About That ´Permanent
Democratic Majority´

Wall Street Journal, by Karl Rove

Original Article

Many are arguing these days that President Obama has forged a new majority coalition of women, minorities, young people and upscale cultural liberals so large and durable that he can do what no president has done before—pursue a very liberal agenda without serious opposition or defections from his own party. Demography is destiny, this argument holds, and it is irrevocably on the side of Mr. Obama and the Democratic Party. (Snip)Start with the obvious: If demographics were determinative, then Republicans shouldn´t have gained 63 seats in the House of Representatives in 2010—the largest midterm shift since 1938—while also

Yeah yeah. Both "parties" are looking too similar to me, only interested in their own power. The people need a voice.

Does anyone really take Rove seriously anymore?

The dems would be a permanent minority if they stopped illegal immigration, had a national ID voters card and lazy white suburbanites would get off their ass and vote.

We have to completely negate the media /punditry created belief that your vote only matters if you live in Ohio. If I had a dollar for every time I heard ´´it all comes down to Ohio´´.... How many voters stayed home because their local races were boring and they´d been told by their betters their vote for POTUS wouldn´t make a difference?

Local GOP has made big strides in blue States. If you don´t bother to ask for people´s votes you surely won´t get them. We have fifty States. Make your case in every one.

Plus the vote, er, enhancers can focus like laser beam on a state or two.

Every time a party wins the White House for a second term, there are tons of articles about the long-term impeding doom of the opposition party. I´ve been reading them since I was a high school kid in 1972 and 1973.

And guess what? The other party comes back, maybe because the new "kings" over-reach, they screw up the economy one more time, or whatever. Admittedly, the Democrats have a few more opportunities to blame the Republicans because the refs (media) are in the RAT´s pocket -- and currently I´m not sure it´s a back pocket, but let´s move on.

The GOP -- or a new conservative party if the GOP elite doesn´t realize there is a change in tactics, especially by the RAT media and academia -- will rise again. And I think the 2014 midterms and the 2016 presidential race could be the proof.

That bulbous, balloon head of Rove´s is so full of methane gas that it can blow any moment. I can´t stand this blabber mouth. I´ve put him into the same category with Peggy Noonan - the category of not worth reading or listening to any longer.
Shut up Karl and just go away. (The only other Karl that I know of that spelled his name with a K was Karl Marx.)

Well, it´s settled, then. Listen to Rove, stick with the GOP, amnesty some illegals, and stand by for the dawning of the next era of establishment Republican Party opportunism.

Karl Rove needs to rearrange his deck chair over to the side with the iceberg.

Reply 11 - Posted by: PoliticalJunky, 1/31/2013 8:37:14 AM     (No. 9150079)

We need to learn to tolerate people who do not think exactly as we do. Do we have so many Republicans in our party that we can start urging people to get lost?

It used to be Boehner who was asked to get lost, now many are praising him. The same could happen with Rove. Someday he will do something you approve of.

Rove, How did your backing of RINOs work for you in the 2012 Election-----being a liberal Republican wasn´t exactly a pathway to election. I believe you are irrelevant and your endorsement wasn´t worth ´snot´.
Did I hear your comment correctly when you said this about Gov. Palin-----who was the boot strap holder of the 3 new Senators elected to Congress in 2012. Yep, one was Ted Cruz who put your pretty boy "go along to get along RINO" Dewhurst in the back seat, right?

Personally, the only guy that makes me happy lately is the new Congressman from Texas. Cruz is the only guy I´ve heard stand up for what he said and refuse to apologize for having an opinion outside what the press considers proper. I don´t care what any others say right now. I only want to hear a man who means what he says and is truly Conservative.

Let´s see:

We don´t like Karl Rove.
Mrs. Palin is stupid.
Rick Perry is on drugs.
Chris Christie is fat.
Newt is over.
No more Bush.
Haley Barbour talks funny.
McCain is a RINO.
Lindsay Graham is a RINO.
Heck, anybody I disagree with is a RINO...

