| With outrage over his daughter´s death spreading from City Hall to the White House, Nathaniel Pendleton made a public plea Wednesday for someone to step forward and bring the 15-year-old´s killer to justice. "They took the light of my life," Pendleton said at a news conference, where a $11,000 reward was announced for information about Tuesday´s slaying of Hadiya Pendleton. "This guy, whoever he was, the gunman, man, you took the light of my life. Just look at yourself and just know that you took a bright person, an innocent person, a non-violent person."

Maybe she´d be alive today if Holder allowed gun crimes to be classified as federal felonies... with Mandatory Sentences!
93% of gun criminals in Chicago walk free! Who is Holder protecting besides killers? Lawyers?

Reading this I see that this young lady had an intact loving family. She was aspiring to go to Paris, University, and seems to be a person who had her head on straight. I bet the shooter came from a fatherless family, dropped out, or was not performing well in school. My heart goes out to her family. I hope Obama does what´s right and finally speaks out about the violence in Chicago. Remember, a gun did not kill her, a wild animal did,

I want the shooter and gun traced... How was gun obtained? Legal methods? Full automatic weapon? Random act or retrobution?
Very sad for this family... Rising star able to escape the cycle of welfare mentality cut short in life.
Why doesnt Obama send his girls to a public school in DC?

A lovely young woman was stolen from all of us. The article is correct: someone knows something.
The gang mentality of ´´don´t talk to the cops´´ contributes to this tragedy.

It´s not the judges, lawyers or social workers that are the problem. It´s the fact that prosecutors can´t prosecute criminals without witnesses. When the witnesses know they will be killed for coming forward there are no witnesses. It´s happening in every major crime city in the country.
The thugs have taken over. Police can´t do anything despite their best efforts.
Sympathies to the family.

A group of students from a nearby school were under a canopy in a park as it was raining. Someone jumped over the fence and began shooting.
Everyone ran. This young girl was shot in the back and died at the hospital. Another youngster was shot but survived.
Sadly, no one is talking. Not a single person is willing to come forward.
This is Obama´s home town. Rahm time in the city of Chicago.

#9, try reading the article before blaming the girl herself. Hanging with gangbangers? Where did you get that? She was with her volleyball team after practice at King College Prep, her school. On her way home to her family. Why assume she was doing something bad when you didn´t even read the article? The shooter jumped a fence and started shooting at these kids.

Øbama and his slave media must be having a Homer Moment over this - "Doh!" It forces them to acknowledge the vicious black-on-black gun violence they have so far very effectively ignored. Take the black-on-black gun murders out of the equation, the US falls to the equivalent of Sweden in gun violence per capita!
Waddaya wanna bet? Øbama pays very short lip service to this one- and the media will give it a day in the spotlight and then slink away.

She was shot in the back.
Someone ought to at least get here and give these thugs some lessons on hitting their intended targets. If they´d only kill each other...so be it.
BUT...they seem to hit babies sleeping in their beds, children walking home from school, elderly neighbors and honor students.
Tamara Hall said on Hannity yesterday that it was gangbangers shooting gangbangers. Maybe she should watch the opening story EVERY night on our local 10PM newscasts.

Snitches get stitches. Until the black community comes to its senses and works hand-in-hand with law enforcement, nothing will change. They´d rather have baby-faced gangbangers walking the streets than help put them in prison where they belong. As tragic as it is, they have their own culture to blame.

I hold "twinkle toes" Rahm Emanuel responsible for this gun carnage in Chicago. Rahm is a crazy liberal who thinks that banning guns will get guns off the streets. Chicago is basically a gun-free zone thanks to crazy Liberals like Rahm, so only criminals have guns and commit daily atrocities like this.

