| A 16-year-old boy was heard screaming for his life before he was fatally stabbed by a gang armed with knives and swords, residents of a well-heeled area of London said today. The teenager, named locally as Hani Abou El-Kheir, is said to have cried ´don´t do it´ as he was attacked after tripping while fleeing the gang. He was stabbed in Pimlico, central London, shortly before 7pm yesterday evening and taken to a nearby hospital, but he died from his injuries two hours later. Shocked residents living close to the scene on Lupus Street, claimed today that a gang

So will the land of King Arthur now call for a ban on swords? Or is their populace sufficiently disarmed that their Government feels comfortable in doing as it pleases.

FTA: ´´The street is bordered by extensive council estates ´´.
These are government-owned housing. In the US we would call them projects - but these are probably a lot nicer - specifically being the general location.
An otherwise unaffordable part of the UK made affordable to the idle criminal class. Tony and Cherie Blair´s legacy.

England already has knife resrictions:
"Bladed items etc:- section 139 Offence of having article with blade or point in public place
(1) Subject to subsections (4) and (5) below, any person who has an article to which this section applies with him in a public place shall be guilty of an offence.
(2) Subject to subsection (3) below, this section applies to any article which has a blade or is sharply pointed except a folding pocketknife.
(3) This section applies to a folding pocketknife if the cutting edge of its blade exceeds 3 inches.
(4) It shall be a defence for a person charged with an offence under this section to prove that he had good reason or lawful authority for having the article with him in a public place."
It is not clear who gets to decide if you have "good reason" to have a knife with a blade longer than three inches.
The knife law didn´t seem to bother these criminals.

I´ve heard that all "offensive weapons" have been banned in Britain, which can include sharp knives, so once again we see that banning only disarms law abiding citizens. Criminals, by definition, ignore this entire issue.

Good thing nobody had a gun or somebody might have been hurt. When are liberals going to finally figure it out. It isn´t the weapon. It is the person. I would rather there be 1000 people with guns in my neighborhood than 1 lunatic with a gallon of gasoline.

Going out on a limb here: the victim´s last name was muslim. Would it be too much a stretch for calling this an honor killing? Maybe 16 year old boy offended the sister of gang member.

Not only are weapons banned in the UK, but I believe the actual defense of one´s own life is illegal and will get one a stiff prison sentence, regardless of the weapon used.

New York has something called the "Sullivan Law," which bans the carrying of all sorts of weapons, including guns, brass knuckles, knives, etc.
It hasn´t done much to deter criminals.
A female police officer once told a self-defense group I attended to carry knitting needles--there was no law against them.

Response from the Mayor of London:
"This horrific incident serves as an unwelcome reminder that although violent crime in the capital continues to fall, we must continue our fight to tackle youth violence and get knives off our streets."
The article also reveals, however, that some were armed with kitchen knives. How will they get rid of those?

The usually-cocksure Jay Carney has rarely appeared so uncomfortable. “What I can tell you is that this president believes strongly in the First Amendment and is a strong defender of the First Amendment,” Carney insisted to a packed house of angry reporters last Tuesday afternoon. The White House had just been freshly stung by news that the Department of Justice had secretly raided the phone records of up to 100 Associated Press reporters, looking to identify the news organization’s private sources. He believes strongly in the need for the press to be unfettered in its pursuit of investigative journalism,”

President Obama "was kept up to date" on the terror attack in Benghazi "throughout the entire night, from the moment it started until the very end," the president´s senior adviser Dan Pfeiffer told "Fox News Sunday." But repeatedly pressed for details on where the president was and what the president was doing on the night of Sept. 11, 2012, Pfeiffer dodged the question, saying only that Obama was "kept up to date with the events as they were happening." Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace, pressing Pfeiffer to fill in the blanks, noted that Obama was

BAGHDAD— A string of car bombs and shootings killed at least 57 people in Shiite and Sunni areas of Iraq on Monday, officials said, escalating fears of a return to widespread sectarian bloodletting in the country. The attacks, some of which hit market places and crowded bus stops during the morning rush hour, pushed the death toll in Iraq since Wednesday to more than 200. The bloodshed over the past week has been reminiscent of the retaliatory attacks between Sunnis and Shiites that pushed the country to the brink of civil war in 2006-2007.

On the May 19 broadcast of CNN´s State of the Union, host Candy Crowley said that Obama was late in identifying the attacks in Benghazi as terrorism quite contrary to what she said during the Presidential debates late last year. As Crowley questioned White House spokesman Dan Pfeiffer, she pressed him on whether or not the President was aware of the Benghazi talking points being written and re-written by the Department of State and the intel community, re-writes that eventually eliminated any mention that the attacks were perpetrated by terrorists. In reply, Pfeiffer blithely told Crowley that "no president"

The IRS scandal keeps getting closer and closer to the top of the White House food chain as Obama officials desperately try to spin their way out of mounting evidence and foul play. The Wall Street Journal is reporting President Obama´s top attorney knew about the IRS targeting weeks ago before news broke, but of course, Obama still didn´t know about it until he learned about it "from the news." The White House´s chief lawyer learned weeks ago that an audit of the Internal Revenue Service likely would show that agency employees inappropriately targeted conservative groups,

ATLANTA –When Ed Buckner and his family went to a north Georgia state park to celebrate his son´s birthday, he was surprised and concerned to find Bibles in the state-owned cabin he had rented. An atheist, Buckner believes that no religious literature should be provided in government-owned lodging, and he presented that concern to management at the Amicalola Falls State Park. Officials told Buckner they would remove the Bibles from all state park resorts while the state attorney general looked into the matter. Not long afterward, however, the AG issued a ruling saying the state

COLLEGE PARK, Md- Chief executive officer of large organizations all face the same problem -- driving their agendas in organizations too diverse and geographically dispersed to manage directly. They hire competent managers for their units, set goals and establish clear metrics for evaluating performance. As in politics, competition in business is tough and CEOs must set ethical boundaries for their managers´ conduct. In all this, the CEO´s personal conduct is critical. Early in his presidency, Barack Obama flaunted U.S. constitutional tradition by pushing through major social legislation, Obamacare, without a bipartisan compromise and consensus.

What did President Obama do on the evening of 9/11/12 when our men were under attack in Benghazi? The invaluable Andrew McCarthy reminds us that Obama and Secretary Clinton had a 10:00 p.m. phone call of which many (including, I think, Chris Wallace) have lost sight. This morning when Wallace asked Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer what Obama was up to that evening, Pfeiffer declared the line of inquiry “offensive.” Translation: Obama and his minions would prefer to “move on” and are warning the likes of FNC off:(Snip for video)The Weekly Standard’s Daniel Halper has posted the rush transcript

WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. Inspector General Russell George said he informed a deputy at the Treasury Department in June of 2012 about the probe into the IRS. The Treasury Department confirmed the timeline but said they did not know the details of the investigation until last week.(Snip)Marcus Owens ran the tax-exempt division at the IRS for 10 years. It began in earnest last Friday. A flash mob of latte drinking, tofu eating media that has done its best to quell, rather than fan the flames of truth, turned on one of their own. Jay Carney lay bludgeoned at the base of the podium, a victim of friendly fire. Ironically, the attack was reminiscent of the one in Benghazi he has repeatedly denied the Administration he represents bears any responsibility for. “Changed twelve times?!” came the cries. And with good reason. We were misled; no, lied to.

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.