The hard fact is that there are a lot of people who want to get their hands on taxpayer funds. The Dims are by far the worst culprits.

When the majority focuses on what these kind of people are doing with the public money there may be a restoration of sanity.

The Republicans have a "messaging" problem within their own party. That´s why so many "Republicans" stayed home and let BO win a second term. Personally I don´t get it, the worst Republican was far better than BO but they did it anyway. So what´s up with that? Are some demanding absolute compliance with hard lined Conservatism? Good luck with that. You will never win an election or have an effective voice. Issues like immigration are not going to be concluded by kicking all illegals out of the Country. Not going to happen. I would love to see Social Security become a private account but I doubt I will ever see it. Maybe the IRA system could be enhanced. But I know I have to "settle" for less than my desires. So what can we "live with" and what "must" get done?

Reply 19 - Posted by: MissMolly, 1/31/2013 11:01:50 AM     (No. 9150433)

#18, I agree you, but you may not have been here when some of the loudest posters were telling us that any Democrat is better than a "RINO", thus the cheering when Republican senators were defeated at the polls by the ones with a D behind the name. There was even cheering for Granny Warren over our own Scott Brown, because Brown didn´t fit the template. I will never comprehend the logic of preferring any Democrat over a Republican incumbent. The numbers matter. Obviously, I wasn´t a fan of some of the R´s, either, but there´s no way I´m cheering for a Democrat to defeat one of our own.

I keep hearing about the millions of conservatives that stayed home and didn´t vote. Can someone prove that? I never heard a word about Romney being a Mormon or that anyone wouldn´t vote for him. Early on I heard he was not a true conservative but if he were the candidate, they would vote for him. If someone was truly a conservative, I can´t believe they didn´t go to the polls and vote for Romney because even if he had 3 eyes, he would have been better than the other guy. If that many conservatives did truly not vote, then I guess we deserve what we got. But I´d like to see proof. Saying it doesn´t make it so.

Reply 22 - Posted by: lil dotty, 1/31/2013 2:52:08 PM     (No. 9150917)

True Conservatives are tired of being sucked in. We find ourselves unable to trust either party. Both lie to us, both think more highly of themselves than they do of our Country. That is what angers us and that is we seem to be eating our own at times. Our own have become too much like d´rats. All Conservatves ask is that we nominate a True Conservative, we stand behind that person as a group and we work to elect that person. IF the GOP were to find that Right person, then and only then would there be no problem. No degree needed to figure that out.

The Democrats´ lost decade?

Democrats fell far short of winning the House in 2012, an otherwise banner year for the party, and many are privately glum about taking back the chamber in 2014. But that grim immediate outlook raises a far more troubling longer-term prospect for Democrats: that the newly drawn congressional lines have tilted the electoral playing field so decisively in the GOP’s favor that the party could control the House through 2020. That this, in other words, could be the Democrats’ Lost Decade. Three of the past four elections have produced partisan upheaval, so political forecasting must be approached with caution.

Men´s Wearhouse no longer likes the way George Zimmer looks. Zimmer, the founder, chairman and the public face of the discount apparel chain, has been terminated by the company, according to a brief statement from the company. Men´s Wearhouse gave no reason for Zimmer´s departure -- which surfaced on Wednesday, just hours before the company postponed its annual shareholders meeting. A company spokesman declined comment but said Zimmer´s departure would not affect operations.

