Girl who performed at Obama
inaugural events slain on South Side

Chicago Tribune [IL], by Jennifer Delgado & Liam Ford

After taking their exams Tuesday, Hadiya Pendleton and a group of others decided to hang out at a park on Tuesday just blocks away from their high school on the South Side. But the trip ended in tragedy when the 15-year-old King College Prep sophomore was fatally shot about a week after she attended President Barack Obama’s inauguration and performed at inaugural events with the King College Prep band and drill team. (Snip) Most of those who were in the park were gang members, and those in the group did not stay on scene to help after the shootings, according to police. The shooting occurred

Comments:
Rush was just talking about this tragedy. While the Hill is having hearings on our 2nd Amendment rights, they fail to see the forrest from the trees. And worst of all, as shown on our website, the black on black murders are done with guns in 0bama & Emanual´s backyard. Guess they never heard of "Doctor, heal thyself."

"Fast & Furious 1 & 2," anyone?

That she was shot and killed IS the story. Who cares whether she performed or not?

But..guns are outlawed in Chicago.

So this could not happen, according to Feinstein, Obambi et al.

#1 - Yes! This absolutely infuriates me. The whole press is ONLY even covering this as a headline because dear leader is involved in the story. So the other black children murdered daily in Chicago are chopped liver? Guess so.

But the truth is that she hung around with a bunch of gang-bangers all the time as she was doing at the time of the killing!!!!

Where was one of the parents of this girl???

Another tragic killing. So many parents in Chicago have to live with so much pain. When is the mayor going to take back the streets? When is he going to protect the children?

FTA: Those in the group were not cooperating with police, however, and investigators had no detailed descriptions yet of either the attacker or the vehicle in which he left.

As long as the ´no snitch´ mindset continues, teenage girls will get gunned down on a Tuesday afternoon in a park.

Why does the city allow a gang to claim a public park?

It´s The Sentencing, Stupid! 93% walk! Time for making gun crimes a Federal Felony with Mandatory Sentences.

Are Dems protecting atty fees over black youth lives???

#4--this happened at 2:20 in the afternoon, after school got out early. It was pouring rain yesterday and other reports say that she and other students went there for shelter. I really don´t think they were just "hanging out" in the rain. She was a student at a selective enrollment, college prep high school and the neighborhood is not that far from the big O´s house. Her parents were probably at work. This is a tragedy caused by the failure of the City--and the black leadership, I might add-- to crack down on gang violence.

Aw, could this be true? Didn´t the God Father Emmanuel ban guns from Chicago citizens? The article writer sure should check his facts.

Now, on to other, more truthful news. . . (sc/off)

This is on Rahm Emanuel. He has the means to clean up Chicago just like Guiliani did in NYC. Rahm is either a chicken or incompetent. Bring in Chiefs Bratton and Kelly and this city will solve its problems. Failing that Chicago will continue to be a cesspool of gun violence.

Reply 14 - Posted by: bighambone, 1/30/2013 2:48:56 PM     (No. 9148912)

This appears to be a gang related criminal murder. If Obama is successful in banning just about all modern firearms produced and sold in the USA, today the criminal gangs will still have their firearms and law abiding people will no longer be able to purchase and possess modern firearms. Right now the gangs are restricted to areas where they know law abiding people do not have firearms to protect themselves. Once firearms are banned for law abiding people, there will be nothing to keep those armed criminal gangs from roving far and wide across the country, attacking unarmed law abiding people whenever they wish.

And the real lesson of this?

Don´t invite any school bands from Chicago to your inauguration. An inconvenient story might pop up soon after.

Washington - A key committee in the Republican-led House has taken up a tough enforcement-focused immigration bill, but the proceedings were immediately interrupted by protesters shouting "Shame, shame!" More than a dozen protesters began chanting as soon as Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte of Virginia gaveled the committee hearing open Tuesday. Goodlatte stopped the proceedings until the protesters were ushered into the hall, where their shouts could still be heard. Goodlatte said the bill under consideration, which empowers local law enforcement to enforce federal immigration

