| A report from the Social Security Administration Inspector General (IG) found 4,317 instances where a non-citizen was able to obtain two Social Security numbers, including 542 instances that happened since 2001. “We identified 4,317 instances where the Numident record of 2 SSNs assigned to noncitizens contained matching first, middle, and last names; dates and places of birth; gender; and fathers’ and mothers’ names,” the IG reported on Dec. 10, 2012. Numident – which stands for Numerical Identification System – is the master file of applications for social security numbers.

Comments: And how did a certain young man born in 1961 get issued the SSAN of a long dead man born in 1892?

Best friend was an english professor at a community college, and as foreign student advisor, wound up in contact with lots of illegals. And he told me that nearly every illegal he knew, had at least two complete separate identities with false credentials. (ss, driver´s license, and the like)

Social Security is another Socialist gift that just keeps on giving. The only way to cheat on a grand scale is through such organization, or at least an accepted implication thereof.

Clean up this and other abuses. Biometric, database corroborated, Constitutionally safeguarded National ID. A SS number is a poor, unverified, unprotected substitute.

Is there anyone who still believes that illegals are interested in conseervative values? It´s a grab at the free stuff..what is ironic is that they will push the blacks out of the way to get the free stuff. Soon they will greatly outnumber the blacks.

In any other time in history, people responsible for such underhanded subversion against their nation would be executed.

With one SS office responsible for so many "mistakes," they´re probably not mistakes at all. There ought to be follow up to find out how it happened. But that would require a level of integrity few of our politicians possess.

Say you are a legal immigrant who has been issued a social security card and number. One day your foreign born brother shows up at your home and tells you they he just sneaked into the USA, is here illegally, and needs a social security card and number to get a job in the USA. So you pay a visit to the social security office, claim that you lost your social security card and request that another card be issued to you. A few days later the replacement social security card arrives in the mail. You give the replacement card to your brother and he assumes your identity and gets a job. That happens many times each year and is one of the reasons why so many illegal aliens have little problem getting a job.
Say you and her spouse are illegal aliens and you have a child born in the USA. A few weeks after the child is born a new social security card and number arrives in the mail. If your name happens to be Jesus Garcia and your child´s name is also Jesus Garcia you can just take the child´s social security card and number and use it to obtain employment. If the employer runs an e-verify check, the social security number will come back as a valid number. No further questions asked. That happens all the time.
If they grant what amounts to amnesty for 11 to 20 million illegal aliens, they will also be creating a new massive support base for a new wave of illegal aliens who are sure to come here, encouraged by the amnesty, and all the social welfare and "free" health care services that the legalized alien population will be receiving.

But I just heard Rubio say they don´t want to stay - they just want to come, work, and leave - they don´t want benefits, etc.

Raise your hand if your first thought after reading the headline was Zippy.
I was in a SS office waiting room several years ago while a big family was at two separate windows telling the tale of woe about moving from another state and all of them losing their SS cards. Running from the law ?

KEENE - The city has filed a lawsuit against six citizens, part of a group dubbed Robin Hood of Keene that patrols downtown armed with video cameras and pockets full of change to fill expired parking meters. Also known as Robin Hooders, the six are associated with the Free Keene group. "They say video recording or talking to them is harassing them, but I don´t agree with that," "Robin Hooder" James Cleaveland said of parking enforcement officers. "So they want to establish a safety zone of fifty feet." Members of the group place cards under windshield wipers

An authoritative new poll of more than 15,000 cops released on the eve of this week´s Senate anti-gun debate shows that a sweeping majority of officers don´t believe gun control will work or keep them safer, and nearly nine in 10 believe having more armed citizens would curb gun violence. According to the lengthy survey of law enforcement professionals, one of the largest ever of street cops, 85 percent believe that President Obama´s gun control plan to ban assault weapons, limit the size of ammo magazines and expand background checks won´t improve their safety

The deputy Prime Minister said it risked "undermining public confidence" to let illegal immigrants stay if they have been in the country for more than 10 years. In his first major speech on immigration, he abandoned the controversial proposal, which was championed by the Liberal Democrats at the last election. Mr Clegg previously supported the idea of "earned citizenship" for illegal immigrants. (snip) "Despite the policy´s aims, it was seen by many people as a reward for those who have broken the law," he said.

