| ‘I’ve said many, many things over many, many years,” said Chuck Hagel, the president’s nominee for secretary of defense, in a Senate hearing yesterday. He was trying, for the umpteenth time during his testimony, to explain away another of the many, many impolitic statements that have come to light over the past couple of months. Well, as a result of this confirmation hearing — the most disastrous of its kind since another veteran senator, John Tower, blew himself up in his pursuit of the same post back in 1989 — Hagel has probably lost many, many votes

People should realize that Hagel was picked by a guy who some thing will engineer a third term as president. Obama is not infallible. The only thing he´s managed to do well is get elected twice and the way he accomplished that is shady.

The worst part of this nomination, and given far too little scrutiny, is Obama´s intentions - for the military, for Israel, and for the USA. Cloaking these intentions with the GOP label (even though Hagel is a RINO) was something Obama apparently thought he could get away with, again.
It´s the intentions, stupid.

Watching the Hagel hearings yesterday I find it impossible to believe that anyone can think that Obama is merely incompetent. How can anyone not see that he is deliberately selecting people who are helping to dismantle this great country?
I feel trapped in a Kafkaesque nightmare, with each passing day revealing a yet more troubling indignity heaped on this country...in the open, and without any apparent resistance. Anti-military Secretary of Defense? No problem. Another trillion in debt? Sure, why not. Get rid of yet another part of the Constitution? Swell.
Helloooo...anybody out there? Am I still in the United States of America?

I´m with you #3. For four plus years now, every day has brought some new fresh hell. And the effects are, sadly beginning to numb. Yesterday´s affronts are forgotten as Obama and his minions pile on. Outrage on that topic for a day, then on to the next atrocity til, ultimately, everything is swept conveniently from memory. He´s trying to turn us into zombies, and he´s suceeding. Hagel is despicable, but where does his nomination lie on the scale of Obama atrocities? We can´t keep up with all the fronts on which he is waging his war on us.

Sadly, #4, I agree with you, numbness tends to set in but we have to keep on keeping on or our beloved country will be lost to us forever. I curled up into a fetal position on election night, I admit it, but I´m slowly crawling out of that funk and continuing to inform myself, holding my head high and making conservative notes when I can and if I can do it at my age (80) then so can you.

Count me in with #3 and #4. For the last four years I have awakened each morning with a sense of impending doom. And at the end of each day my apprehensions have usually been made realities as zippy has performed yet another ´outrage of the day´.

Hagel was so bad that I contacted my two "yes Messiah" Senators Warner and Kaine for the first time ever. I think that this performance will have the best chance of making them think twice about giving the okay to Hagel. Warner is up for reelection in 2014, he may think about it pretty hard.

BOSTON — A federal judge has ordered Homeland Security officials to release certain immigration records following a newspaper´s 2012 lawsuit. The Boston Globe was seeking names of "convicted criminal aliens" who were not deported after completing their sentences because their homelands wouldn´t take them back. A 2001 Supreme Court decision says people who are set for deportation can´t be detained more than six months when their removal isn´t likely in the near future. The government argued against the release of thousands of names, saying it would be a privacy invasion.
