What Was the Point of
Obama’s Immigration Speech?

National Review Online, by Mark Kirkorian

Original Article

I know the president likes the sound of his own voice, but, really, what was the point of his immigration speech today in Las Vegas? He didn’t deal with any of the hard issues — like guestworkers or spousal immigration rights for homosexual couples or how many millions more people a year he wants to admit — and just regurgitated the usual boilerplate about how we’re a nation of immigrants and our system is broken, etc. In fact, he’s become self-parody. I always point out that the DREAM Act was never designed

The point was to spend more of our hard earned money using the plane for 9 hours.
AND to get away from Moochelle.

Simple, Obama is just being his illogical narcistic self.

Wasting a day burning close to two million bucks in JP4 and operating costs on AF1 when he could have given the same speech from anywhere in DC is the point. He´s the King of The World, we just don´t get it.

What´s the point of his EXISTENCE!

Obama had two reasons for this wasteful trip:

A.. Appear to be more sympathetic to illegals than GOP. All appearance, no substance, but that´s all CBS, NBC and rest need for 30 second sound bites. No major network will dare mention costs involved.

B, This is conjecture, but he surely spent quality time with his boy friend. The Mooch gets furious when boy toys are at WH, so the mobile WH complete with bed will do.

The point? There were two.
Frist, it got him out of the White House.
Second, he had to go that far to find someone to applaud him.

The problem is the US Government could go out and find all the few thousand legitimately really good students like Luis and Alan in the massive 11 to 20 million illegal alien population, give the Luis and Alan crowd "green cards", and you would still have an illegal alien population of 11 to 20 million illegal aliens out there who cannot speak much English, are poor, generally uneducated and unskilled, who would have to be heavily subsidized through US Government financed health care and social welfare programs to make it in the current high cost of living USA.

The point of Obama´s speech was to show that he recognizes that if he and the liberal Democrats can dupe the Stupid Party into going along with a special path to citizenship amnesty for just about every illegal alien now in the USA that in a few years the Democrats will end up with 10 million or more new voters that the Democrats can use to send the Stupid Party downhill into political oblivion. Once the Democrats have the voters to flip States like Arizona, Florida and Texas it is all over for the Stupid Party.

The point was that he planned to lash out at a do-nothing Congress...and they beat him to the punch by having a bipartisan group put out a proposal. But he couldn´t very well back out on his plans to give a speech.

Reply 9 - Posted by: Janjan, 1/30/2013 7:03:20 AM     (No. 9147850)

Rubio seems to believe that if Republicans will get behind amnesty for illegals he can convince them to vote for smaller government. He told Rush yesterday that most of them come here to live the dream. There is truth to that except it isn´t the dream of our Founders. It is the dream of the Obama liberals. Taxpayer booty and entitlements.

´´So are the Republican amnesty-pushers to Obama’s left, at least in this respect? That’s pretty pathetic.´´

¡Qué sorpresa!

#6 was half right in his answer - that Obama came this far to find applause.

Out here, in Reid-Land, Senor Obama is guaranteed crowds and applause the way Reid (any of them, and there are far too many) is guaranteed re-election. Obama gives that speech to adoring crowds of latino teenagers and various other multi-culti faces, as required by their various union memberships, then when he actually does something else later, Harry Reid can then be the point man to start the new conversational direction by pointing back to this speech to illustrate how the people want whatever it was Obama said.

What Obama DOES has never occurred to any of his supporters to be any different from what he says, because they don´t LISTEN to what he says any more than they know what he DOES.

They just cheer him because the Reid Machine out here has ordered them to do so, under threat of loss of their menial pay jobs (which are lucrative for their union handlers).

Don´t get me started......

He makes these unnecessary trips because he feels he is entitled. You don´t have to be poor and on welfare to have this mindset. He travels so much because he enjoysnit and knows someone else is paying the bills. Getting to bash Republicans while doing so is icing on the cake. The guy is a grifter and has hit on the mother lode in the American taxpayer. He is not alone. There are way too many in Washington DC who agree and waste taxpayer money on "fact finding" trips.

When does common sense enter the scene? With a country out of money how can you justify stupid trips like this? Someone on the right has to start exposing this more.

Obozo just flys around the country and world because it makes him feel like king of the world. He can do as he pleases and have someone else pay for it. And AF 1 is the most luxury aircraft in the world. And he has total control of it.

And I´m really upset that Marco Rubio would jump into this morass. I voted for him because I believe that he is a dedicated conservative. But on this issue he is wrong. Anyone who thinks that latinos are rushing to get in to the U.S. so they can ´live the American dream´ is out of it. These people don´t even have a clue what the ´America dream´ is/was. They have been born and raised in a socialist, corrupt form of government and that´s all they know. And they bring that with them. They are here because of the freebees to be had gives them a better living that what they had in their home country. That´s what has to be broken. Stop the give aways to illegals!