NEW YORK - A long-forgotten piece of America´s military history is going up for sale. The original smaller statue of the iconic raising of the U.S. flag at Iwo Jima in 1945 is expected to fetch up to $1.8 million later this month at a New York auction dedicated to World War II artifacts. That such a statue even exists is news to all but the most ardent history buffs. Most Americans are familiar with the 32-foot-tall Marine Corps War Memorial in Arlington, Va. (snip) Less well-known is the 12 1/2-foot-tall statue created soon after the event.

Boston Scientific is cutting up to 1,000 more jobs as it deals with a new medical device tax from the U.S. health care overhaul, limited growth prospects in certain markets and pressure to cut prices on its products in other countries. Still, the Natick, Mass., company´s shares jumped Tuesday after the maker of pacemakers and heart stents reported fourth-quarter results and a 2013 profit forecast that exceeded Wall Street expectations. In a push to trim costs, Boston Scientific Corp. plans to cut 900 to 1,000 jobs this year, which will include layoffs as well as the elimination

Obama administration officials who were in key positions on Sept. 11, 2012, acknowledge that a range of mistakes were made the night of the attacks on the U.S. missions in Benghazi, and in messaging to Congress and the public in the aftermath. The officials spoke to CBS News in a series of interviews and communications under the condition of anonymity so that they could be more frank in their assessments. They do not all agree on the list of mistakes and it's important to note that they universally claim that any errors or missteps did not cost lives and reflect "incompetence rather than malice or cover up.

Watching President Obama trying to dodge raindrops and responsibility yesterday reminded me of the moment when Dorothy pulls back the curtain and discovers that the Wizard of Oz is “just a man.” Stripped of his spell of mystery and power, the wizard is worse than mortal. He’s a fake. So it was with Obama in the Rose Garden. His performance was tired and trite, ordinary to the point of dull. His veneer of passion was so transparent that you could see him trying to summon his old-time magic by pushing the buttons

In the wake of one of the worst abuses of government power in recent history, many are rushing to frame the Internal Revenue Service scandal as simply an attack on conservative activists. That view risks creating a partisan political football and misses a fundamentally scarier abuse that exceeds the scandals of Watergate or any other prior government abuse. The IRS has admitted that since May 2010 it targeted grassroots-conservative organizations that had applied for tax-exempt status, unfairly subjecting them to rigorous scrutiny due to their political leanings. Such groups were told they were required to comply with IRS requests,

STANDING BEFORE reporters Thursday, President Obama declined an invitation to compare the recent scandals weighing down his administration with those that forced President Nixon to resign in 1974. So allow us to do the work for him: There is no comparison. Nixon, in a series of crimes that collectively came to be known as Watergate, directed from the White House and Justice Department a concerted campaign against those he perceived as political enemies, in the process subverting the FBI, the IRS, other government agencies and the electoral process to his nefarious purposes. Mr. Obama has done nothing of the kind.

The State Department, under Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton, created an arrangement for her longtime aide and confidante Huma Abedin to work for private clients as a consultant while serving as a top adviser in the department. Ms. Abedin did not disclose the arrangement — or how much income she earned — on her financial report. It requires officials to make public any significant sources of income. An adviser to Mrs. Clinton, Philippe Reines, said that Ms. Abedin was not obligated to do so. The disclosure of the agreement that Ms. Abedin made with the State Department comes as her husband,

The Internal Revenue Service´s watchdog told top Treasury officials around June 2012 he was investigating allegations the tax agency had targeted conservative groups, for the first time indicating that Obama administration officials were aware of the explosive matter in the midst of the president´s re-election campaign. The disclosure to the Treasury general counsel and the deputy secretary was a cursory one, according to J. Russell George, the Treasury inspector general for tax administration. He said he didn´t reveal conclusions of the probe, which was in its early stages, and his disclosure came as part

The lawmaker leading the charge to investigate the Benghazi terror attack on Friday subpoenaed the co-author of a report that slammed the State Department but didn´t interview Hillary Clinton. House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) formally demanded that retired ambassador Thomas Pickering submit to being deposed by the committee next Thursday. The subpoena comes in the wake of a series of acrimonious public exchanges this week between the two men. Issa didn´t issue a subpoena to former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Michael Mullen, who co-authored the Benghazi report with Pickering.
