| The Post reports that the odds are increasing — perhaps to the point of near certainty — that the so-called “sequester” will take effect March 1. This would be a pity. For non-budget wonks, the sequester mandates about $1 trillion in government spending cuts over nine years, divided between defense and non-defense programs. These would be the wrong cuts, done in the wrong way. There’s a better approach. First, some background. The sequester was never intended to take effect. It was designed as a sledgehammer to force congressional leaders to negotiate deficit reductions.

This guy is delusional. Private sector has been cutting staff massively in the last 10 years. Many large employers rate their employees on a scale of 5 down to 1. Every yeaw the "1"s get laid off. About time Government do the same. Make do with less. Feel the pain. Tighten it up.

I have a better suggestion:
Cut all welfare benefits by 2%. A welfare queen, taking $500 a month of our tax dollars to pay her rent will now have $490 a month. Cut all federal bureaucrat´s salaries by 5%. Bureaucrats that were making $100,000 a year will now be making $95,000 a year. The $40,000 a year bureaucrats will be making $38,000 a year.
Do this again next year, if it goes well this year.
Free clue: Social Security and Medicare are NOT welfare programs for most of us. We paid for those programs through our payroll tax deductions.

The author is proposing actions which he has proposed before, as he says "with no takers". He does not expect anyone to take his advice this time either. Which is just as well since it is completely useless and even dangerous.

The media just doesn´t get that this economy is on the brink of collapse. Unfortunately, it´s going to take economic Armegeddon before the idiots wake up.
And Obama is the same. He´s the same as the politician who thinks he can finance local government by having the police write more tickets for speeding or seat belt violations.

My problem with the sequester is that it doesn´t cut nearly enough and doesn´t even touch entitlements. Needless to say, the liberal hacks at the Washington Post aren´t going to see things my way.
It is kind of nice that Boehner engineered it so that most of the Bush tax cuts are now permanent, and the sequester will happen unless Obama gives a lot of ground. I may have underestimated the man.

An IRS supervisor working in Washington told congressional investigators that she personally reviewed applications from groups for tax-exempt status, in testimony that appears to show the agency’s scrutiny of conservative groups extended beyond the confines of the office in Cincinnati. Holly Paz, who was a supervisor in the Internal Revenue Service’s tax-exempt status division, indicated during an interview with congressional investigators that she did review such applications, but indicated that she believed “tea party” meant political advocacy in general — not necessarily conservative groups.

The Supreme Court ruled today in Arizona v. Inter Tribal Council that federal law does not allow states the option of requiring voters to prove they are American citizens when they register to vote. Syria is turning out to be a sort of Spanish Civil War of our age, with Hezbollah and Iran playing the role of fascist Italy and Germany, and the Islamic nations and jihadists that of Stalin’s Russia, as the moderates disappear and the messy conflict becomes a proxy war for greater powers, with worse to come. Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy.
