Chuck Hagel was bad.
And it doesn’t matter

Washington Post, by Chris Cillizza

Original Article

Former Nebraska Sen. Chuck Hagel was, at turns, halting, befuddled and, often, just plain bad during his confirmation hearing to be the next Secretary of Defense. And it almost certainly won’t keep him from becoming the next man to lead the Pentagon. Let’s start with what Hagel did wrong. He appeared to be taken completely aback by the aggressiveness of the questioning from many of his former Republican colleagues on long-hashed over topics like his posture toward Iran and Israel as well as his past statements regarding the surge in Iraq. This exchange with his one-time friend John McCain

Comments:
Even WaPo writers were wincing. But...since he was Obammy´s pick we all must obediently fall in line.

The dems don´t have the nerve to not vote for hagel. Even if they think he is totally wrong for the position. The king has spoken and they will do as commanded.

I heard Hagel was looking around the room for Candy Crowley to help clarify his previous statements.

So, according to WaPo, Hagel will be confirmed out of
i) loyalty to President Obama and
ii) allegiance to a fellow Senator.

Nothing about fitness for SecDef office. We´re doomed.

Hagel has zero experience in running an organization. The DoD is a massive bureaucracy, requiring managerial skills.
He will be a flop. (And he seems to be slightly befuddled.)
Hillary had no experience running an organization, and as became clear with the benghazi hearings, she was traveling the world, and no one was in charge of State.
John Kerry has no experience running an organization, and he might be worse than Hillary at State.
This is a sad time for our country.

The Obama crew is going to micromanage everything that goes on in the DOD from now on, Hagel will do what Obama wants or he will find himself looking for another job. Obama knows that Hagel will be his yes man at the Pentagon, that why Obama nominated Hagel.

Obama wouldn´t have nominated hagel unless he was sure he´d be a wall to wall lapdog for his atrocious policies.

Call your Democrat senators, if you any. I´m calling Kay Hagan, and I´m also going to call Angus King, who is a Maine neighbor. He doesn´t need to vote with the Dims on this.

The Democrats are going all out to destroy the greatest military ever. With gays marrying gays on military bases, a gay spouse is awarded spouse of the year, and women unilaterally allowed in combat roles what difference would Hagel make? Progressives and Democrats hate the military and he will just continue the destruction. In a sane world he wouldn´t even get nominated let alone one vote! That being said the Democrats will vote for him and enough RINOS that he will get through.

New York - In the fall of 2013, I gave a TED talk on what I learned as a progressive, on-air talking head at Fox News, where I worked for two years before leaving and joining my current home, CNN. After all, one of the most frequent questions I was asked during my time at Fox was how I did it, how I was a fox in the henhouse – or a hen in the Fox house, if you will. London - British police said Tuesday they had intervened after North Korean embassy officials reportedly told a London hairdresser to take down a discount haircuts advert featuring leader Kim Jong-Un. Mo Nabbach said two officials identifying themselves as being from the Stalinist state´s mission took pictures of his M&M Hair Academy in Ealing, west London. They then demanded to know his name and ordered him to remove the "disrespectful" poster from the salon window, he told the Evening Standard newspaper. The poster featured a large picture of Kim´s distinctive short-back-and-sides hairdo with the slogan: "Bad hair day? 15 percent off

Washington - It´s Friday night in Eckington, a quiet residential corner of Washington, and the back alley is crawling with feral cats -- rich pickings for seasoned cat-trapper Marty King. "Here, kitty kitty kitty kitty," said King after setting four metal traps baited with flaked shrimp and fish cat food and lined with fresh newspapers. After remarks he made at the National Action Network conference this week and various actions on voting rights and equality he’s taken over the past several months, MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry is starting to wonder if Attorney General Eric Holder is “the Obama we had been hoping for.” Even though she admitted it’s not entirely fair to “separate” Holder from President Barack Obama, that’s the question the host posed to her panel Saturday morning. “I think he may be the greatest addition to the entire Obama Administration,” Fordham University’s Christina Greer told Harris-Perry, saying the “foundational work”