WASHINGTON There´s an irony in the Internal Revenue Service´s crackdown on conservative groups. The nation´s tax agency has admitted to inappropriately scrutinizing smaller tea party organizations that applied for tax-exempt status. But the IRS largely maintained a hands-off policy with the much larger, big-budget organizations on the left and right that were most influential in the 2012 elections and are organized under a section of the tax code that allows them to hide their donors. "The IRS goes AWOL when wealthy and powerful forces want to break the law in order to hide their

Two Congressmen are asking the Treasury Department if it inappropriately scrutinized conservative-owned businesses the same way it targeted Tea Party groups filing for tax-exempt status. Republicans Mike Kelly (PA-03) and Jim Renacci (OH-16) circulated a letter Thursday requesting Treasury Secretary Jack Lew to release documents detailing the process and methodology the Automotive Task Force used to shut down General Motors dealerships in 2009 during the automotive industry crisis. Renacci´s Northeast Ohio Chevrolet dealership was closed in 2010 after losing a battle with General Motors. Congress loaned General Motors $50 billion in 2009 after GM declared bankruptcy, which resulted

SAN JOSE— For most Americans in the United States, Armed Forces Day is not on the lists of likely holidays to honor the country’s military in celebrations of Memorial Day or Veteran’s Day. Sadly, most Americans may not even realize that Armed Forces Day is even a legitimate holiday. Armed Forces Day was established to be celebrated on the third Saturday in May. It started during Harry Truman’s administration when he led an effort to consolidate the various holidays supporting each separate branch of the military into a simple unified holiday to honor the four branches together.

Dorothy, the 14-year-old peregrine falcon that since 2002 has nested on a 40th-floor ledge of the Cathedral of Learning in Oakland, was perched on the limestone railing next to that nest and her lone chick shortly before 9 a.m. Friday. She´d just fed the 22-day-old chick a small bird for breakfast. "Baltimore oriole ... again," said Kate St. John, who blogs about the city´s peregrines. Someone else watching from the office inside the window next to the nest said it looked like Dorothy was calmly "chilling." Ms. St. John´s response was that nothing could be further from the truth.

WASHINGTON — An Internal Revenue Service watchdog testified Friday that he told Obama administration officials in June that he was looking into allegations the IRS targeted conservative groups for extra scrutiny when they applied for tax-exempt status. The revelation by Inspector General Russell George came at the first congressional hearing on the IRS misconduct, which has generated a political firestorm since it was disclosed a week ago. George’s testimony represented the first evidence that officials in the Obama administration knew of the allegations as long as a year ago, during the presidential campaign.

Obama administration officials who were in key positions on Sept. 11, 2012, acknowledge that a range of mistakes were made the night of the attacks on the U.S. missions in Benghazi, and in messaging to Congress and the public in the aftermath. The officials spoke to CBS News in a series of interviews and communications under the condition of anonymity so that they could be more frank in their assessments. They do not all agree on the list of mistakes and it's important to note that they universally claim that any errors or missteps did not cost lives and reflect "incompetence rather than malice or cover up.

In the wake of one of the worst abuses of government power in recent history, many are rushing to frame the Internal Revenue Service scandal as simply an attack on conservative activists. That view risks creating a partisan political football and misses a fundamentally scarier abuse that exceeds the scandals of Watergate or any other prior government abuse. The IRS has admitted that since May 2010 it targeted grassroots-conservative organizations that had applied for tax-exempt status, unfairly subjecting them to rigorous scrutiny due to their political leanings. Such groups were told they were required to comply with IRS requests,

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.

The Internal Revenue Service´s watchdog told top Treasury officials around June 2012 he was investigating allegations the tax agency had targeted conservative groups, for the first time indicating that Obama administration officials were aware of the explosive matter in the midst of the president´s re-election campaign. The disclosure to the Treasury general counsel and the deputy secretary was a cursory one, according to J. Russell George, the Treasury inspector general for tax administration. The lawmaker leading the charge to investigate the Benghazi terror attack on Friday subpoenaed the co-author of a report that slammed the State Department but didn´t interview Hillary Clinton. House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) formally demanded that retired ambassador Thomas Pickering submit to being deposed by the committee next Thursday. The subpoena comes in the wake of a series of acrimonious public exchanges this week between the two men. Issa didn´t issue a subpoena to former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Michael Mullen, who co-authored the Benghazi report with Pickering.
