It’s not clear if administration sources that leaked the story that Chuck Hagel had three practice sessions before a mock committee before his actual Senate confirmation hearing were trying to help or hurt the former senator. Hagel’s performance was so shaky that even some of his liberal supporters like Peter Beinart were lamenting on Twitter about his stumbling and bumbling answers to tough questions. That he flopped so badly after being rehearsed speaks volumes about how bad he was. Indeed, he had so many misstatements that it will be hard for news organizations to choose
The Chuck "USA is the world´s bully" Hagel appointment says more about the goofball appointing him than it does about Hagel. Just like the Van Jones appointment, the Kagan appointment and all the rest. President Decline is very, very busy...
The Nebraska voters figured out that Hagel was a pretend Republican years ago and dumped him. They say that when he visited Nebraska he talked like a Republican, but while in Washington, DC, he was a Democrat.
Hagel represents everything wrong about D.C. He should have run as a Democrat when he was in the Senate because that is what he is. But he didn´t have the courage to do that so he pretended to Nebraska that he was GOP. Hagel is nothing but a fascist who likes to bash Bush, the GOP, and Israel and is beloved by Iran and al-Jazeera and Obama. Vote NO on Hagel.
But once he is confirmed, he assures us he will learn more about the military. God Bless our MILITARY HEROES! They need God´s blessing everyday, but they will need more of it if this asshat is confirmed.
My complaint...former Senator Hagel is left in shreds by his Republican fraternity brothers yet two of America´s most notorious card carrying Dark Siders, Madame Hillary and Liveshot, are given a complete pass! We are indeed living in bizarre times!
Sen. McCain asked former Sen. Hagel if he now thinks he was wrong about the surge. IOW, he tried to give Hagel a chance to praise the U.S. military´s role in Iraq. Hagel wouldn´t admit he was wrong! This guy wants to be Sec. of Defense? Unbelievable.

Just sent my no requests to Udall and Bennett, which, over the past few years, is an exercise in futility. Going to their sites is depressing. They trumpet one stupid liberal idea after another. Paycheck fairness, wind power, clean water, all sound good on paper, but a job killers.
what IS the difference between hagel and kerry? Here in ma, kerry made it clear that our evil ways came home to roose on 9/11 and has attacked the USA since his first appearance testifying on the hill. Hagel is another enemy of the USA. And it is obvious that the people in congress share these men´s attitude towards the USA, along with our present potus. So, if the people of the USA are happy with high unemployment, high debt, losing their homes, having our people slaughtered in far away places and doing nothing about it....doesn´t it follow that these two creatures are just right for the jobs they have been nominated for?

Amen #25. However I still believe that Hagel is a stalking horse in our puppet presidency. If he fails, an even worse (but female and/or black) substitute will be nominated. If he wins, he will take all orders from ValJar. End of story. We, unfortunately, are cooked.
Obama´s approach to selecting members of his administration is often seen in the business world: the boss who is so insecure he only hires unimpressive underlings so that no one can outshine him. It´s a recipe for disaster when ´the boss´ is as highly incompetent and inexperienced as Obama is. He really has to scrape bottom to find people with even less ability.
I believe Obama prefers his minions to be meek, mild and willing to follow and do whatever he wants. His choices and appointments over the past four years have been bizarre and puzzling, in most cases.
Please don´t link him to Nebraska because as soon as he was elected to the senate, he moved his family to the east coast and never came back. Sorry to say that I voted for him and he turned his back on conservative principles which is why we voted him out.
Is Hagel getting grilled becuase he is no longer in the good ol boys club while Kerry oozes on through?
As for Hagel´s experience in Vietnam and his opinion of the Iraq War, if I could have been a senator yesterday, I would have asked him: So did you support the reason were in Vietnam but not the lack of political will and do yo believe the same about Iraq? And just when and under what conditions would you send troops into harm´s way?
Hagel is a shoo in for SEC DEF. He is the perfect candidate for the all the democrats trying their best to knock the U.S. down a rung or two. The dems and the media can beat him up for being an evil republican all the while enjoying the fruits of his labors.
I served with Hagel on a non-profit advisory board in Omaha during the mid 90s. I remember being amazed at his enormous ego and abject stupidity. He is without question the walking definition of an empty suit. And thus a perfect fit in the Obama cabinet.
It´s a coin flip whether Chuck Hagel is John Kerry lite or the reverse. Either way they are both Obama sycophants who are right at home in the D.C. animal house, one in the r(h)ino pen and the other in with the asses and donkeys.
In my worst nightmares I never dreamed of this country disintegrating like it has in the past ten years. I pray we haven´t reached the point where the only way to eliminate the parasites is for the host to die.
If we survive long enough for history to be written, obama will be remembered as the scoundrel who reversed most of the civil rights from Lincoln to the present day and betrayed all the people he fraudulently adopted (the only thing black about obama is his heart) for his own nefarious reasons. He should be tried and convicted of treason and dealt with accordingly!