The point is: distraction. Several pundits are pointing this out. Stirring up controversy about immigration and gun control simply keeps our attention away from the debt, lack of a budget, sequestration, Iran, and other acute issues.

As Glenn Beck is fond of saying: "Watch the other hand".

Reply 20 - Posted by: chicodon, 1/30/2013 11:18:21 AM     (No. 9148480)

Reason? Sadism. Obama will spend the next four years (insert prayer here) rubbing the noses of those of western European ancestry in the fact that demographics have hit the tipping point. They will no longer be able to vote their way out of it. They will be left with few options. A change in voting rights perhaps? This would not happen at the ballot box.

I still maintain he has some vision of a South African model in America´s future. Hopefully he´s not delusional enough to think he can put it on a fast track. Hint: Charlie Manson tried and it didn´t work.

Do not confuse this for being a wasted trip to give a speech.

It is part of the whole 2014 campaign, and the targeted stated of Nevada and all those union workers in the hotels.

Just like the Clintons, it´s all calculated with a purpose.

The difference between this immigration initiative and Reagan´s? Reagan´s provided actual amnesty.
This one only gets them to apply for the green card, which then they can after 5 years, apply for citizenship, and only then be placed at the back of the line (likely another 10 years).

You can´t vote with a green card, and once they have a green card, it will be easier to track illegal voting (if that´s occuring).

As NewsBusters reported two weeks ago, CBS’s Bob Schieffer is fed up with the White House’s talking points concerning what happened at our consulate in Benghazi, Libya, last September. His impatience continued on Sunday´s Face the Nation when Obama senior advisor Dan Pfeiffer gave stock answers to questions about the three crises facing the President leading Schieffer to first accuse his guest of taking "exactly the approach that the Nixon administration took" and finally scolding him by asking, "Why are you here today? Why isn´t the White House Chief of Staff here to tell us what happened?"

I have always been skeptical of electric vehicles, mostly because of my perception that electric car makers are more interested in subsisting on government subsidies than in competing on a level playing field for my business. So I was intrigued when I got an email this morning from Jeff Evanson, Tesla Motors’ Vice-President of investor relations. Evanson, a long-time Power Line reader, pointed out that the company raised over $1 billion last week, and will use a portion of those proceeds to pay off its loan with the Department of Energy ahead of schedule. An exasperated Rep. I was on Hugh Hewitt’s radio show last night, talking about the Benghazi talking point emails. Near the end of the segment, Hugh asked whether I thought the presidential election might have turned out differently if Obama and Clinton had not succeeded in covering up the truth about Benghazi. I was skeptical. The story of the election, I said, was the Obama campaign’s ability to turn out, once again, a large majority of the low-information voters who swept Obama into office in 2008. Few of those low-information voters, I said, would either have understood, or cared about, Benghazi

As tax collector for the nation’s second-largest state, I know it’s a necessary function — from the fire station to the space station, nothing government does is possible without taxes. But it’s sure no path to popularity. Tax collectors have had a rotten reputation since biblical times. For all the services and all the people that depend on it, our work has to be viewed as fair and even-handed. It’s a basic bond of trust, and once that trust is lost, it’s hard to get back. Our entire nation was born when the colonists decided Britain’s taxes were unfair

What did President Obama do on the evening of 9/11/12 when our men were under attack in Benghazi? The invaluable Andrew McCarthy reminds us that Obama and Secretary Clinton had a 10:00 p.m. phone call of which many (including, I think, Chris Wallace) have lost sight. This morning when Wallace asked Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer what Obama was up to that evening, Pfeiffer declared the line of inquiry “offensive.” Translation: Obama and his minions would prefer to “move on” and are warning the likes of FNC off:(Snip for video)The Weekly Standard’s Daniel Halper has posted the rush transcript

In the wake of one of the worst abuses of government power in recent history, many are rushing to frame the Internal Revenue Service scandal as simply an attack on conservative activists. That view risks creating a partisan political football and misses a fundamentally scarier abuse that exceeds the scandals of Watergate or any other prior government abuse. The IRS has admitted that since May 2010 it targeted grassroots-conservative organizations that had applied for tax-exempt status, unfairly subjecting them to rigorous scrutiny due to their political leanings. Such groups were told they were required to comply with IRS requests,

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.

The disclosure to the Treasury general counsel and the deputy secretary was a cursory one, according to J. Russell George, the Treasury inspector general for tax administration.
