| Senators from every other state voted to confirm John Kerry as Secretary of State. Once again, Texas stood alone. Texas Sens. John Cornyn and Ted Cruz were among the three dissenters as the Massachusetts senator (and chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee) was approved as the replacement to Hillary Clinton. The third “no” vote: Oklahoma Sen. Jim Inhofe. Needless to say, all three naysayers are Republicans. The final vote was 94 to 3.

Ok Senator Cruz. So far so good. Now stop inviting others to Texas. It would be far, far better if they´d fix their own broken state.
We already have 25 million people in this Great State. We don´t need a bunch who have no common sense.

But since its done, please do your best for this country.

Predictably Cornyn makes his usual election cycle right turn. This is his fan dance, a rare seasonal break from his usual obstruction of conservative candidates, and polishing his knee pads in which he dutifully serves the bidding of the Rove GOP Establishment, to promote their RINO candidates.

This clarifies things. We have 3 patriots in the U.S. Senate. That´s it.
This vote is emblematic of the anemic leadership of the stupid party, and yet further proof that the GOP is complicit in the progressive transformation of our country.
Tell me again about the principled Republican Party that just can´t catch a break from the mean-old-media and those hard right-wingers. I can´t wait for the excuses to explain away this pitiful performance.
The uncontested appointment of John [spit] Kerry as Secretary of State by the Republican Party is shameful, disgusting, and either rank cowardice or collusion. And this is the political party we are encouraged to support with our money and our votes? We´re supposed to waste more time emailing, letter writing, telephoning, and precinct walking for this? Give me a break.
Who is John Galt? What difference, at this point, does it make?

#1, just because you are lucky enough to be a texan doesn´t mean that the rest of us can´t aspire to be. As a Californian, I have two senators who are almost bulletproof and a state legislature that is vetoproof democrat. My vote is irrelevant thanks to gerrymandering, as the votes of The Bay Area and Los Angeles counter all other areas of the state. Why should I have to beat my head against a political wall? This will not change in my lifetime, so if she who must be obeyed ever allows it, I´m out of this state as fast as this old body can move! And you Texans are usually hospitable.

Also hoping all these unhappy ppl from other states ONLY come to Texas if they are legal citizens and cont. to be contributing citizens AND remember this is a CONSERVATIVE state......we like our guns and rights.

As a point of interest, Inhofe endorsed Ted Cruz´ Republican opponent David Dewhurst in the runoff between the two last year. Thank heaven Ted won. The entire GOP establishment went for Dewhurst so Inhofe wasn´t going rogue. As far most GOP voting for Kerry, I felt physically ill when I first read of it. Kerry is an extremely troubled person on many levels, personally and business wise. Cheating his home state out of $500,000 in docking fees for his yacht is OK with everyone I guess. Massachusetts taxpayers are still paying for Obama´s Aunt Zeituni and could´ve used help from billionaire Kerry.

I guess no one questions where Jon F´n got his OWN treasure chest of $170M or $190M, more than even Mitt Romney has. How does that happen when your salary is $175,000 a year? President Obama delivered an address today at the National Defense University called “The Future of our Fight Against Terrorism.” Actually, part of the speech was about the past, including much self-congratulation and some shots at President Bush. This part of the speech is revisionist rubbish. As Max Boot explains: Obama said, for example, that after he came into office, “we unequivocally banned torture, affirmed our commitment to civilian courts, worked to align our policies with the rule of law, and expanded our consultations with Congress.” Umm, actually all of that happened in Bush’s second term.

In seventy lugubrious paragraphs, President Obama today asked America whether as commander-in-chief he should bomb terrorists. He concluded that sometimes he should, and sometimes he shouldn’t. He couldn’t quite make up his mind. Therefore, he would appoint a panel to advise him. Mr. Obama has already authorized more than 200 such drone bombings. His staff has bragged that before ordering a bombing, he personally reviews who lives and who dies. Imagine if Prime Minister Churchill or President Truman had appeared on television to announce an advisory panel before bombing our enemy. We would be appalled

MOUNT VERNON, Wash. -- The Interstate 5 bridge over the Skagit River collapsed Thursday evening, injuring an unknown number of people. Both the northbound and southbound portions of the bridge dropped into the river sometime before 7 p.m., according to Washington State Patrol trooper Mark Francis. Francis said several cars were on the bridge when it collapsed, and some are now in the water. Bart Treece with the Washington State Department of Transportation was unsure when the bridge was last inspected. "All of our bridges in the area are pretty old," he said.

Haunted by scandal surrounding his sexually explicit online communications with women, the Democratic former congressman sought treatment for his compulsive behavior from mental health professionals at the Gabbard Center. According to its website, the facility provides “3-day outpatient psychiatric evaluation,” particularly to “professionals who are in personal or professional crises.” While Weiner did not disclose

LONDON — British police late Thursday arrested a man and a woman in connection with the butchering of a British soldier on a London street, as anti-Muslim protests sprang up across the country. The arrests fueled speculation that the gruesome knife attack Wednesday — the first successful terrorist act in Britain since 2005 — was part of a wider plot, and prompted questions about the prevalence of Islamic extremism in the country and how to combat it. British officials moved quickly to increase security in London and other major cities Thursday as police raided

Three days of hearings have shown that IRS scrutiny of conservative organizations extended beyond a few rogue employees in Cincinnati, that the agency staged its announcement of the bad news to try to limit the damage, and that the White House knew more, and knew it earlier, than it first admitted. Republicans argue that they also uncovered evidence that the auditor’s report could have been completed months ago — even before the November elections. They also said an internal IRS investigation confirmed the untoward behavior as early as July 2012.

The public got its first look Thursday at Lois Lerner, who has gone from faceless IRS bureaucrat to the face that launched what feels like 1,000 congressional hearings and conspiracy theories. But it was only a brief sighting since she didn´t stay long at a House hearing to further probe her role in how some IRS workers came to target conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status. (Snip)She did make a short statement to declare her innocence, however. Lerner´s motivation was more transparent than much of what the IRS has done in connection with this controversy. When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

President Obama on Thursday nominated Victoria Nuland, a State Department official involved in the editing of the administration´s talking points on Benghazi, to be the next assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs. Nuland, a career foreign service officer who was until recently State´s top spokesperson, had long been expected to be nominated the post to replace Philip Gordon, who Obama picked to serve as Middle East coordinator for the National Security Council. Conservative radio host Mark Levin is very skeptical of the idea that President Obama had absolutely no idea about the IRS tea party targeting before the story broke in the news mere weeks ago. Levin declared adamantly that it is a “flat-out, bald-faced lie” that Obama didn’t know beforehand, citing prior reports by a few conservative news outlets picking up on the news well before the 2012 presidential election. Levin said, “I don’t believe for two seconds that Obama wasn’t aware of this.”