Here´s my personal theory on RINOs. By nature, politicians have huge egos. Republicans elected to congress quickly discover that the best (only) way to get face time on the evening news and talking head shows is to buck their own party. There´s nothing more beloved by the media than a Republican turncoat. So it´s not so much that a RINO is a closet liberal as it is he will say and do anything to feed his massive ego.

I can´t believe that everyone has missed the point. Obama elected him because he knew he would be an fail.(The useful idiot). 1. He is a Republican. 2. Obama wants to destroy the republicans. 3. And Hagel put the icing on the cake.
BRIAN WILLIAMS: Tonight I interview Secretary of Defense nominee Chuck Hagel and President Obama.
[turns to monitor]
Uh, you’re smoking, Mr. President? Didn’t you quit? OBAMA: Backslid after watching Hagel yesterday, Stevo. And it´s grass not a cigarette--special blend called ´´mariguana´´ because it’s grown in female bat dung. I told you it was a ´´joint´´ interview. ? Fly me to the moon . . . .? HAGEL: That’s the weed talking, Brian. I’ll kick his butt when he gets unfocused. WILLIAMS: Why do this interview, sir? OBAMA: People feel better about me when I appear next to dunderheads, Brian. And I wanted to thank Chuck publicly for distracting everyone from today’s miserable economic numbers. HAGEL: Glad to help, sir. WILLIAMS: Why did you choose Chuck Hagel for Secretary of Defense, sir? OBAMA: Reid wanted a doormat in the post; promised that if I picked Hagel, the Senate wouldn’t submit a budget for another four years. WILLIAMS: Senator, why did you accept the offer? HAGEL: I’ve been playing ‘’Call of Duty” on Xbox since it first came out, Brian. It’s time to get real. WILLIAMS: Sir, if Senator Hagel is confirmed, will you send him to Russia to talk disarmament? OBAMA: Absolutely. Can you think of anyone better than Chuck to give away the store? HAGEL: I can work with Putin, Brian. As Reagan said, ‘’Trust, don’t vilify.’’
He couldn´t decipher his own crib notes... which he had with him at the hearing... they consisted of the used toilet tissues from the last time Chuckie axs-sisted his mentor, George Soros, with personal hygiene after a chili dinner.
It happens. And it´s why his nomination reeks to Allah. May his nomination soon meet 72 virgins... DOA...
I think 52 hit the nail on the head. If you´ve ever been around drunks they don´t look so good sober and they frequently are incoherent. Hagel had those characteristics in his presentation. Only his family and close friends will know if he has a drinking problem but he sure looked like it to me.
The only hope for stopping Hagel lies with the 55 Democrat Senators. They have enough votes to confirm him while still allowing four Red State Senators a No vote for cover . Manchin was so effusive in his praise that he actually expressed his longing desire to serve in a foxhole with Hagel. It is jaw dropping that the Commander in Chief posed for a woman´s fashion magazine on the day his nominee for Secretary of Defense behaved like an anti American , Anti-Semitic Alzheimer´s patient during his confirmation hearings. It is an insult and outrage to the military and the families of the 1811 Americans who have died in combat the past four years in Iraq and Afghanistan - to consider Hagel a fit candidate for SecDef. Only the 45 Senate Republicans recognize this .
They need to confirm this idiot and state if this is what the President wants this is what he should have. Obama´s SOS is just going to follow his bidding, get this idiot confirmed. At this point what difference does it make anyway?
Tea party groups and fiscal conservatives wasted no time Wednesday in savaging a bipartisan budget agreement negotiated between House Republicans and Senate Democrats, drawing an unusually angry response from House Speaker John A. Boehner, Ohio Republican. All sides were rating the winners and losers in the deal struck a day earlier between House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan, Wisconsin Republican, and Senate Budget Committee Chairwoman Patty Murray, Washington Democrat. The modest deficit-cutting deal had some sweeteners for defense contractors and oil drillers, while air travelers, federal workers and some corporate executives would take a hit.
