US economy has ´paused´,
says Federal Reserve

The Federal Reserve left its ultra-loose monetary policy unchanged on Wednesday, saying the US economy had "paused" in recent months largely due to transitory issues. The Fed kept its record-low key interest rate between 0pc and 0.25pc, as expected, to push down long-term interest rates to boost the economy, AFP reported. "Growth in economic activity paused in recent months, in large part because of weather-related disruptions and other transitory factors," the Federal Open Market Committee, wrapping up a two-day meeting, said in a statement. The FOMC noted that job growth was rising at a "moderate" pace but the unemployment

My inner voice has donned the John Cleese character Mr. Praline complaining about his dead parrot. "The economy´s paused??? It´s PAUSED? This economy hasn´t bloody paused, mate. It´s hopped the twig! It´s shuffled off this mortal coil! It´s run down the curtain and joined the choir invisible!"

It´s all right, I´ll be fine just as soon as I nail the economy back on its perch.

The sanity of this country has paused as well.

We need a good hard crash to get everyone´s mind right.

The sooner, the better.

Yeah - - it´s just a wee bit out of breath.

Wouldn´t you be too after roaring along for such a long time?

Give the little fella a break. Don´t be such bullies.

Why isn´t a 14000 stock market trickling wealth out to anybody else? because it´s designed to enrich the ruling class oligarchy. The real money makers are in overseas emerging markets since this country is now anti capitalism. Amazon gets praise for losing money when the fact is Christmas sales were terrible this year.

In the meantime,Amazon gets millions worth of free advertising saying they´re under charging customers.

And so, our language changes, to suit their preferred definitions, which cover up what they´re doing.

Paused? Is that like going backwards? I see so many empty store fronts in my travels, it is not normal, it is sad. Our leaders are deceivers.

The American economy has not paused. It is moving downward at an accelerating 5% per year fall in living standards. The stock market is nearing 14000 because the US dollar held today will be worth 90 cents in a year. Dollar stores are now value stores, 1.25 stores, and soon 1.50 stores.

too bad a republican will never win the white house again because at least then the press would actually be reporting on this dreadful economy. The economy ´paused´ because of the weather?? my gosh

Yeah, the economy has stalled again, but apparently the biggest problem we face right now is that 20 million illegals who have been here for 20 years need to be given amnesty immediately. I guess giving 20 million people all the free government benefits is just what we need?!?

Since there is no "Reserve" in Federal Reserve I propose that it be renamed Federal Dissolution.

Neighborhoods south of Oklahoma City have suffered catastrophic damage after a two mile-wide tornado touched down in a highly-populated suburb on Monday afternoon, flattening entire schools and wiping out hundreds of homes in one of the worst storms the area has ever seen. As hail thundered down and heavy winds began whipping the area of Moore, a storm warning went off just before 3pm local time, alerting the 170,000 residents within the area to seek shelter. After about 35 minutes on the ground, the tornado appeared to dissipate. Devastating aerial images taken immediately afterwards show schools completely flattened by the

The floor of the community centre in Springdale, Arkansas, shakes to a staccato rhythm as the young Latino dancers practise their steps. [Snip] It is about nourishing their Mexican roots, making sure their culture doesn´t shrivel and die in this corner of the Deep South. I have come to Springdale because it is a harbinger of America´s future. Ten years ago there were hardly any Latinos here--now they make up more than 30% of the population. Predictions suggest that by 2030, this is what the US will look like. Changing attitudes? Right now, one in four Americans under 18 is

The Hungarian prime minister has drawn outrage in Germany after drawing parallels with comments made by Angela Merkel about sending "cavalry" to Hungary and the Nazi occupation of his country. [Snip] When asked about the situation last week, Mrs Merkel, the German chancellor, said she "would do everything to put Hungary in the right direction, but we won´t be sending in the cavalry straight away." Viktor Orban however brought up the Second World War. "The Germans have already sent cavalry to Hungary: they came in form of tanks," said the prime minister in a radio interview on Friday. Senator Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said on Sunday that the IRS scandal reveals a ´culture of intimidation´ in the Obama Administration that is bent on making it more difficult for ´citizens to organize and express themselves.´ In an interview on NBC´s ´Meet the Press´ McConnell, however, backed away from claims by fellow Kentucky Senator Rand Paul that IRS officials has circulated a memo directing tax collectors to give tougher scrutiny to any groups that were critical of the president. ´The investigation has just begun so I´m not going to speculate on what they may find, but what we do know

You´ll remember all that fuss about bees and neonicotinoids last month. It seemed to come out of nowhere--like a flash mob. Suddenly, it was the most urgent cause of the moment for green activists everywhere, with people taking to the streets in bee costumes and celebrities from Vivienne Westwood to Stephen Fry rushing to lend their support. [Snip] Those of us who´ve observed the environmental movement at work, though, will have recognised a familiar pattern here. First, the emergence of a new poster child victim of man´s selfishness and greed: in this case the bee. And we all love bees

Local Conservative party campaigners, including the chairman of one constituency association, will this week pledge their support for Nigel Farage after one of David Cameron’s allies described grassroots Tories as “mad, swivel-eyed loons”. Mr Farage uses an advertisement in Monday´s Telegraph to urge Conservative voters to back Ukip. The “loons” description, he says, is “the ultimate insult” from a party leadership that has betrayed the trust of its own supporters. He writes in the advertisement: “Only an administration run by a bunch of college kids, none of whom have ever had a proper job in their lives, could so

Severe weather has left a violent trail of destruction through the Midwest and South, bringing high winds, heavy rains and tornadoes - and at least one person has been killed. Numerous twisters were spotted on Saturday evening near Rozel, a sparsely populated area in central Kansas. They were also reported to the south in parts of Oklahoma and Iowa. Lightning bolts lit up the sky as the storm moved through. A National Weather Service advisory warned: ´You could be killed if not underground or in a tornado shelter.´ ´Complete destruction of neighborhoods, businesses and vehicles will occur. What did President Obama do on the evening of 9/11/12 when our men were under attack in Benghazi? The invaluable Andrew McCarthy reminds us that Obama and Secretary Clinton had a 10:00 p.m. phone call of which many (including, I think, Chris Wallace) have lost sight. This morning when Wallace asked Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer what Obama was up to that evening, Pfeiffer declared the line of inquiry “offensive.” Translation: Obama and his minions would prefer to “move on” and are warning the likes of FNC off:(Snip for video)The Weekly Standard’s Daniel Halper has posted the rush transcript

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

A senior adviser to President Obama mounted a combative defense of the administration on Sunday, saying the controversies enveloping the White House were the result of Republican lawmakers’ trying to “drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped-up hearings and false allegations.”The remarks came from Dan Pfeiffer, a member of the president’s inner circle, as he appeared on all five major Sunday morning talk shows in an effort to move the administration past what commentators have described as a “hell week” of controversy and missteps.

Stuart Varney said this morning on "Varney & Co." that one of his producers was given a questionnaire with some surprisingly intrusive questions on it when he switched doctors. One of the questions was whether he/she was concerned about unsecured weapons in the home. Another asked whether he/she was "in a relationship in which you have been physically hurt or are you afraid of your partner?" Judge Andrew Napolitano explained that the question about guns comes out of a post-Sandy Hook executive order by President Obama, but it will be required under Obamacare.
