| Washington - The tough new gun restrictions pushed by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo may have caused a hit to his approval rating, according to a poll released Wednesday, though the Democrat still remains popular with voters in the Empire State. The Quinnipiac University survey indicated that 59% of New York voters approve of the job Cuomo is doing as governor, down from a 74% approval rating in a poll released last month. Republican approval has dropped sharply, from 68% in mid-December to 44% in Wednesday´s poll. But even support among Democrats was down somewhat,

New Yorkers aren´t pleased and compliance with his inane law will be extremely low. Even the New York State Sheriffs´ Association is displeased with this law and has written to Cuomo telling him they won´t confiscate anything and don´t expect this law is enforceable.
Cuomo is a posturing demagogue positioning himself as a candidate for 2016. He knows full-well his new law won´t do squat to curb gun violence in the state and he knows full-well there are no consequences to him or the legislators who endorsed the law when its stated purpose doesn´t get met.

Even that 59% approval rating is fake. Cuomo is advertising that his new budget does not increase taxes. What he doesn´t say is that there is no increase in state taxes because he pushed all of it down to the counties.

The lawmaker leading the charge to investigate the Benghazi terror attack on Friday subpoenaed the co-author of a report that slammed the State Department but didn´t interview Hillary Clinton. House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) formally demanded that retired ambassador Thomas Pickering submit to being deposed by the committee next Thursday. The subpoena comes in the wake of a series of acrimonious public exchanges this week between the two men. Issa didn´t issue a subpoena to former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Michael Mullen, who co-authored the Benghazi report with Pickering.