The White House blasted Republicans on Wednesday for criticizing President Obama’s decision to shake hands with Cuban leader Raul Castro. “There used to be a pretty important principle, that originated in the Republican Party, I believe, that partisan politics should stop at the water’s edge,” said White House deputy press secretary Joshua Earnest. “It’s unfortunate that we did see a number of Republicans yesterday who criticized the president for a handshake.” Mr. Obama shook hands with Mr. Castro on stage in South Africa at the memorial service for Nelson Mandela on Tuesday. The U.S. does not have diplomatic relations with
FAIRPORT HARBOR, Ohio — It doesn’t take long to realize that Jim Majoros is passionate about his job, as he ponders the hue of a new hunting rifle he’s working on. “I’m going to call it ‘Persephone,’ ” he said, referring to the Greek goddess. “It’s going to be light green in color, you know, more soft, but for women who want to hunt.” Business is brisk for gunsmiths such as Majoros, who repairs and customizes firearms in this small Lake Erie beach town east of Cleveland. This year, more than 82,000 new concealed-carry weapons licenses were issued in Ohio
House Republicans appeared Wednesday to be rallying around an $85 billion deal to avert another government shutdown, brushing off complaints from their right wing that the effort would trade immediate spending cuts for less-certain long-term savings. After conducting a series of closed-door briefings and polling members during a late-afternoon vote, GOP leadership aides confidently predicted that the deal struck between House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and Senate Budget Committee Chairman Patty Murray (D-Wash.) would sail through the House when it comes to a vote Thursday. The moment seemed to mark a potentially significant shift by House Republicans away
A year that began with President Barack Obama riding high after his re-election victory and inauguration ends with him in the biggest hole of his presidency. A new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll finds the president with more Americans disapproving of his job performance than ever before; with half saying they’re either disappointed or dissatisfied with his presidency; and with 54% believing he’s facing a long-term setback. Perhaps more significantly, Obama has seen a drop in key presidential attributes, such as being honest and straightforward, being able to handle a crisis and being able to achieve his goals. “These are
The federal health-care law is becoming a heavier political burden for President Barack Obama and his party, despite increased confidence in the economy and the public´s own generally upbeat sense of well-being, a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll suggests. Disapproval of Mr. Obama´s job performance hit an all-time high in the poll, at 54%, amid the flawed rollout of the health law. Half of those polled now consider the law a bad idea, also a record high. The survey of 1,000 adults conducted between Dec. 4 and Dec. 8 found a sharp erosion since January in many of the
House and Senate negotiators announced Tuesday evening a $1.012 trillion two-year budget deal to replace some of the automatic spending sequester budget cuts and avert another government shutdown in January. Rep. Paul Ryan, Wisconsin Republican, said the two-year plan is a win for Republicans since it reduces the deficit by $23 billion without raising taxes or sacrificing core conservative values. “As a conservative, I think this is a step in the right direction. What am I getting out of this? I’m getting more deficit reduction. So the deficit will go down more by passing this than if we did nothing,”
When I was a kid, I knew two different Santa Clauses. The first had a fat belly, rosy cheeks, a long white beard, and skin as pink as bubble gum. He was omnipresent, visiting my pre-school and the local mall, visible in all of my favorite Christmas specials. Then there was the Santa in my family’s household, in the form of ornaments, cards, and holiday figurines. A near-carbon copy of the first one—big belly, rosy cheeks, long white beard: check, check, check. But his skin was as dark as mine. Seeing two different Santas was bewildering. Eventually I asked my father what
US President Barack Obama may have moved the masses attending Nelson Mandela’s memorial service with his stirring eulogy, but it was his grinning "selfie" with the Danish and British premiers that set social networks abuzz. In a candid moment captured by a photographer, Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt can be seen holding up her smartphone, with Obama lending a helping hand, as they pose for a picture with David Cameron, all three of them smiling broadly in their seats at Soweto’s World Cup stadium.(Snip)Mashable, the news and technology website, ran the photograph under the headline: ‘‘Dear Obama: Funerals are no place
Johannesburg - A man who provided sign language interpretation on stage for Nelson Mandela´s memorial service, attended by scores of heads of state, was a "fake," the national director of the Deaf Federation of South Africa said on Tuesday. Asked about the claim by The Associated Press, South Africa´s government said it was preparing a statement. Three sign language experts said the man was not signing in South African or American sign languages. South African sign language covers all of the country´s 11 official languages, according to the federation. It wasn´t immediately clear if the unidentified man was using a
On his way to the podium at the memorial ceremony for former South African president Nelson Mandela, President Obama walked down the line of dignitaries, greeting other leaders there to pay their respects. Among the hands shaken: that of Cuban leader Raul Castro. Obama neither made a special effort to shake Castro’s hand nor to avoid him. A snub might have been awkward: In his speech, Obama praised Mandela’s “greatest gift” as “his recognition that we are all bound together in ways that can be invisible to the eye; that there is a oneness to humanity; that we achieve ourselves by
House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) snapped at conservative groups that have come out in opposition to the budget deal reached Wednesday between Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.). "They´re using the American people for their own purposes. This is ridiculous," Boehner said at a press conference with other members of House Republican leadership on Wednesday. Over the past few days, a number of conservative groups have blasted the deal because it sets discretionary spending levels in the budget higher than previous levels under sequestration. In the past three days, the influential Heritage Action, Club for Growth, Americans
The Obama State Department has finally released a second round of photos revealing the harrowing devastation wrought by a terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012. The new photographs depict rampant damage to the consulate. They show charred walls, smoldering fires, Arabic graffiti defacing exterior walls, and scattered debris throughout. The extent of the damage would lead any reasonably serious person to conclude that this was a cold, calculated attack, carefully coordinated to mark the 11th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001. Unfortunately for the American people, the Obama-Clinton-Rice cabal that led to the Benghazi cover-up was
A black fashion student says he was brutally attacked by a gang of Hasidic men who shouted anti-gay slurs at him while he was walking through Williamsburg after a night of partying, the Daily News has learned. Taj Patterson, 22, was headed home to Fort Greene around 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 1 when he says more than a dozen ultra-Orthodox Jewish men began assaulting him on Flushing Ave. and yelling, “Stay down, f----t!”
