| President Obama’s remarks on immigration reform, delivered Tuesday at a campaign-style event in Las Vegas, were not overtly partisan. However, his message to congressional Republicans was perfectly clear: Get with the program, or suffer politically. Republicans are wary of the president’s call to “finally put this issue [of immigration reform] behind us” by not allowing it to “get bogged down in endless debate.” For one, they are eager to have that debate, which they believe has only just begun. Republicans definitely should not go along with any liberal Democrat written special path to citizenship for just about all illegal aliens now in the USA. There has never been a special path to citizenship in the US immigration laws before, not even for the many millions of legal immigrants who have come to America over two centuries, who were always required to qualify for an immigrant visa to get permanent residence and then attain at least five years of residency in the USA as a permanent resident before they qualified to petition for US citizenship.
The only reason that Obama and the liberal Democrats want such a streamlined path to citizenship is that they recognize that historically about 80% of legalized aliens eventually become Democrat voters. Nobody knows how many illegal aliens are here, Obama´s water carriers in the liberal media claim 11 million, but there could easily be 20 million or more illegal aliens here now. If 80% of eiher of those those numbers became Democrat voters in a few years, and by allowing such an amnesty to pass, the Republicans will have committed long-term political suicide.

All I hear from the GOP is "waaaaaaaaaaaahh"..
The GOP needs to STOP campaigning manically against Oblahma, because they´ve already lost. The prudent thing to do is for the GOP to try leading on the issues - i.e. make the case AGAINST amnesty. And, no, you don´t have to risk being called a nativist to do so, wimps. Get up in front of a crowd of LEGAL immigrants. Talk about their struggles with the backwards and buraucratic INS -- a Democrat institution. Talk about the plight of LEGAL US workers who´ve seen their wages go flat in the last 30 years due, in part, to an infinite labor pool that grows by leaps and bounds with every subsequent wave of illegal workers. Talk about the plight of Mexico -- a country that has been destabilized by do-gooding liberals inducing folks to risk life and limb crossing the border to take advantage of free government cheese. It is high time the lame-o GOP quit whining about Oblahma like a pack of gelded chihuahuas and instead showed a little bit of leadership here. And, sorry Rubio, but amnesty is NOT LEADERSHIP!

A Chechen man linked to one of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects was fatally shot early Wednesday in an unusual encounter with the FBI and other law enforcement officers in his apartment in Orlando. One of two men allegedly being questioned in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings was shot and killed by an FBI agent in Florida on Tuesday, (Snip)A friend of Ibragim Todashev said he and Todashev were being investigated as part of the Boston bombings. He said Todashev, 27, knew bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev because both were MMA fighters. The man claims he and Todashev were interviewed by the FBI for nearly three hours on Tuesday. The friend said he left the interview, and when he came back to the apartment he found that there had been a shooting.

When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. What´s so interesting about 60 tea partiers protesting the IRS in San Jose, California on Tuesday, May 21st? The fact that this bit of information was conveyed to the protesters by a Department of Homeland Security officer who was also in attendance.
