Farrakhan: Right To Bear
Arms An Outdated Concept

CBS News (DC), by Staff

Original Article

Posted By:PChristopher, 1/28/2013 12:24:05 PM

In the third installment of his 52-week sermon series, Nation of Islam leader, Minister Louis Farrakhan, ridiculed the “volatile” American right to own weapons. On Sunday, Farrakhan continued “The Time and What Must Be Done” sermon series by stating that Americans are increasingly angry at the government, and are simultaneously preparing themselves for war. Farrakhan went on to say that the Second Amendment has little relevance in modern society, stating that the constitutional right to bear arms is outdated.

Comments:
Some other outdated concepts are moral relativism celebrating diversity and multi-ligualism, but those three really need to go...for starters. The 2nd Amendment stays. You go. "Minister"...there´s a laugh.

I could buy his logic if he could permanently disarm each of the world´s Muslims. Far fewer weapons would be necessary in the world if Muslims never discovered gun powder.

OK I´m sick of this "outdated" crapola. The assertion and the logic behind it are fundamentally flawed. The Claim is always based on some form of "thinking that an armed civilian mob could take on the Army with its tanks and bazoolas etc is absurd. Since a civilian mob obviously could never win the amendment is meaningless"

I will point Mr. Farrakhan to another part of the constitution. The part which specifically states that the US Army cannot be deployed in any form for domestic law enforcement. The Army cannot be used against American Citizens on American soil. Don´t point to the civill war either, the South renounced their citizenship and their adherance to the constitution and then attacked the North.

That leaves the National guard, who would be unarmed until called up, and the civilian police forces which cannot seem to handle even a poorly armed group of common thugs.

I contend that an armed"Mob" of citizens could very probably take on both groups with reasonable expectations of winning. Add to that that a sizeable portion of both the Police and National guard would be on the Mobs side (as well as the regular armed forces) and it is quite simple to see just how pertinent the second amendment is to MODERN life.

I am sure our founders did not anticipate the first amendment freedom of religion being abused by racist adherents to a backwards death cult that worships a moon demon. Let´s start putting rational limits on the freedom to worship. Let´s limit religious freedom to the catholic, lutheran, baptist, etc. Let´s limit freedom of religion to 10 choices. You do not need to worship differently than the majority.

Reply 12 - Posted by: texaspast, 1/28/2013 1:05:35 PM     (No. 9144379)

The whole point of this ´get rid of the second amendment´ is, as shown by Farky´s pronouncement, to disarm white Americans. That is the ONLY purpose.

By his own logic, the right to free speech by race baiting agitators is also an outdated concept.

There is a method to repeal an existing amendment, so you could try that.

The racial hatred of Farrakhan is outdated. If Farrakhan thinks people agree with him, why all the bodyguards?

In reality the right to bear arms will only become an outdated concept after the majority of the American people use the constitutional process to repeal the 2nd Amendment and that is not about to happen anytime soon.

The U.S. court system is built upon the Sixth Amendment, which entitles Americans to a fair and speedy trial with an impartial jury. And now, thanks to the increasing use of Urban Dictionary in our courts, Americans also enjoy the right to a trial in the slang of their choosing. How else could county court handle a dispute between two “ratchets?” (Snip) Understandably, the legal use of a website that allows its users to crowdsouce the definitions of “twerking” and “Eskimo brother” can be polarizing.

As you may have heard, Kevin Williamson made the leap from “National Review writer” to “Great American Hero” last night when he decided that enough was enough, that he could no longer idly stand by and watch the shameful state of affairs in our nation’s theaters go unchallenged, that he had to take matters into his own hands. From his account: The lady seated to my immediate right (very close quarters on bench seating) was fairly insistent about using her phone. I asked her to turn it off. She answered: “So don’t look.

The American ammo shortage has been a boon for foreign ammo makers as ammunition imports into the U.S. doubled during the first months of 2013. The House was in no rush to take up an internet tax bill that senators approved Monday night. And even if the House takes up the issue, lawmakers said, it will be a bill very different from the Seante´s. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., said to expect “thoughtful” consideration in the House, which will involve committee debate and amendments. The version passed in the Senate by a 69-27 vote “has a long way to go,” Goodlatte said Monday.

The Montgomery County Council approved a trio of pay raises for union employees, which will cost the county almost $32 million in fiscal 2014. The council approved the firefighters, police and county government employees union packages 8-1, with only Councilman Phil Andrews, D-Gaithersburg/Rockville, voting against the contracts. He repeatedly has said they´re too high and unsustainable. Though the packages span two years, the council approved only the first year of the deals, which would give employees an average of 7 to 10 percent raises.

For months now, men have been starving themselves in Guantanamo Bay to get the attention of the American people. And for weeks these men, prisoners of the War on Terror, many of whom have been cleared for release, have had the attention of the White House, which is filled with officials, including the President, who sympathize with the prisoners’ plight. “It’s not sustainable,” President Obama said Tuesday, breaking his silence about the protest against his own government. “I mean, the notion that we’re going to continue to keep over 100 individuals in a no-man’s land in perpetuity."

Former Rep. The dam protecting the IRS scandal began to crack today when Lois Lerner, the IRS official who announced, and apologized for, the improper singling out of conservative-leaning organizations by IRS employees under her command, announced through her criminal defense lawyer that she will not testify as scheduled tomorrow before the House Oversight Committee. Rather, she will assert her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. This marks an enormous milestone in the IRS investigation. It can now be taken as more or less established that crimes were committed by Obama administration employees. Lerner’s lawyer tried to minimize the significance

The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”

Former Democratic National committee chairman Howard Dean considers the controversy over Benghazi a “joke” and “silly.” “Benghazi is a laughable joke,” Dean proclaimed twice in a discussion with Republican National Committee communications chairman Sean Spicer last week. “With all due respect, governor, when four Americans die serving this country, that’s not a joke, sir,” Spicer responded. “Oh, stop it,” said Dean. The former Democratic presidential candidate also said that there were “no serious questions being asked about Benghazi” and brushed it off as an effort by Republicans to score political points.
