Johanns: ´Chuck earned
his endorsement´

Lincoln Journal Star [Neb], by Don Walton

Original Article

Sen. Mike Johanns said Saturday he will vote to confirm Chuck Hagel´s nomination for secretary of defense. In the wake of Hagel´s contentious confirmation hearing before the Senate Armed Services Committee on Thursday, the green light from Nebraska´s senior Republican senator could be timely and pivotal in helping pave the way for additional Republican support in the Senate. As Johanns noted in a telephone interview, he is the member of the Senate who knows Nebraska´s former Republican senator best. But, Johanns said, "do not think he got a pass from me because he´s a friend."

You have to remember that the same group of establishment Republicans in Nebraska who are the leaders of Johann´s base where the same for Hagel.

Then add on the fact that the US Senate is a club.

"Chuck earned his endorsement" Wow, Johanns must be cheap. What´s earning got to do with it. The lunatics are in charge. Hagel will likely be confirmed. I see disaster ahead with him at defense and Kerry at state and Obama in charge of them.

Thank you #10. It was a jaw- dropping experience to see all Republican strategists, analysts, former and present elected Republicans pontificating yesterday. Yes, all admit Hagel obviously demonstrated nothing near competence at the hearing. But when asked, the dolts calmly say oh yeah he will get through! TERM LIMITS. We have been fools to let them talk us out of it all these years. Johanns figures the folks in his district will still keep him.

Yeah, it´s beyond disgusting to see the likes of Hagel win approval, but I honestly have a hard time really caring because the sad reality is that the next nominee to come from the Kenyan would probably make our hair stand on end. We´re in an untenable situation since the election and I just don´t see anyway out soon by conventional means.

Where does Nebraska get these Republicans? Didn´t one accept a bribe to vote in Obamacare about 4 years ago? Pathetic!

#18, I believe the Nebraska Senator who voted for Obama Care in return for the so-called "Cornhusker Kickback" was a Democrat named Ben Nelson. Apparently that vote rendered him unelectable in Nebraska so he retired. Now he has a big lobbying job in Washington, DC for the insurance industry.

When Hagel was in the Senate representing Nebraska as a RINO Republican, he never lived there, and was in actuality a Democrat when he was in Washington, DC. When the folks out in Nebraska figured that out they rendered Hagel as being unelectable and he retired.

Then they had Bob Kerrey, a big time liberal Democrat, who has lived in New York city for over a decade, who Harry Reid recruited and sent back to Nebraska to run for Nelson´s old senate seat in last years election. Kerrey lost, and quickly moved to San Francisco.

If you oppose anything Obama, you´re a right wing fundamentalist who needs to dig your own grave before being shot and falling in.A compassionate liberal will be there doing community service by filling the hole back in.

The LSM admits Hagel was a disaster at the hearings but that doesn´t mean anything about his qualifications, afterall he´s war hero(sort of).

Widespread reports that Hagel performed miserably at the Senate hearings, yet know we hear that he will still be confirmed. Our world is upside down.

I´ve never been more ashamed to call myself a Republican than during the last week. Those who should be ashamed are they who have frantically labored to smear Chuck Hagel. I also get a kick of non-Jews throwing around the Anti-semitic slur about a guy who has been backed by the Anti Defemation League. and then there are the challenges to his patriotism -- imagine challenging a man who faced death in Vietnam for his patriotism? A new low for the my sad sack of a party. Amnesty and character assassination of fellow Republicans-- interesting way to try to rebuild after 2012 elections. Hello, wilderness. Might as well get used to it.

Whatever else happens as a result of the multiple controversies that have engulfed the administration, one thing is clear: President Obama has failed to meet one of the most important goals he set out when he was first elected, which was to demonstrate that activist government could also be smart government. (Snip) As he put it then: “I think what you saw in this election was people saying, ‘Yes, we don’t want some big, bureaucratic, ever-expanding state. On the other hand, we don’t want a state that’s dysfunctional, that doesn’t believe in its mission, that can’t carry out

Richmond, Va.—Virginia´s activist conservative attorney general has won the Republican Party´s gubernatorial nomination by acclamation. At the GOP´s statewide convention, thousands of conservatives and tea party followers who dominated the Richmond Coliseum on Saturday roared their unanimous support for Ken Cuccinelli. He was unopposed for the nomination and is generally beloved by the tea party for his aggressive challenges to federal mandates. Cuccinelli is an abortion foe who was the first state attorney general to challenge President Barack Obama´s health care reforms in 2010. He faces former Democratic National Committee chairman and Clinton family protege Terry McAuliffe

The House voted to repeal ObamaCare on Thursday for the third time since Republicans took over the chamber in 2011. Only two Democrats sided with Republicans in the party-line 229-195 vote — Jim Matheson (Utah) and Mike McIntyre (N.C.). All Republicans voted in favor of repeal. This is the 37th time the House GOP has voted to repeal or defund at least part of the bill, but this latest bill will also not become law given Democrats´ control of the Senate. Still, many House Republicans had clamored for the bill from Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) to be considered,

Obama administration officials who were in key positions on Sept. 11, 2012, acknowledge that a range of mistakes were made the night of the attacks on the U.S. missions in Benghazi, and in messaging to Congress and the public in the aftermath. The officials spoke to CBS News in a series of interviews and communications under the condition of anonymity so that they could be more frank in their assessments. They do not all agree on the list of mistakes and it's important to note that they universally claim that any errors or missteps did not cost lives and reflect "incompetence rather than malice or cover up.

Watching President Obama trying to dodge raindrops and responsibility yesterday reminded me of the moment when Dorothy pulls back the curtain and discovers that the Wizard of Oz is “just a man.” Stripped of his spell of mystery and power, the wizard is worse than mortal. He’s a fake. So it was with Obama in the Rose Garden. His performance was tired and trite, ordinary to the point of dull. His veneer of passion was so transparent that you could see him trying to summon his old-time magic by pushing the buttons

In the wake of one of the worst abuses of government power in recent history, many are rushing to frame the Internal Revenue Service scandal as simply an attack on conservative activists. That view risks creating a partisan political football and misses a fundamentally scarier abuse that exceeds the scandals of Watergate or any other prior government abuse. The IRS has admitted that since May 2010 it targeted grassroots-conservative organizations that had applied for tax-exempt status, unfairly subjecting them to rigorous scrutiny due to their political leanings. Such groups were told they were required to comply with IRS requests,

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.

The Internal Revenue Service´s watchdog told top Treasury officials around June 2012 he was investigating allegations the tax agency had targeted conservative groups, for the first time indicating that Obama administration officials were aware of the explosive matter in the midst of the president´s re-election campaign. The lawmaker leading the charge to investigate the Benghazi terror attack on Friday subpoenaed the co-author of a report that slammed the State Department but didn´t interview Hillary Clinton. House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) formally demanded that retired ambassador Thomas Pickering submit to being deposed by the committee next Thursday. The subpoena comes in the wake of a series of acrimonious public exchanges this week between the two men. Issa didn´t issue a subpoena to former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Michael Mullen, who co-authored the Benghazi report with Pickering.
