| Ankara, Turkey-The suicide bomber who struck the U.S. Embassy in Ankara spent several years in prison on terrorism charges but was released on probation after being diagnosed with a hunger strike-related brain disorder, officials said Saturday. The bomber, identified as 40-year-old leftist militant Ecevit Sanli, killed himself and a Turkish security guard on Friday, in what U.S. officials said was a terrorist attack. The House voted to repeal ObamaCare on Thursday for the third time since Republicans took over the chamber in 2011. Only two Democrats sided with Republicans in the party-line 229-195 vote — Jim Matheson (Utah) and Mike McIntyre (N.C.). All Republicans voted in favor of repeal. A former administrator at the New York nonprofit that distributes German reparations to Holocaust survivors was convicted yesterday of running a $57 million fraud that used Russian immigrants to pose as victims of the Nazis. A Manhattan federal jury deliberated five hours before finding Semen Domnitser guilty of conspiracy and mail fraud. Oksana Romalis and Luba Kramrish were also convicted of swindling the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany. Domnitser, Romalis and Kramrish were the only three of 31 defendants to maintain their innocence in what US Attorney Preet Bharara called “unthinkable crimes.”

STANDING BEFORE reporters Thursday, President Obama declined an invitation to compare the recent scandals weighing down his administration with those that forced President Nixon to resign in 1974. So allow us to do the work for him: There is no comparison. Nixon, in a series of crimes that collectively came to be known as Watergate, directed from the White House and Justice Department a concerted campaign against those he perceived as political enemies, in the process subverting the FBI, the IRS, other government agencies and the electoral process to his nefarious purposes. Mr. Obama has done nothing of the kind.