Obama to Charlie Rose, yesterday: I’ve stood up a privacy and civil liberties oversight board made up of independent citizens, including some fierce civil libertarians. I’ll be meeting with them and what I want to do is to set up and structure a national conversation not only about these two programs but also about the general problem of these big data sets because this is not going to be restricted to government entities. The board Obama is referring to was created in 2004. Nominations and confirmation delays prevented the board from being particularly effective,

Obama never fails to enlist children in his secularist crusades, whether at home or abroad. Last week he trotted out two nine-year-old girls to introduce him at a White House event celebrating “LGBT Pride Month.” “We could not be prouder of Zea and Luna for the introduction,” he said. “Zea and Luna are here with their moms, and also I think with Grandma and Grandpa — correct? And so feel free to congratulate them afterwards for their outstanding introduction.” Zea and Luna proved useful to Obama not only as props for LGBT rights but also as mouthpieces for his gun-control agenda:

With dozens of Democratic lawmakers struggling to live on a food stamp budget to protest GOP cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, a Republican staffer says he is living on a SNAP budget without problems. Texas Republican Rep. Steve Stockman’s communications director and agriculture policy advisor, Donny Ferguson, says he has been able to eat well on $27.58 for a week, less than the $31.50 House Democrats have limited themselves to for their “SNAP Challenge.” “I wanted to personally experience the effects of the proposed cuts to food stamps. The ongoing saga of Edward Snowden has at least been moving in the right direction for President Obama. Snowden may once have tried to position himself as a whistleblower, but he has since devolved into ingratiating himself with authoritarian regimes by plying them with American national security secrets. While Pete is correct that the NSA story seems to be hurting voters’ opinion of Obama’s trustworthiness, Americans are by now realizing that they would be foolish to go the other extreme and place that trust in Snowden. It is also (understandably) distracting the public’s attention from the scandals that preceded it,

In two contexts the Obama administration has revealed its complete confusion about high-stakes negotiations and the interrelation of soft and hard power. In Syria, after dragging his feet for two years, trying to fudge over his own “red line” and coming up with a half-hearted move to give small arms to the rebels, President Obama discovers that he can’t budge Russia, which has backed Bashar al-Assad to the hilt. The Post reports that at the Group of 8 summit: Obama has demanded that Assad relinquish power as part of any negotiated peace settlement, a condition Putin rejects.

A group of whistleblowers, including a number of aviation experts, have come forward in a new documentary to claim that the official explanation for the crash of TWA Flight 800 was wrong and a gas tank explosion did not bring down the flight off the coast of Long Island 17 years ago. However, the six whistleblowers, all part of the original investigation team, stopped short of saying the plane was shot down. Flight 800, a Boeing 747, had just taken off from JFK airport with 230 people aboard on July 17, 1996 enroute to Paris when it exploded

They were needed in Benghazi,” said DiGenova, a former U.S. attorney, now with the Washington firm of DiGenova & Toensing.

Amid a steady rise of backlash, Edward Snowden, the 29-year-old former National Security Agency contractor who was the source of a spring of leaks about the agency´s surveillance methods, conducted a live chat on The Guardian´s website Monday morning. Judging from some of the pointed questions he´s been asked and the reaction to newly leaked revelations over the past few days, it´s clear that much of the sympathy and support Snowden had built up for his early exposures is eroding. Many Americans supported his decision to leak information about a pair of National Security Agency surveillance programs, which, he detailed, gathered information

Listening to Barack Obama give his speech in Belfast on Monday, it was hard not to stifle a yawn. I kept waiting for the part when he would say something interesting, but, about three quarters of the way through, realised it wasn’t going to come. Judging from television pictures some of his young audience felt the same, after the initial rush of euphoria of receiving the rock star president in their midst had passed. Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.

Marco Rubio. Paul Ryan. The IRS. Illegal immigration. And fraud to the tune of billions.. Now there’s a combustible mix. Let’s start with the IRS, illegal immigration and fraud. We’ll come back in a minute to Senator Rubio and Congressman Ryan. For those who came in late, a year before the IRS scandals burst onto the scene in early May of 2013, an alert investigative reporter for WTHR-Indianapolis (Channel 13), Bob Segall by name, produced a stunning piece of journalism. Segall’s video report is found here and we will quote from his story for the basics.