It’s been two years since NASA’s space shuttle program came to an end, but thousands of Americans still dream of becoming astronauts. Eight of them – four men and four women – were introduced Monday as NASA’s astronaut candidate class for 2013. (Snip) The bios of the eight people selected will probably make you feel like a bit of a slacker. Two of them have PhDs and one is a physician training in sports medicine. Four have experience as test pilots for the Navy or Air Force. One person is working at the Pentagon on ways to defeat the homemade bombs that have plagued troops in Iraq and

Washington - After Republicans lost the presidential election and seats in both the House and the Senate last year, many in the party offered a stern admonishment: If we want to broaden our appeal, steer clear of divisive social and cultural issues. Yet after the high-profile murder trial of an abortion doctor in Philadelphia this spring, many Republicans in Washington and in state capitals across the country seem eager to reopen the emotional fight over a woman’s right to end a pregnancy. (Snip) The bill stands no chance of becoming law, with Democrats in control of the Senate and the White House.

Tehran - President-elect Hassan Rowhani of Iran, speaking Monday for the first time since his election victory, said he wanted to reduce tensions with the United States but ruled out direct talks between the two estranged nations. In his first news conference after winning Friday’s presidential election promising more freedoms and better relations with the outside world, Mr. Rowhani called the issue of nonexistent relations between Iran and the United States “an old wound, which must be healed.” Iran, he said, wants to reduce tensions between the two countries, which have no diplomatic relations and are

Washington - Pharmaceutical companies that pay rivals to keep less-expensive generic versions of best-selling drugs off the market can expect greater federal scrutiny after a Supreme Court ruling on Monday. In a 5-to-3 vote, the justices effectively said that the Federal Trade Commission can sue pharmaceutical companies for potential antitrust violations, a decision that is likely to increase the number of generic drugs in the marketplace and benefit consumers. Specifically, the justices threw out lower-court rulings that said the agreements were legal, provided that a deal did not keep a generic

President Barack Obama and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, put their escalating differences over Syria on display even as they agreed to urge both sides in the civil war there to the negotiating table. A group of whistleblowers, including a number of aviation experts, have come forward in a new documentary to claim that the official explanation for the crash of TWA Flight 800 was wrong and a gas tank explosion did not bring down the flight off the coast of Long Island 17 years ago. However, the six whistleblowers, all part of the original investigation team, stopped short of saying the plane was shot down. Flight 800, a Boeing 747, had just taken off from JFK airport with 230 people aboard on July 17, 1996 enroute to Paris when it exploded

An attorney whose firm represents two Benghazi whistleblowers said Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, lied to the Senate when he said there was never a “stand down” order during the Benghazi attack on Sept. 11, 2012. “What was fascinating is that he explained his lie to them,” Joe DiGenova, an attorney representing one of the whistleblowers, told CNSNews.com. “He actually said they were sent to Tripoli. They were needed in Benghazi,” said DiGenova, a former U.S. attorney, now with the Washington firm of DiGenova & Toensing.

Amid a steady rise of backlash, Edward Snowden, the 29-year-old former National Security Agency contractor who was the source of a spring of leaks about the agency´s surveillance methods, conducted a live chat on The Guardian´s website Monday morning. Judging from some of the pointed questions he´s been asked and the reaction to newly leaked revelations over the past few days, it´s clear that much of the sympathy and support Snowden had built up for his early exposures is eroding. Many Americans supported his decision to leak information about a pair of National Security Agency surveillance programs, which, he detailed, gathered information

Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.

Marco Rubio. Paul Ryan. The IRS. Illegal immigration. And fraud to the tune of billions.. Now there’s a combustible mix. Let’s start with the IRS, illegal immigration and fraud. We’ll come back in a minute to Senator Rubio and Congressman Ryan. For those who came in late, a year before the IRS scandals burst onto the scene in early May of 2013, an alert investigative reporter for WTHR-Indianapolis (Channel 13), Bob Segall by name, produced a stunning piece of journalism. Segall’s video report is found here and we will quote from his story for the basics.

The Obamas never miss an opportunity to mingle with the stars and during a two-day trip in Dublin, who better to have lunch with than iconic Irish rocker and philanthropist Bono? First Lady Michelle along with daughters Malia, 14, and Sasha, 11, started Tuesday with an hour-long visit to picturesque Glendalough in the Wicklow Mountains--but the two girls looked like they would have rather slept in at their luxury hotel. Glendalough is famous for its Medieval monastic settlement founded in the 6th century by St Kevin, the hermit priest.
