Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) says that he believes President Obama in his second term will drive the progressive agenda forward with a more aggressive use of executive power. “We’re going to see a president of the United States use his executive powers as much as he’s allowed to under federal law and under the Constitution, in a more aggressive way than last time,” Brown said in an interview with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow. Brown added, “You’re going to see the president use the executive powers that are within his constitutional

Comments:
And we are just beginning the second term. 0bama needs a good smackdown like he was given last week by the DC Federal Court.

Not surprising, given the track record of high-handed action by this "administration". Dictators always like to exercise solitary power. Makes them feel like gods. Impeach Obama Now! Take back the Republic before it is irretrievably lost.

I detest Obama immensely.

However, I figure he has to go this executive order route, since the Republican House will never fund his pie-in-the-sky schemes.

Plus the "progressives" will push him to issue zillions of them, since they probably know they will never get another such great opportunity to ruin America.

...and if the Repukes in the House have any stones they will defund his dictatorial ´Executive Power proclamations´.

Executive order isn´t something to push a President´s agenda. It is to give a president emergency power if a situation arises when congress is in recess. This is going to be a very unconstitutional 4 years. When the rule of law goes, so goes society. Be afraid.

Hey Dipstick. nothing about Executive Orders in the Constitution.

And Republicans need to keep reminding people the Progressive agenda is an extreme liberal agenda which doesn´t have the support of overwhelming majority of the American public.

Only 20% of the population identifies as liberal, and Progressives are a fraction of that segment.

Therefore, over 80% of the population don´t agree with the Progressive agenda of higher taxes, higher gasoline prices, higher electricity prices, more rules, more regulations, and more gov´t interference in people´s lives.

Reply 7 - Posted by: Philipsonh, 1/29/2013 10:27:30 PM     (No. 9147491)

I believe it has been said elsewhere here among all the comments, but the House of Representatives should NOT fund, or DEFUND, any of the initiatives that Obama undertakes
unilaterally. It is the job of CONGRESS to make laws and this president has lost all sense of what the USA is about in his thirst for power. Obviously, no matter what his
stated background, he has NEVER understood the U.S. Constitution.

Exactly when is Congress going to put a stop to this dictator ?

For want of horse a kingdom is lost. Right..that´s the ticket. Smack down; nothing new there. Will the Conservatives in the party be ready with their rackets? Tell us something TWTP would consider as news. This is old news that is being recycled. We already know of his executive powers and his little wand.

Reply 10 - Posted by: LanieLou, 1/30/2013 1:25:24 AM     (No. 9147687)

We´ll see. The framers were pretty explicit in stopping dictators from abusing America. As long as we have the constitution, we have hope.

AND the Supreme Court needs to slap him down on all of this.

Juan Williams, a liberal commentator and a Fox News Channel contributor, criticized the Department of Justice (DOJ) for “criminalizing journalism,” when asked about Fox’s Chief Washington Correspondent James Rosen being labeled as a possible co-conspirator in a government leak investigation. “I think what you’ve got here is a situation where somehow, now, journalism has been criminalized, especially in this Rosen case,” Williams said on Fox & Friends on Tuesday. “There’s just no justification for somehow making it out that a reporter, who is trying to cultivate a source, by doing so is a co-conspirator in terms

The White House on Tuesday threatened to veto a House bill designed to approve building the Keystone pipeline, saying President Obama should have final say over the controversial project to bring oil from Canada to the U.S. “Because [the bill] seeks to circumvent longstanding and proven processes for determining whether cross-border pipelines are in the national interest by removing the presidential permitting requirement for the Keystone XL pipeline project, if presented to the president, his senior advisors would recommend that he veto this bill,” the White House budget office said in a statement of policy.

Tomorrow, Lois Lerner -- director of Exempt Organizations at the IRS when all the targeting occurred -- is going to come to Capitol Hill and take the Fifth Amendment. It will be quite a spectacle. As a matter of law, a jury cannot use someone´s invocation of the Fifth Amendment as evidence of guilt. But we are not in a court of law -- we are in the court of public opinion, as everyone in The White House knows, and Lerner wouldn´t be taking the Fifth unless she was in danger of prosecution . . . or

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd. Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight committee Wednesday.

The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”

A senior adviser to President Obama mounted a combative defense of the administration on Sunday, saying the controversies enveloping the White House were the result of Republican lawmakers’ trying to “drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped-up hearings and false allegations.”The remarks came from Dan Pfeiffer, a member of the president’s inner circle, as he appeared on all five major Sunday morning talk shows in an effort to move the administration past what commentators have described as a “hell week” of controversy and missteps.

While many Americans were tuned into news coverage of the massive damage from tornadoes ravaging the state of Oklahoma, Rhode Island Democratic Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse took to the Senate floor to rail against his Republican colleagues for denying the theory of anthropogenic global warming.
