Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa late Friday shot down speculation in California and Washington about his candidacy for an Obama Cabinet position—at least until the summer. Villaraigosa for months has been the subject of buzz he would be selected to succeed Secretary Ray LaHood at the Transportation Department or as a nominee to head the Department of Commerce. But he said in a statement that he is focused on the last five months of his second term as mayor of Los Angeles. “I have said many times I will be focused on my job as mayor of Los Angeles until 11:59 and 59 seconds on

Quel dommage! He´s a total incompetent. He would have been a perfect fit in the Obama regime.

How about abolishing this useless Department (along with ´Education´, homeland ´Security´, HUD, Interior, and ´Energy´)

That would be a good start

This s how little Tony Villar keeps his name in the news.

He would take a cabinet position in a heartbeat if one was offered to him. Whether he´d pass Senate confirmation is another matter. Shady past.

Here in LA, we know him. Failed his CA bar exam multiple times(don´t know if he ever past). Worked for local union several years. Cheated on wife, was humping local Hispanic news reporter while married. Has actually beat Gloria Alread getting in front of cameras several times. Can not formulate a single complex sentence.

He is a perfect fit for 0´bama´s cabinet1

Perfectly reasonable. Holding out for a gig with more graft and baksheesh potential.

Re #5, he failed the bar exam four times and I don´t believe he ever tried again. (There may be a limit?) He is a total loser in every way you have described and more.

A communist. Incompetence, nastiness, and wanting to take your liberty can be taken for granted.

Reply 9 - Posted by: ktwo, 2/2/2013 5:22:29 PM     (No. 9154795)

It makes sense to me. DOT is not a high profile job. He might not even get a private jet to fly to back to CA every weekend.

With a Hispanice majority he will run for Governor. Or go for the Senate if Feinstein or Boxer leaves.

Reply 10 - Posted by: Trigger2, 2/3/2013 5:34:58 AM     (No. 9155293)

Villaraigosa is an incompetent mayor, thus he would fit right in with the rest of the incompetent WH administration.

Tony Villar may be the only human alive that could make Biden seem intelligent by comparison.

Whatever else happens as a result of the multiple controversies that have engulfed the administration, one thing is clear: President Obama has failed to meet one of the most important goals he set out when he was first elected, which was to demonstrate that activist government could also be smart government. (Snip) As he put it then: “I think what you saw in this election was people saying, ‘Yes, we don’t want some big, bureaucratic, ever-expanding state. On the other hand, we don’t want a state that’s dysfunctional, that doesn’t believe in its mission, that can’t carry out

Richmond, Va.—Virginia´s activist conservative attorney general has won the Republican Party´s gubernatorial nomination by acclamation. At the GOP´s statewide convention, thousands of conservatives and tea party followers who dominated the Richmond Coliseum on Saturday roared their unanimous support for Ken Cuccinelli. He was unopposed for the nomination and is generally beloved by the tea party for his aggressive challenges to federal mandates. Cuccinelli is an abortion foe who was the first state attorney general to challenge President Barack Obama´s health care reforms in 2010. He faces former Democratic National Committee chairman and Clinton family protege Terry McAuliffe

Legions of Wimbledon fans may find it hard to credit in the man who once defined bad behaviour on the tennis court, but Jimmy Connors says he ‘turned on the charm’ the first time he chatted up Chris Evert.(Snip)Although she has since bitterly regretted giving up on a ‘good, solid marriage’, what some have described as her mid-life crisis struck in 2006 when she divorced Mill after 18 years. House votes to repeal ObamaCare

The House voted to repeal ObamaCare on Thursday for the third time since Republicans took over the chamber in 2011. Only two Democrats sided with Republicans in the party-line 229-195 vote — Jim Matheson (Utah) and Mike McIntyre (N.C.). All Republicans voted in favor of repeal. This is the 37th time the House GOP has voted to repeal or defund at least part of the bill, but this latest bill will also not become law given Democrats´ control of the Senate. Still, many House Republicans had clamored for the bill from Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) to be considered,

Back in March, The Wall Street Journal’s Damian Paletta profiled Daniel Werfel — then the controller for the White House budget office, and today the newly named acting commissioner of the IRS — focusing on his role in instructing the government how to deal with the sequester’s $85 billion in budget cuts. Here are some highlights from the profile: Known in the White House as “Danny,” Mr. Werfel graduated from Cornell University, earned a master’s degree in public policy from Duke University and a law degree from the University of North Carolina. Obama administration officials who were in key positions on Sept. 11, 2012, acknowledge that a range of mistakes were made the night of the attacks on the U.S. missions in Benghazi, and in messaging to Congress and the public in the aftermath. The officials spoke to CBS News in a series of interviews and communications under the condition of anonymity so that they could be more frank in their assessments. They do not all agree on the list of mistakes and it's important to note that they universally claim that any errors or missteps did not cost lives and reflect "incompetence rather than malice or cover up.

In the wake of one of the worst abuses of government power in recent history, many are rushing to frame the Internal Revenue Service scandal as simply an attack on conservative activists. That view risks creating a partisan political football and misses a fundamentally scarier abuse that exceeds the scandals of Watergate or any other prior government abuse. The IRS has admitted that since May 2010 it targeted grassroots-conservative organizations that had applied for tax-exempt status, unfairly subjecting them to rigorous scrutiny due to their political leanings. Such groups were told they were required to comply with IRS requests,

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.

The Internal Revenue Service´s watchdog told top Treasury officials around June 2012 he was investigating allegations the tax agency had targeted conservative groups, for the first time indicating that Obama administration officials were aware of the explosive matter in the midst of the president´s re-election campaign. The disclosure to the Treasury general counsel and the deputy secretary was a cursory one, according to J. Russell George, the Treasury inspector general for tax administration. He said he didn´t reveal conclusions of the probe, which was in its early stages, and his disclosure came as part

The lawmaker leading the charge to investigate the Benghazi terror attack on Friday subpoenaed the co-author of a report that slammed the State Department but didn´t interview Hillary Clinton. House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) formally demanded that retired ambassador Thomas Pickering submit to being deposed by the committee next Thursday. The subpoena comes in the wake of a series of acrimonious public exchanges this week between the two men. Issa didn´t issue a subpoena to former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Michael Mullen, who co-authored the Benghazi report with Pickering.

A healthcare provider has sued the Internal Revenue Service and 15 of its agents, charging they wrongfully seized 60 million medical records from 10 million Americans. The name of the provider is not yet known, United Press International said. But Courthouse News Service said the suit claims the agency violated the Fourth Amendment in 2011, when agents executed a search warrant for financial data on one employee – and that led to the seizure of information on 10 million, including state judges. The search warrant did not specify that the IRS could take medical information, UPI said.
