| By including gay rights in the arc of the struggle for civil rights — the road “through Seneca Falls and Selma and Stonewall” — President Obama linked his presidency to ending antigay discrimination and underscored the legal wrong of denying gay people the freedom to marry. “Our journey is not complete until our gay brothers and sisters are treated like anyone else under the law,” Mr. Obama famously said in his second Inaugural Address, “for if we are truly created equal, then surely the love we commit to one another must be equal as well.”

Comments: Stonewall, a brawl at a gay bar in Greenwich Village, is now a rival of Selma?? That is some evolution in thinking for a guy who, only months ago, opposed homo nuptuals. If I was black I would be outraged.

OP, the blacks have been "outraged" for years, ever since the gay activists got the idea that gay rights are the equivalent of any other civil right. This is not new, except that now we have a chief executive embracing the linkage.

Whoever heard of ´Stonewall´ until now? Not me, and I read everything in sight.
If anything can be ´linked´ to vote-getting, then nothing is not on the table for a lib. No such thing as a stretch too far--to garner votes.
Have I said lately that leftists disgust me?

“Our journey is not complete until our gay brothers and sisters are treated like anyone else under the law.”
But they are. A gay man, like any man, can marry a woman. A gay woman, like any woman, can marry a man. A gay couple can even marry, provided it´s a gay man and a gay woman.
Think I´m joking? You never heard of Andrea Dworkin and John Stoltenberg?
Marriage is consummated by the marriage act? The marriage act is sexual union, and sexual union is uniting the sexes. Two men can´t do that, and neither can two women --whether they´re gay or straight.
When several hundred thousand marchers converged at the Eiffel Tower in Paris a cople of Sundays ago, I think this lady´s sign said it best: ON VEUX DU SEXE NON DU GENRE.
WE WANT SEX, NOT GENDER!
(I also couldn´t help smiling about the gays´ sign, "We´re gayer without marriage.")

God is not mocked. Keep it up miscreant and the King of Kings will straighten you out, but good.
I´d sure like for a liberal evolutionist to explain how being a homo is "natural" and "normal."

The ladies´ lingerie boys at the New York Times are rapturous over this.
But then again - - they also got rapturous over the new lace curtains in the City Room.
The same thing will happen again when Bette Midler releases her next album.

This is, of course, a profound insult to the legitimate civil rights of black people.

I can just see bammy in a wedding dress marrying whoever in another bridal dress or a ruffled tux. I don´t think I know any gay person and don´t want to. Disgusting beyond belief. I also resent the gay word being used, with all of their diseases I would call it a dangerous union.

If blacks have been outraged for years, why did they still vote 96% for 0bama after he voiced his support for "gay marriage"? Their melanin content and their freebies will always trump any moral outrage.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — No one at the Catholic high school that fired Carla Hale in March claimed that she was anything less than a terrific physical education teacher and coach, devoted to the kids and adored by many of them. No one accused her of bringing her personal life into the gym or onto the fields. By nature she’s private. And she loved her job too much to risk it that way. But she lost it nonetheless, and the how is as flabbergasting as the why is infuriating. Rather suddenly, her mother died, and an hour afterward

Before Congress is finished with the Internal Revenue Service, there’s a serious danger some of us are going to wind up feeling sorry for the auditors. And, honestly, that is not the way we were planning on spending the spring. Especially since it appears that there are people making decisions at the I.R.S. who have the intelligence of a wet Frisbee. But, so far, the Congressional hearings of outrage have been even less sympathetic. Perhaps you didn’t have time to spend much of your Friday watching the House Ways and Means Committee grill Steven Miller

Let’s try to come up with some positive thoughts about the recent political fortunes of the Obama White House: • Economy’s getting a little better. Deficit’s dropping. • Bill Clinton had a really terrible second term and look how well things turned out for him. • Nobody in the administration has been caught driving to Canada with Bo the dog strapped to the car roof. It’s been quite a week, what with the I.R.S. scandal, the Benghazi controversy and revelations about the Justice Department’s sweep of The Associated Press’s phone records.

Jason Richwine, the young conservative scholar who co-authored the Heritage Foundation report on the long-term costs of the amnesty bill backed by the “Gang of Eight,” is gone from Heritage. He was purged after The Washington Post unearthed his doctoral dissertation at the JFK School of Government. Richwine’s thesis: IQ tests fairly measure mental ability. The average IQ of immigrants is well below that of white Americans. This difference in IQ is likely to persist through several generations. And the potential consequences of this? “A lack of socioeconomic assimilation among low IQ immigrant groups

On Fox News Sunday this morning, Weekly Standard editor William Kristol defended former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton from partisan political attacks over the tragedy in Benghazi, while also urging non-partisan investigations into that incident and the IRS’ targeting of conservative groups during the 2012 election. Kristol denounced American Crossroads’ anti-Hillary ads, asking “What is the point of that?” and calling them “ridiculous.” “There’s no campaign going on,”Kristol continued, adding “Let’s pull the partisanship back. It’s genuine outrage. There should be bipartisan committees investigating both from Congress. So I wish the Republicans would just be quiet,

Daniel Snyder is owner of the Washington pro football team he grew up adoring. Would he ever consider changing the team name that many American Indians and others believe is a racial slur? "We will never change the name of the team," Snyder told USA TODAY Sports this week. "As a lifelong Redskins fan, and I think that the Redskins fans understand the great tradition and what it´s all about and what it means, so we feel pretty fortunate to be just working on next season." What if his football team loses an ongoing federal trademark lawsuit?

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd. Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight committee Wednesday.

The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”

A senior adviser to President Obama mounted a combative defense of the administration on Sunday, saying the controversies enveloping the White House were the result of Republican lawmakers’ trying to “drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped-up hearings and false allegations.”The remarks came from Dan Pfeiffer, a member of the president’s inner circle, as he appeared on all five major Sunday morning talk shows in an effort to move the administration past what commentators have described as a “hell week” of controversy and missteps.

Stuart Varney said this morning on "Varney & Co." that one of his producers was given a questionnaire with some surprisingly intrusive questions on it when he switched doctors. One of the questions was whether he/she was concerned about unsecured weapons in the home. Another asked whether he/she was "in a relationship in which you have been physically hurt or are you afraid of your partner?" Judge Andrew Napolitano explained that the question about guns comes out of a post-Sandy Hook executive order by President Obama, but it will be required under Obamacare. Varney expressed amazement

While many Americans were tuned into news coverage of the massive damage from tornadoes ravaging the state of Oklahoma, Rhode Island Democratic Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse took to the Senate floor to rail against his Republican colleagues for denying the theory of anthropogenic global warming. Whitehouse spent 15 minutes chastising GOP senators and justified his remarks by alluding to states that seek federal assistance in the wake of natural disasters. “So, you may have a question for me,” Whitehouse said. “Why do you care? Why do you, Sheldon Whitehouse, Democrat of Rhode Island, care