KIEV/MOSCOW - Armed separatists took virtual control of a city in eastern Ukraine on Saturday and Kiev prepared troops to deal with what it called an "act of aggression by Russia". Pro-Russian activists carrying automatic weapons seized government buildings in Slaviansk and set up barricades on the outskirts of the city. Official buildings in several neighboring towns were also attacked. The developments have increased concerns of a possible "gas war" that could disrupt energy supplies across the continent. "The Ukrainian authorities consider the events of the day as a display of external aggression from Russia,"

Women’s specialty clothing chain Coldwater Creek filed for bankruptcy on Friday and said it will close all of its stores around the country, including 11 in Minnesota. The Sandpoint, Idaho-based company plans to time its liquidation sales to coincide with the traditionally busy Mother’s Day weekend. Coldwater Creek is the latest retailer to seek protection from creditors as consumers continue to manage their household budgets tightly and hold back on discretionary spending. Others to file for bankruptcy include discount chain Loehmann’s, trendy retailer Dots and the plus-sized Ashley Stewart Holdings. Coldwater Creek announced plans to seek strategic alternatives in October,

Neurosurgeon Ben Carson says the White House wanted him to apologize for “offending” President Obama after he famously delivered a conservative message at the National Prayer Breakfast last year. Carson, the former director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, recalls the events surrounding his 2013 speech in his new book, One Nation: What We Can All Do To Save America’s Future. The Daily Caller obtained an advance copy of the book, which is set for release May 20. “He did not appear to be hostile or angry,” Carson writes of Obama, “but within a matter of minutes after the conclusion of

President Obama inspired a generation of young people to support his historic election in 2008. And in 2012, despite the struggles of his first term, Mr. Obama still managed to win the support of a full 60% of voters age 18-29. But the man who once dreamed of being a transformative leader in the Reagan mold is inspiring few of those young people to follow his lead. "For all the talk about the movement that elected Mr. Obama, the more notable movement of Obama supporters has been away from politics. It appears that few of the young people who voted

On Saturday, I wrote about the standoff at Bundy Ranch. That post drew a remarkable amount of traffic, even though, as I wrote then, I had not quite decided what to make of the story. Since then, I have continued to study the facts and have drawn some conclusions. Here they are. First, it must be admitted that legally, Bundy doesn’t have a leg to stand on. The Bureau of Land Management has been charging him grazing fees since the early 1990s, which he has refused to pay. Further, BLM has issued orders limiting the area on which Bundy’s cows can

Chelsea Clinton says when people ask her these days whether she wants to go into politics, her answer isn’t an automatic “no.” The 34-year-old former first daughter told Fast Company in an interview published Monday, “for so long the answer was just a visceral no. Not because I had made any conscientious, deliberate decision, but since people had been asking for as long as literally I could remember, it was no." Although the Civil Rights Act, the landmark legislation which just reached its 50th anniversary, made great strides in desegregating the economy, economic discrimination is still widespread, and anti-discrimination legislation alone can never rectify the economic damage inflicted upon blacks by slavery and our Jim Crow apartheid regime. The Civil Rights Act was a mild reform, all things considered, but one conservatives fought with vigor and one many conservatives are still bitter about to this day. When the Civil Rights Act passed in 1964, the primary purpose was to root out discrimination in public accommodations (like hotels and movie theaters)

Sheryl Sandberg about her second book in the Lean In series Lean In: For Graduates was a head shaker. Amazing that she of all people allowed Sandberg to restring the same old, same old, shamed, and shopworn feminist myths about women and girls and then jangle it in front of her viewing audience like something new out of the box. Indeed Kelly all but genuflected in front of this woman. Kept her on thru

Western Washington University sent a questionnaire to students asking them for advice on how the administration could succeed at making sure that in future years, “we are not as white as we are today.” The question notes that WWU’s racial make up does not perfectly reflect the nation at large, and asks students to consider strategies that other universities have used to focus on skin color as the paramount indicator of a student-applicant’s worth. The president of WWU has stated that his explicit goal is to reduce the white population on campus, according to Campus Reform. “I’ve said before and I’ll say it
