| HUNTSVILLE, Texas -A Texas woman won a reprieve from the death chamber Tuesday, mere hours before she was scheduled to be the first woman executed in the U.S. since 2010. State District Judge Larry Mitchell, in Dallas, rescheduled Kimberly McCarthy´s punishment for April 3 so lawyers for the former nursing home therapist could have more time to pursue an appeal focused on whether her predominantly white jury was improperly selected on the basis of race. McCarthy is black. (Snip) The 51-year-old McCarthy was convicted and sent to death row for the 1997 stabbing, beating and robbery

I just can´t beleive that there might have been a racist jury in TEXAS, of all places.

She´s not getting out of jail, but I don´t think addressing this question is going to be a deal breaker. The jury may have been racisit; that doesn´t mean she was innocent.

She bludgeoned her elderly neighbor lady to death, then cut off her finger to steal her ring, which she pawned for drug money.
Yeah, I´m sure the jury just convicted her because she´s a downtrodden woman of color. /sarcasm (What color was the dead lady?)

So because the jury was ´predominantly´ white, the poor neighbor wasn´t really brutally murdered and her ring wasn´t stolen? Since the NAACP wants us to believe we´re all created equal, what difference does the makeup of the jury matter?

Former U.S. Attorney for Arizona Dennis Burke violated Justice Department policies by releasing a memo written by an Operation Fast & Furious whistleblower to the media, Justice´s Inspector General found in a report issued Monday. The report called Burke´s actions "wholly unbefitting a U.S. Attorney." He resigned after acknowledging the disclosure in 2011, so no discipline by the department is possible. However, Inspector General Michael Horowitz referred the matter to Justice´s legal ethics watchdogs for possible referral to bar authorities in the District of Columbia and Arizona.

NORFOLK -This was supposed to be the week when thousands of free-spending Norfolk sailors were to descend on lower Manhattan, where New Yorkers promised to shower them with gifts, drinks and kisses. But the annual party on the Hudson River was canceled. Fleet Week New York – like all the Navy’s big community outreach events this year – fell victim to sweeping federal budget cuts. Most of the sailors who would have been treated to free baseball tickets and complimentary subway rides instead will spend the week idling in Hampton Roads traffic and reporting for duty at Norfolk Naval Station.

WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. Inspector General Russell George said he informed a deputy at the Treasury Department in June of 2012 about the probe into the IRS. The Treasury Department confirmed the timeline but said they did not know the details of the investigation until last week.(Snip)Marcus Owens ran the tax-exempt division at the IRS for 10 years. He said it isn´t difficult to figure out who´s doing what at the agency.

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.

Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued.
