| Free Markets: Unemployment in socialist Brazil has hit a record-low 4.6%, the government said Thursday, two days after it proposed a $15 billion tax cut. So why can´t the U.S. elect socialists who deliver such results? The short answer is that Brazil, now 10 years under socialist rule, has learned lessons about taxing the rich, spending, drilling for oil and defending the currency since its earlier socialistic days of runaway inflation, high taxes and low growth. In short, it knows that free-market reform works. Brazil´s free-market changes largely began with the presidency of centrist Fernando Henrique Cardoso in 1995.

Even some socialists, such as Brazil´s and Chile´s, show high growth rates and low unemployment. Why? Because they don´t mess with the free market reforms that came before them. They don´t dismantle their Reagan legacies. Obama is just the opposite. He joins the idiots in Argentina.

Maybe I´m thick...but doesn´t a belief in free markets make you a capitalist? I wasn´t aware there was such a thing as a free market socialist.

The thing is, they ARE socialists. They spend like a storm. But they never let spending go above GDP. They know you can´t kill the goose that lays the golden egg (the private sector) and then expect to have more eggs the way Obama does. They also leave their Reagan Revolutions that came before them in place. Obama wants to destroy every last vestige of Reaganism and take us back to Jimmy Carter America. That´s his dream.

Euros and Brazil, Chile et.al. are willing to pay for their social programs and realize they must be financed by a robust free market economy. 75% of U.S. spending is from revenues generated... In Denmark it´s 99%. The 25% we´re short is financed by China. Obama doesn´t seem to care or realize, along with his Lofo followers.

CARACAS, Venezuela Venezuela´s biggest food company on Monday hit back at President Nicolas Maduro´s claims that it´s to blame for the country´s persistent food shortages. The chief executive of Empresas Polar, Lorenzo Mendoza, rejected accusations by the president that the company has reduced production and is hoarding products to create scarcity. "The accusations that we are producing less than last year are false," Mendoza told reporters. "I presume that President Nicolas Maduro is not well informed about the situation and about what´s happening."

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd. Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight committee Wednesday.

One of two men allegedly being questioned in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings was shot and killed by an FBI agent in Florida on Tuesday, (Snip)A friend of Ibragim Todashev said he and Todashev were being investigated as part of the Boston bombings. He said Todashev, 27, knew bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev because both were MMA fighters. The man claims he and Todashev were interviewed by the FBI for nearly three hours on Tuesday. The friend said he left the interview, and when he came back to the apartment he found that there had been a shooting.
