| My favorite reading genre is the mystery novel and I´m a fan of Ian Rankin´s work which chronicles Inspector John Rebus´ cases in Edinburgh, Scotland. The book I´m reading now, "The Naming of the Dead" was written about the 2005 G8 conference that took place in the Gleneagles Hotel in Aucterarder, Scotland. Rankin describes the arrival of the hundreds of thousands of marchers and protesters holding signs that read "Make Poverty History" and I always marvel at how so many people who have never known poverty think politicians can end it.

All these `wars` should be redefined as the War on the Taxpayer.
These phony wars are no different than govn` stimulus` packages. Billions spent with nothing to show for it.

FTA: "The reason is not societal but rather parental neglect and dysfunction due to domestic violence, alcohol or drug abuse."
I believe in its simplest forms, these are these reasons why whole blocks of youths and generations within our country are failing. Which is odd, since we are now in a techie world.
0bama was correct "there" if he wants to offer third world countries "shovel ready" jobs, and not the type for burying their disease ridden sick. These countries need to develop their food industries, while building cities and towns comparable to what is seen now in the 21-Century. Along with that, education and jobs to use it. It goes without saying that their governments must be able to turn their weapons into plowshares. This will be difficult as Al Qaeda continues to subvert man´s freedom brutally worldwide.

Yeah, but what created that "parental neglect, etc."?? The Democrat Party policies that gave emphasis on providing free money to women who popped babies out like a factory as long as she kicks the man out of the house... The perpetual poverty machine itself--the welfare system.

The war on poverty has failed because it has been fought with free money and white guilt.
The war needs to be fought with education and accountability. That is done not with more education spending but by slashing Cash for Flunkers. A diploma should be required for full benefits.

WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. Inspector General Russell George said he informed a deputy at the Treasury Department in June of 2012 about the probe into the IRS. The Treasury Department confirmed the timeline but said they did not know the details of the investigation until last week.(Snip)Marcus Owens ran the tax-exempt division at the IRS for 10 years. He said it isn´t difficult to figure out who´s doing what at the agency.

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice."
