| Sen. Mike Johanns said Saturday he will vote to confirm Chuck Hagel´s nomination for secretary of defense. In the wake of Hagel´s contentious confirmation hearing before the Senate Armed Services Committee on Thursday, the green light from Nebraska´s senior Republican senator could be timely and pivotal in helping pave the way for additional Republican support in the Senate. As Johanns noted in a telephone interview, he is the member of the Senate who knows Nebraska´s former Republican senator best. But, Johanns said, "do not think he got a pass from me because he´s a friend."

Thank you #10. It was a jaw- dropping experience to see all Republican strategists, analysts, former and present elected Republicans pontificating yesterday. Yes, all admit Hagel obviously demonstrated nothing near competence at the hearing. But when asked, the dolts calmly say oh yeah he will get through! TERM LIMITS. We have been fools to let them talk us out of it all these years. Johanns figures the folks in his district will still keep him.

Yeah, it´s beyond disgusting to see the likes of Hagel win approval, but I honestly have a hard time really caring because the sad reality is that the next nominee to come from the Kenyan would probably make our hair stand on end. We´re in an untenable situation since the election and I just don´t see anyway out soon by conventional means.

#18, I believe the Nebraska Senator who voted for Obama Care in return for the so-called "Cornhusker Kickback" was a Democrat named Ben Nelson. Apparently that vote rendered him unelectable in Nebraska so he retired. Now he has a big lobbying job in Washington, DC for the insurance industry.
When Hagel was in the Senate representing Nebraska as a RINO Republican, he never lived there, and was in actuality a Democrat when he was in Washington, DC. When the folks out in Nebraska figured that out they rendered Hagel as being unelectable and he retired.
Then they had Bob Kerrey, a big time liberal Democrat, who has lived in New York city for over a decade, who Harry Reid recruited and sent back to Nebraska to run for Nelson´s old senate seat in last years election. Kerrey lost, and quickly moved to San Francisco.

The lawmaker leading the charge to investigate the Benghazi terror attack on Friday subpoenaed the co-author of a report that slammed the State Department but didn´t interview Hillary Clinton. House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) formally demanded that retired ambassador Thomas Pickering submit to being deposed by the committee next Thursday. The subpoena comes in the wake of a series of acrimonious public exchanges this week between the two men. Issa didn´t issue a subpoena to former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Michael Mullen, who co-authored the Benghazi report with Pickering.
