The Queen loves her son as much as we other mothers love our sons. Out of respect for her, I would never think otherwise. For Queen Elizabeth, love of country and devotion to duty means she is on the throne until her death. She never considered any other path. Her family knows this. With England literally fading before our eyes, I don´t think it matters much who is on the throne after Elizabeth. Just my take..

Anti-monarchists must countenance the fact that eliminating the royalty would elevate some slimy MP to head of state for an indeterminate amount of time. Too horrible to contemplate.

The English Monarchy has been the embodyment and face of the British people since Alfred the Great in 849. The Brits can be rightfully proud of this tradition. Having said that, the Queen is a figurehead. She has no real power. The current Queen has admirably represented her people her whole life. Its a shame she has only that imbasillic twit Charles to pass the title to. I´m sure she could skip a generation and pass it on to William, but I´m sure she loves her son and would not embarrass him by doing that.

#8, HM cannot bypass Charles. It´s law, not whimsy. Charles is next in line.
I don´t know the details of the Law of Succession, as in what happens if the next-in-line is certifiably insane, but we all know what happens if he wants to marry someone who is entirely and legally unsuitable. Times have greatly changed since Edward abdicated so Camilla will not be a stumbling block to Charles succeeding his mother.

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal has delivered some harsh criticisms to President Barack Obama over recent controversies surrounding his administration in a speech. [Snip] CNN says Jindal addressed the IRS’ extra scrutiny of conservative groups applying for tax-exempt status, saying those involved in the targeting should ´go to jail´. ´Anyone who participated in this targeting of Americans for their political beliefs, anyone who knew about it, anyone who simply looked the other way, and anyone under whose watch this occurred needs to be fired,´ Jindal said, noting that ordinary citizens who fail to pay taxes could face jail time.

Citing defense ministry sources in Seoul, Yonhap said the missiles had crashed into the Sea of Japan, off the eastern coast of the Korean peninsula. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.

WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. Inspector General Russell George said he informed a deputy at the Treasury Department in June of 2012 about the probe into the IRS. The Treasury Department confirmed the timeline but said they did not know the details of the investigation until last week.(Snip)Marcus Owens ran the tax-exempt division at the IRS for 10 years. He said it isn´t difficult to figure out who´s doing what at the agency.

The lawmaker leading the charge to investigate the Benghazi terror attack on Friday subpoenaed the co-author of a report that slammed the State Department but didn´t interview Hillary Clinton. House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) formally demanded that retired ambassador Thomas Pickering submit to being deposed by the committee next Thursday. The subpoena comes in the wake of a series of acrimonious public exchanges this week between the two men. Issa didn´t issue a subpoena to former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Michael Mullen, who co-authored the Benghazi report with Pickering.
