

Watching Hagel during the hearing made me think he is on Statins and is have serious problems with short term memory and decision making.
